Clean room with nice fresh linen Staff were friendly and helpful Breakfast was a cold buffet lots of choice Tram stop 5 min walk (3 Euro return ticket to Venice) These can be bought at reception Mestre (centre) is approx 10 mins walk *** The off licence / wine shop on the corner by the tram shop is well worth a visit **** Great selection of wines from 3 euros a bottle. The friendly staff will even uncork at no extra charge !

Last minute booking when I had to change holiday plans. Clean and tidy throughout. Front desk staff extremely helpful. Close to tram stop into Venice. Breakfast was ok unless you're a really big eater. Only negative was that air con was not particularly effective.

Initially booked to stay for 2 nights; ended up staying 7 nights. Very convenient location from tram (costs 1.5 euro one way to Venice which can be bough at hotel reception desk) that is 5 minutes walking distance from hotel. Mestre City Center is 10-15 minute walk from hotel. The room/bathrooms were clean and recently remodeled. Breakfast included was pretty good and provided enough energy to go exploring Venice during the day. I want to mention the very kind and knowledgeable staff. Eleonora was fantastic. If you are going to explore Venice, please listen to her advice. Franchesco (sp?) was also extremely kind. We had a 6:55am flight and had to leave by 5am. He prepared full breakfast for us and had the cab already waiting for us when we came down from our rooms. Our family truly enjoyed our stay here; should we visit again, this is the place we will stay.

My room was clean, comfortable and there was no street noise. The walls are kind of thin so maybe ear plugs may be helpful, just in case. The price was well within my budget and the staff was most helpful. The tram stop is just around the corner for your day trip to Venice. Their website needs to clarify the bus ride to the hotel from the train station but the no. 15 bus stops almost in front of the hotel on its way to VCE. The wifi is fine except for the continuing need to log in. The morning breakfast is good and will fuel you up for the day to Venice and environs. The hotel is a pleasant walk down the street to downtown Mestre shopping and the lovely Piazza Ferretto. Mestre itself is quite charming. I would visit again.

Perfect location for visiting Venice & very reasonable price. For a city break I look for clean hotel, helpful staff & convenient location..this hotels ticks all the boxes. 2-3 minute walk round the corner gets you to the tram stop, which takes about 10-15 mins to get right into Venice...perfect! The tram is very modern & clean and runs until about 11:30/12:00, we felt very safe on it. The tram tickets can be purchased from reception or from a tobacco shop 5 mins walk into mestre. Main mestre train station is about 25-30 min walk (it was hot & we were tired!). Hotel is smallish and dated but no complaints. Nice continental breakfast too, which set us up for the day.

The customer service at Hotel Castello was excellent. The rooms were small and dated, but very clean. There is a luggage elevator but not a passenger elevator (I guess you could get on it if you needed to). The location is a 3-4 minute walk to the bus station and about 15 minutes to get you into Venice island. If you aren't looking for anything fancy and don't want to pay the ridiculous prices of staying on Venice Island then this is fine. We stayed one night and had no problems. There is a mall within walking distances as well as many restaurants to chose from.

Great hotel in a very handy location to Venice, just a short tram ride away, tickets available in reception. The best thing for us was the reception staff, so helpful, knew exactly what we needed and even offered to book a restaurant for us in a different city we were travelling to as we don’t speak Italian. So good!

The hotel is very close to the tram stop to get to Venice. Buffet style continental breakfast all what you need in the morning. Room was spotlessly clean and tidy with provided toiletries, well air conditioned , daily room service made my short stay very pleasant. Staff was very helpful guiding and showing directions to tram stop and gave a map of Venice and most visited places. Only one thing I was dissatisfied that walls are paper thin that any noise from neighbour room is basically very disturbing.

After looking at many reviews my friend and myself settled on this hotel. We arrived by taxi from the airport as it was quite late at night. We headed to our room and were pleasantly surprised as it was very roomy and clean also a bonus is a free safe in your room. The following morning went down for breakfast - rolls, cold meat, cheese, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, coffee, 3 flavours of juice as well as packets of biscuits and french toast. We both found the selection plentiful and tasty. It cetainly set us up for walking round Venice. The only drawback I found was that the dining room was very small for the size of the hotel so some had to wait for a group to leave before being able to be seated. If on a timed schedule this could cause a problem (I will say it never actually affected us but saw people waiting in the foyer for a table). The staff were all very helpful and we found we could buy tram tickets for 3 euros each which was for a return trip into the centre of Venice. The tram stop is roughly 5 minues walk away, run every 12 minutes and takes about 15 minutes to get to Venice. Sot he hotel was in a great location for travel. The room was tidied every day and the towels were changed as well. The air conditioning was a bit of a let down as we were there for 4 very sunny days! I do not think it worked but only made a noise. As mentioned by at least one other person the bathroom was quite tight spaced and the shower tray very slippery. The shower curtain only kept the floor dry if you wet it and stuck it to the wall!. The beds are quite hard but that suited me but maybe not others. With all the walking round Venice every day it was a pleasure to get a good nights sleep. For the price we paid it was a great base for us. We paid before we went and will only say that if you budget tightly beware there will be city tax to pay on checking out, in our case 4 nights for 2 people it was 19.20 euros. If you are unaware it could come as a shock. Overall I definitely recommend this hotel for someone who wants to see Venice and not pay Venice city prices. There were many nationalities staying there and there were couples and families.

The main reason we booked this hotel was for it's location which is within an easily commutable distance of Venice. The staff then highlighted how simple it was to get to the islands and they are a licensed reseller for transportation tickets for the tram/bus network and Venice's water buses. There is a tram stop about a five minute walk away which drops you right in the heart of the Venice so, location-wise, this hotel is spot on. The staff themselves were incredibly helpful and detailed when telling us about the network and about the hotel itself and I felt if we had any further queries, they wouldn't have any issues answering them. Budget-wise, the room is kind of what we should have expected for what we paid. The air con was non-existent (I'm sure the unit was broken), the room basic and the bathroom was a small deathtrap. The shower had a flimsy piece of material (I think it was meant to be a curtain) to pull across which, naturally, was not waterproof so having a shower meant creating a swimming pool as well. The floor of the shower was made of a material which meant you slipped as soon as it was soapy. Both my partner and I nearly slipped over on separate occasions in the shower itself and when leaving the bathroom. The hard flooring in the room was dangerous if your feet were still damp in any way. On another note, the hotel has parking, free, if you can grab a space. If not, theres space on the street or around the flats nearby (despite the signs telling you it is forbidden unless you're a resident; it's Italy, they don't read signs!). Breakfast was limited but the food that was there was nice. Overall, if you're on a tight budget, I'd say this hotel is a good choice. If you have the money, maybe find somewhere a little more comfortable.
