Hotel is more of a motel, easy to navigate to get to Venice. Staff were nice, rooms are clean but very dated. I would stay in Venice if there for a short stay. Don't need more then 2 days tops for a good visit. Decent motel....

We booked a apartment for this holiday, but unfortunately we were unable to gain access on the day of our arrival as we couldn't get hold of the apartment owner! We found the Hotel San Carlo by chance and booked in for the night. The hotel Manager was so helpful. He tried to contact the apartment owner, without success, but he went out of his way to help us and was very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are very clean and the breakfast was lovely. The hotel is also on a bus route, so it's easy to get around. I have said this hotel is suitable for couples, but there were also families there.

This hotel in Mestre is a great hotel for the money, far cheaper than any you will find in Venice but within easy commuting distance by tram (stops behind hotel less than five minutes walk away). When we arrived we were greeted warmly at reception. Our room was spotlessly clean with a nice clean bathroom as well, it was also cleaned thoroughly every day with clean towels provided. If I was to pick fault with anything, there is not much sound proofing so you can hear quite a bit of noise at night and the shower cubicle was quite small and I think if you were of a large build, you wouldn't get in there! The breakfast was good with a choice of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and fruit juices and plenty of pastries, rolls, cereals, cold meats, cheese and toast. All of the staff we met were very helpful, warm and only too happy to help with directions, tickets and explaining where and how to do things. All in all, a great hotel, lovely people and I would be more than happy to stay there again and would most definitely recommend... well done! :-)

Very good hotel to stay. Very clean and staff very helpful. They help you to visit the places where you like to go. They show you on the map. If you need a taxi , they help to too. It come in few mins.

We were almost the only guests. Nevertheless the staff was very friendly. The tram stop is only 5 mins from the hotel. Tram tickets vailable at the reception. Neat rooms, free wifi, everything you need.

We arrived late night with our car, they offer free parking. The room is big, but the bathroom is a bit small. The water and heater are hot enough. The breakfast is pretty good, we enjoyed the staying.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here just last weekend! I can't fault anything, its just outside of Venice but so easy to get to via the tram stop just a few minute walk away from the Hotel. Franceso was so helpful and lovely to us with information we needed and was always there with answers to our questions. He even gave us a discount to his friends local restaurant down the road. It gave us such a feel for "real Italy". As far as cleanliness goes, the rooms and en suite were cleaned nicely everyday and it was all to a good standard! Would definitely recommend this place.

Very center hotel in Mestre , good clean hotel with friendly staff , 5 mins walk to take the tram San Marco to Venice , staff very helpful to help you to go to Venice, Breakfast was good from cereals to rolls with ham and Salami to croissants and coffee and orange juices ,

Let's start with the part people won't like as much. Hotel San Carlo is not in a charming, romantic part of Venice. It's in Mestre, where most Venetians have moved in recent years. It's a pretty pragmatic, unassuming modern city. That being said, you are only 20 minutes away by tram to historic Venice. The tram stop is about a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel. The deal here is excellent. 55 euros a night got me a small but clean, quiet, comfortable room, and a decent breakfast. The front desk was very friendly and helpful and can also sell tickets for the tram and water bus. Wi-fi was good though it would sign me out too quickly. There is a place to do laundry about 10 minutes down the street and places to eat nearby. Though no one will be writing poems about Mestre anytime soon, it should be noted you are and staying nearby more locals than you probably would in historic Venice...

Staff were very helpful and provided all information and tickets for tram. It has good connection to Venice city via tram. Didn't like the breakfast though, no hot options. Apart from that the rooms are neat and clean. Would recommend for family tourists.
