This property was well placed in the city. The staff were amazing and the breakfast was fabulous. The room was small, outdated and the bed was against the wall, making it difficult to get out of bed during the night. There was a bad odor in the room but that could be due to the recent flooding. For our first adventure to Venice, this place was satisfactory.

Great location. Very welcoming staff. Unfortunately my room had a view of a wall. Very average breakfast. You get whet you pay for.

hotel is located very close to all major sights. Room size is fine, however, a ceiling is only less than 7 foot high.

we only stayed one night at this hotel on July 22 . the location is great , minutes from San Marco and a 10 minute walk to the bridge . The price was very good considering the location , the hotel is old but you're in Venice ...everything is old!! Bathroom and bed were clean , free breakfast was very good . No elevator but we didn't mind as the bellhop carried up our suitcase for us for 1 euro tip. first impression of the reception wasn't good as we were a bit nervous leaving our passport with him for an hour but we had to do this at ALL the hotels in Italy so don't freak out ! I forgot my iphone on the front desk and thought I was pickpocketed on the way to the hotel . Luckily the guy at the front desk was HONEST and put it away for me , he could have easily kept it!! for this reason I gave it 5 star rating but I would of gave it a solid 4 star either way .

The staffer that checked us in was strange to deal with. It just felt awkward, then he walked us down a shady alley to the building with our room in it.

Hotel Castello is not as nice as the pictures look. The staff were unfriendly. Experienced problems checking in with my voucher. First staff member we encountered was unwilling to help with this, but the second one was able to sort it for me. There is wi-fi available only on the main floor until 11:00pm but the lights were always turned off much earlier than that and the impression we weren't welcome. The breakfast was OK, nothing special. The patio looked nice but the furniture was covered in gross black cat hair.

The location is excellent since it is only steps away from St. Mark's Square. The room was nice, but the temperature control didn't seem to work. The bathroom was in decent shape, but the shower door had been removed and replaced with a curtain. This caused water to leak out onto the floor and caused the curtain to "attack" me while I was showering. The staff was very nice and the breakfast was great. I would stay again, but would prefer if they fixed the shower and thermostat.

The location was super-convenient and the staff was attentive and polite. There was a complementary breakfast, which was simple and clean. Internet access charge was reasonable. The major downside was the size of the rooms; they were cramped. We did not experience any smells that others have commented upon.

Hotel Castello was exceptional. Great location, friendly and helpful staff, spotless rooms, and (unusual for Europe) spacious bathrooms. Castello could not have been better.

Hotel Castello is centrally located by St. Mark's Square and a quick walk to the Grand Canal to catch the vaporetto. The rooms are comfortable and small, the continental breakfast delightful and the staff very helpful. Most of the staff speak english well. The only thing I would change is to turn the pre-set air conditioning a little cooler in the summer! There are a lot of excellent restaurants close by as well.

Great location! Hotel Castillo is centrally located in San Marco in Venice. Easy check in , friendly staff, great breakfast. Ornate, outdated room but very clean.

Hotel Castello is a lovely little hotel off of St. Mark's Square that is centrally located. Most of the staff speak english and the dining and sitting areas are lovely as well as the continental breakfast. The rooms are smallish and the air conditioning is pre-set and was a little warm for me. The bathroom had a great shower so I guess there is a trade off! I would recommend it because of the location and the great caring staff.

The hotel is situaded in an ecelent point for those people who want to stay in the most important places to visit. there dosent found special amenities at the hotel but if you gone there for visit and you have no much money is an excellent option.

The best feature of this hotel was that it was located within walking distance of St. Mark's square. The room we had was supposed to accomodate 4 adults but it was very crowded.

The Castello has to be just about the best value for your money in probably the most expensive city in Europe. The rooms are on the smaller side and like everywhere else in Venice the building is old. The rooms are very clean and the bathrooms are decent. The hotel staff is friendly and more then willing to help. The hotel is the closest you will get to St. Marks Square without paying the big bucks for staying on the waterfront. It is about two blocks and a bridge away from the square (about 3 minutes). Totally worth it. Venice is beautiful.
