Relais Piazza San Marco0.0 out of 5.0

Great choice! I am reading comments regarding Relais Piazza San Marco, and it feels as if I stayed at a different hotel than some of the guests who left bad reviews. Yes, the room was dark, but I wouldn't expect anything different in the hotel that is surrounded by other buildings. Not exactly my taste when it comes to decor, but it had a lovely character. The bathroom was clean. The room was warm and dry. Before checking-in, I was a little concerned about mold and humidity, but it wasn't an issue at all. The receptionists were very kind. My family and I absolutely loved being just seconds away from San Marco square. I will never forget those charming evening walks around the square. The only drawback I could mention was low water pressure when showering. Memorable vacation!
This so called hotel is dirty, dark and is not representative of the photos. We booked a room turned up and were given something completely the opposite in another building. Basic services such as wifi were not free, in fact it was very expensive. Staff at reception didn't really care. Feeling ripped off.
What a stunning location, closer to the San Marco Square and the Patriarchal Cathedral Basilica of Saint Mark, commonly known as Saint Mark's Basilica, you cannot stay!!! We arrive early at the hotel and the management allowed us to store our luggage until the room was done. This gave us more time to explore the city. The views from the room and happy sounds from the thousands of people on the square as well as the bells from Basilica and Bell Tower were something very special! We had room no.60( the best ) and it was really spacious, clean and well equipped. Although breakfast was served in the room is was more than enough. Perfect location to explore!!!!
Well if you are looking for the worst hotel in Venice you are done! 1st you have to check in in other building be careful if you need something there is no reception (nobody it's really closed) after 7pm and until 10am the air conditioning isn't working the hotel is on a terrible state ! look at my pictures ! and price is higher than other beautiful hotels like splendid hotel or the 2 princes or others ! I booked at splendid hotel after this horrible experience and we could enjoy Venice finally:) pic 1 room air conditioning pic 2 pool on the floor under air cond. pic 3 room door pic 4 hotel corridor pic 5 hotel corridor
I'm pretty disgusted by this place. First of all, it's not a hotel, they take you to another building with a long hallways, several flights of stairs and some rooms. No elevator. You have to write down what you want for breakfast, hang it on the door and they'll bring it to you in the morning. They make you sign a paper all in Italian and once I asked the reception guy what I was signing he snapped and said; well, for polizia (police) but still didn't say why I signed three different sections and what the content was. The room's windows are facing a wall. You can hear everything from the street. The pics taken from different areas in the room should say it all. The websites should stop deceiving people into believing this hotel is a 4 star hotel.
The main selling point of this hotel is it's incredible location - it's right on St. Mark's Square and if you book a room with a view you'll have the Basilica right outside your window. The Square stays busy and noisy right through to midnight and you have the chiming bells all through the night so these rooms may be best avoided if you like some peace and quiet to fall asleep to. The hotel has no staff onsite from 7pm and offers no meals but there is obviously plenty of choice right outside the door for supper or breakfast. The hotel is also split across 2 separate buildings so this should be noted if booking multiple rooms. The reception were very friendly and helped us print tickets for the day attractions we were visiting. A couple of comments - the air con in our room wasn't really adequate enough for the summer heat and also the free wifi didn't work.
My partner and I stayed here on the 14th of July for 7 days. The hotel is just of St Marks Square which can be hard to find. The hotel has two separate buildings which is clear on Expedia but perhaps not on other sites after reading reviews. We had a superior suite with views of the square so once checked in a Porter took our cases and the manager escorted us to the other building. Its only a few minutes away from the other building. There is no lift so once checked out bear this in mind for cases. Porter was friendly and manager. The room was massive if perhaps outdated. Carpet in need of replacement as well as shower. Plenty of storage space and bathroom massive. Something sized bed and huge room. Biggest room we have had in Italy, and big for Venice. No English channels on TV but we didn't mind as not why in Venice lol. Breakfast served everyday in room. You pick what you want and select time. Guaranteed within 20 minutes. Some days it may arrive later or earlier than requested but that didn't bother us. Eating breakfast over looking square was beautiful everyday. Staff were extremely friendly every morning. There is a great snack bar next to hotel that is open till late if you want to get away from the noise and eat lunch in room. If you are in a suite you get a key to access, all very secure and quiet. A few stairs so not for anyone with mobility issues. It is clear on website that reception is unmanned after certain time so call ahead. Can be noisy with the bells from the square but that's to be expected. We had a great stay, massive room, friendly service. Rooms very clean and great location. There are quite a few water bus stops near the hotel as the water bus from the airport has direct routes here so no need to pay 100 euros. We found the hotel bout 15 minutes walk from one. We would recommend this hotel if you go for the suite as very private and great for couples.
Although the room matched the photo, this 'hotel'' is barely anything other than a dos house. Trying to find it wasnt easy even after asking for instructions which arent clear on Bookings.com. It wasnt clear when booking that they close Recpetion at 7pm - a little tricky when travelling alone with two suitcases and arriving at the train station at 5.20pm (not knowing where the transport was). Had to pay an additional NZ$100 for the water tax to arrive before they closed the door. Had to leave my heavy bags at street level to walk up the many stairs to reception. then wait for a porter, then walk around an ally way to another door and up more shabby stairs to the room. The view did look over the square but also onto a room with huge containers stacked on it - not a pretty sight. Pity I didnt realise it was a non refundable deposit as they whipped out the NZ$288 the day I booked it and couldnt change my mind. Horrible hotel, couldnt wait to leave. No breakfast included. Much much nicer places to stay for the same amount in similar location.. Dont do this one.
Travelling alone can be a little daunting but also very rewarding. In this case it was daunting. Although the photo looked amazing I made the biggest mistake of booking a non refundable reservation as I wanted to keep my budget under NZ$300 per night in Venice and the Bookings.com "Last Room" scenario tricked me into it Do not take this hotel if you can afford a little extra as the NZ$100 cost of the water taxi to get there before it closed for the night at 7pm cancelled out the budget I had in mind. There are many other much nicer hotels in Venice. The room was beautiful, but it didnt feel nice being there having to walk down a grubby ally, leave my bags at the door to go upstairs to check in, then taken around the corner and up more shabby carpeted stairs through a dark dining area next to my room. I was also told there was no breakfast facility or room to have it in - Well there it was in front of my eyes in the morning with guests eating in it. Breakfast was not included in my NZ$288 cost. Appalled and surprised that Bookings.Com actually list this place. I couldnt wait to leave the next morning even though I had asked for a late checkout. Creepy.
We stayed in this hotel as a family for one night (2 adults / 1 Child). We liked its proximity to the Piazza San Marco while at the same time not too close so as to have to deal with excessive noise from the tourists. The rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast is served in the room (and was great.) Please notice that the reception is not permanently staffed and that luggage needs to be carried up to the first floor (higher floors have an elevator.)
