We had just a fantastic Service at the Hotel Russo Palace. Mr. Stefano in the reception was absolutelly the best and made our stay marvellous stay in Lido even better. That attitude is something I wish we could copy for others as well. Alos we stayed the first 2 nights in the Basic dbl room (room nbr 4) in the reception level. The room was brilliant and we had our "own" little patio there. Of course the last night in the sea view room was great, but I would when ever take again the Basic room. Thank you Stefano to make our stay so special.
From the moment we arrived, the Russo Palace hotel was welcoming and friendly. All of the staff speak multiple languages and are very helpful. The hotel is in a fantastic location for visiting Venice, a short boat ride from all the main attractions, but away from the thronging tourist magnet of the center. Venice Lido is worth a visit on it's own and has some really nice restaurants, and is also a great starting point for a tour of the other Venetian islands. Would definitely return to Russo Palace.
We stayed here this June 2017 had a very nice time only 11min walk from the boat terminal and fist stop on the boat transfer from the airport The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very nice and plenty of it , bed a bit firm. And bathroom a bit small but lovely view of the lagoon and we will definitely be returning again ideal place to get away from the crowds of Venice and cool of in the sea the beach is 15 min walk away
When we come to Venice mainly to visit Biennale, we normally stay at Lido because it's less crowded but also because we love the relaxed atmosphere over there. This time we choose Russo Palace and indeed we were really pleased by the kindness of the team, the accurate details and the breakfast buffet with fresh fruit and home made cakes / pancakes. Mr. Stefano gave us a very warm welcome and also very useful tips. I am sure that we will return soon
Russo Palace Hotel is a short walk from the vaporetta water bus ride that we took from the airport. It was a nice walk along the water front. The hotel faces the waterfront on the quiet Lido island. We were greeted by a friendly staff member. She was very helpful as we had many questions about eateries, ferry information and shopping. We were very happy with her recommendations. We were accommodated quite nicely as they put our friends room next to ours. We were in a quiet alcove of the hotel. The rooms were nice, shower great and beds comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. We had everything we wanted. There were lots of choices. After spending a hectic time at Venice, it was wonderful to return to the quiet area of the hotel. If you wish to eat on the island, there are a lot of restaurants to choose from on the main street which is a 10 minute walk from the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel.
We were staying in a different hotel on the Lido but decided to change hotels so we visited a few. The moment we walked in we were greeted by a smiling and super welcoming man at the reception, Stefano, who was kind enough to show us two rooms and even gave us a discount on the price. We chose a room with a terrace overlooking the lagoon upon his suggestion. We did not regret it ! The view was breathtaking. The area is quiet and peaceful. The room was a little small but has everything (it is not a newly built building so it has the Venetian charm). Everything was clean in the room and bathroom. There was an electric kettle provided with tea and coffee (which is not always a given in many hotels). For those who fancy a drink you can ask a glass of wine (or a coffee) at the reception which is open 24 hours. Breakfast was very good. There was good variety of sweet (the chocolate croissants were excellent !) and salty food (scrambled eggs and bacon are always a great plus in y book !) and hot and cold beverages. The person serving in the breakfast area was also very nice. The ferry to Venice is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. And free parking is available all around the hotel. The car ferry stop is also reachable within 10 minutes from the hotel. All in all I would recommend this hotel. It is super clean and the staff is great !
They are basically like camping. The Hôtel hasn't been refurbished for years and is certainly not 4 stars. The comforters are not clean and sheets are very itchy and the beds are uncomfortable. The breakfast buffet is crawling with ants and food is left out all day - so unsanitary. Really should be reported.
Having just arrived at this hotel , I felt I had to write a frank and honest review about our welcome, first impressions etc. Having booked this online for my partner's birthday getaway, I read with delight the previous reviews, thinking this sounded lovely as a base for exploring Venice, albeit a 20 minute waterbus ride away. It's based on the waterfront of the Lido, a once fashionable(once being the operative word here!!) residential district, 2 km across the main canal estuary away from St Mark's Square etc. The guide book said it's right next to the Bus terminal, it isn't, it's half a mile's walk from it (ok, not too bad for a stroll on a warm day but not with suitcases). Upon arriving we were met by a seemingly friendly receptionist but this demeanor soon changed upon us discovering our room was the "budget" room on the fourth floor where the sloping ceilings in all three rooms (allowing for less than 3 foot at their shortest point) are suited to midgets and small children only. I'm 6 ft 5 inches tall and so went down to ask for a different more suitable room, she said there weren't any other rooms as the hotel was fully booked. After some strong protesting from me about back injuries and unsuitable arrangements, etc she finally miraculously found another room on the ground floor. Having few other options to consider, we had to accept this room. I think the hotel is very dated and is not worth the money being charged online as it's definitely "budget" accommodation but without the "budget" price tag. I would strongly advise that you book elsewhere as this hotel is not worth making the journey across to the Lido for.
If this review was just about the staff I would have awarded 4 stars. They were friendly and helpful throughout except regarding the issue below. The location was also lovely a short walk along the coast to the vaparetto which takes 10mins to Venice. There is little to do or see on the Lido and it shuts down at sundown (Venice does too) However this was known in advance. The hotel was generally clean and tidy. Breakfast was standard buffet-not standard 4 star. The problems were with our room. This was room 2 one of the 2 budget rooms on the ground floor. We were immediately disappointed by the small size of the room and it's odd shape. It was also a bit tatty and tired and the window opened into the sidewalk. However we were not prepared for the horrible smell of blocked drains coming from the bathroom. This persisted even with the extractor fan on continuously and taps turned on. When we complained we were told this happened when it rains in Venice-very poor. We were eventually offered room 1also on the ground floor.First impressions better. It was bigger and didn't smell as bad but other issues were the same so still poor. We were eventually offered another room which was much better but we had to pay 25 euros a night extra. We could also only have this room for 2 nights of our 4 booked. After this we had to return to room1. Unfortunately this room by then also smelt like our original room. We managed this by keeping the bathroom door closed at all times and spending as little time as possible in the hotel but showering and using the loo was horrible. Neither of these rooms are fit for human habitation. We were glad to leave and will not be returning. My very serious advice is (other than don't book this hotel) to ensure you contact the hotel in advance of booking to ensure you are not accommodated in room 1or 2.You will be very unhappy if you end up there and don't expect the hotel to be sympathetic or helpful.
A lovely, small and very individual hotel. Only a few minutes' walk along the wanterfront to the ferry and Vaporetto stops. Nice breakfast with a sufficient choice of products. Very friendly staff and affectionate concierge. Rooms have got a beautiful view on the bay but could be more spacious. Beautiful sunsets. Close to some nice restaurants.
