If you are staying in Venice for more than just a couple of days, this hotel on the Lido is wonderful. The Lido is on the major vaporetto lines, but is tranquil. Villa Mabapa is 10-15 mins walk from the vaporetto stop on the Lido (in the summer there is a nearer one), but it is a joy to walk along the very edge of the lagoon from the hotel to the vaporetto in the morning as you head into Venice, or in reverse at the end of a long day of sightseeing. Another big plus: if you are travelling around Italy with a car, the #17 car ferry from the Tronchetto takes you directly the the Lido and drops you just a 30 second drive from the hotel. No worries about schlepping luggage through Venice! Rooms with direct views on the lagoon are preferred, but of course cost more, but the outdoor bar looks over the lagoon. The restaurant is good, and all the staff our outstanding. We've stayed at this hotel 3 or 4 times over the years and always consider it a treat.

This is an out of the way gem in Venice. Rooms are medium sized and very clean. Hotel is a 10 minute very easy walk to downtown and the ferry station. Ferry runs ever half hour and if you take it to the Ferro Via, which is the train station in Venice, it is like taking a mini cruise on the Grand Canal. Staff is amazing, they go out of their way to attend to your every need. They have outdoor seating for meals as well as an outdoor bar for happy hour.

The Hotel Villa Mabapa is a gem. I stayed with my husband, and 2 young adult children while visiting Venice. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The rooms are charming, the gardens are lovely. There are beautiful antiques in the common areas, and I enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the canal. We ate at the restaurant and had the best pasta pesto I have ever had in my life. The very kind chef, Ergent Jahaj, was kind enough to give me the recipe. The beds were comfortable. I would highly recommend Hotel Villa Mabapa when visiting the magical city of Venice.

From the website and when i found Villa Mabapa on Booking.com, perhaps the photos are misleading. It is a four star but i think as a much travelled hotel stayer it should be a 3 star. We moved room immediately because the building aside from the main house bedrooms were coloured like easyjet. The manager was more than helpful ( as were all the excellent staff) and we were moved to the main Villa into a reasonable and not orange room. we stayed 4 nights and it was comfortable and there was an excellent breakfast. The location is perfect for the quieter location of Lido with easy access to boats to St Marco. The Villa needs a lick of paint and attention to change the mustard carpets and cheap blue and purple washed walls which does the lovely villa no favours.

Upon contacting this hotel before arriving I asked about gluten free products which they said they had and had to chase them twice. They kept sending through generic emails about trying to offer taxis etc. Every morning I had to ask for gf muesli as staff did not bother to restock despite the hotel not being that busy, this became tiresome to do this on holiday. The rooms were cold, dated and the bed - hard as a rock!!!! This is nothing like a 4 star hotel, there is a HUGE difference between this and 5 star! After hardly being able to sleep the first night went to ask Reception if they could put a topper on the bed, they don't have any and didn't come up with any other solutions besides telling me all off Venice is like this (which I doubt). Basically they weren't going to do anything so my partner came up with the idea (not them) off folding about 5 duvet covers in half under the sheets. Helped a bit but still sore back daily which does ruin your holiday as you are tired and in pain. I did ask to see an upgrade room upon arriving as shocked at so basic, it's like this hotel has been left in the 80's. The upgrade room was no different despite a better view. Wanted to charge 80 Euros with a discount to 40 per night, no thanks. The Reception staff were never over happy to see you and seemed like they were fed up all the time with low level moods despite not being busy. We were in one of the outer buildings off the hotel not the main part and the stairwell and hallways were solid marble so noisy when people left early/came back late. The toilet in the bathroom is so close to the door it's uncomfortable to sit on. Asked the Reception staff if they could clean up sand off the floor as we went to the beach, still came back to sand on the floor (photo attached). The only plus side to this hotel is The Lido is very quiet, & the shower head is good, that's it about this hotel. Honestly I would find some where on the main part off Venice so you don't have to take taxi boats back and forth and am sure you can find a more modern up to date hotel.

The hotel is calm and nice - the interior is not super modern, but clean. The staff is friendly, if not always that great at replying to mails too quickly. We had a most wonderful balcony to the back of the building - the flowers were in full bloom and it was really nice to relax there before going off to explore Venice. The boat ride isn't too far, and I actually enjoyed that that way I could see the Canal a couple more times. For younger travelers: I felt that most people were between 50 and 70 - in itself not a problem, and I ended up having great conversations. But if you're looking for a bit of excitement, this may not be your hotel.

Really a big disappointment, this hotel is not a 4 star hotel. The rooms are totally dated for a 4 star, plus it is well mentioned that there is a private parking ... FALSE, there is a course where you will find 5 parking spaces. I used to go in a 5 star hotel, the service is really a big disappointment. I thought there was going to be a minimum of service but no. The reception pretended to empathize with us, with no resolution to the problems. Example: no more free place for the evening of December 31st. When I called them 5 days in advance to find out if I could already booked. They confirmed that I could book at the hotel. But then, at the hotel, they told me "sorry, no more places". It was just a fake news to enroll more client, while they knew that there was already no place.

A very nice and calm hotel on the calm Lido Island. Rooms very clean. Friendly staff and good breakfast. A short walk away from the public water transport where u can cross to the charming city of venice. All in all good and recommended.

We stayed here for 5 nights. Lovely building, great breakfast and very helpful staff. It is nice to be away from the busy Venice centre but you will have to take the boat every time you want to go to Venice. Free bike hire, so we did a 3,5 hour bike ride around Lido.

We started out tour of Venice here on Lido, the Villa Mabapa was quaint and charming . The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. Breakfast each morning is included. Nice outdoor bar area for evening drinks, and it is located directly across from the water. Easy walk into town, great little place away from the busy city of Venice.
