Paid just a little extra for Canal view/superior room and Wow, stunning views over the canal, bathroom good although shower water went from hot to cold certain times of the day. King size bed, thoughbed was a touch on the hard side, the breakfast was taken in the well looked after courtyard/ garden from 7-30 to 10-30, can't complain something for everyone. Hotel had no bar but a small little bar next door where you could sit outside and watch the world go by. The room had a free safe. Great reception staff who were helpful and friendly and answered all my questions with a smile. Only draw back if you are a light sleeper like me (and I always do) take some ear plugs as the street cleaning team and the dustbin barge start work at 6-45 am, and the church bells start at 8-00, but otherwise could not fault the hotel. Like some other comments, the walk to the bus station 7/8 minutes and not 15 mins. Plenty of bars, restraunts, shops, in the area, too many to mention, smashing quick food shops just along from hotel, pack sarnies up for day from them. !0 minute walk to main train station (went to Verona for day) must do and take the little train (5 euro) rond all the sights. Acvo transfer bus runs every 20 mins from bus for 17 euro return and the trip takes 20 minutes. Any more questions on anything and I be glad to answer.
The location of this hotel was good, within a 15 walk of the bus station. Good restaurants within easy reach. Our room was disappointing. Absolutely no view at all so we kept the net curtain closed during our stay. The bed was comfy and everything was clean, but it appear a bit dated and tired. The wifi had broken down so we were without that. The breakfast was excellent, in the garden room. Plenty of choice and help yourself. They have a problem with pigeons which they need to deal with. There appeared to be a lot of people staying at the hotel and they were coming from all different directions to breakfast.
Brilliantly located between two vaporetto stops, accessible from the airport by water taxi, comfortable beds , good sized rooms , great continental breakfast. Near the centre but not too near therefore cheap eateries nearby. Only downside - feeble wifi but then, it is a fifteenth century former palazzo!
While the staff was very friendly, unfortunately, that's the only nice thing I have to say about this hotel. The rooms were extremely tiny and dreary. I understand Venice is old and that's part of the charm but this hotel was just not kept up enough to be considered charming. We specifically booked this hotel because it said there was air conditioning, which maybe there is, but they don't tell you even if it's working it's only on seasonally. And, apparently, in May, even if the weather is warm, it's not on. We were told we would just have to make due with the window open. Our window overlooked a dirty rooftop and provided little to no breeze or airflow. The worst part of all this was not that we barely slept because it was uncomfortably warm at night but because we were eaten alive by mosquitos. I had several bites on my face and my husbands shoulders and back were covered with bites as well. So again, while the staff is friendly, they make no apologies for your discomfort so in my opinion your money can be spent better elsewhere.
Easy to find hotel 5 minutes from the bus station on arrival met with really attentive staff on reception and nice guy who took our cases up to the room which had a fab balcony overlooking a canal . The room itself was brill only prob was the shower which was poor but didn't detract from our stay breakfast was perfect and to sit in the courtyard eating it was pure pleasure so thank you al sole .
This hotel is so easy to get to, we arrived into Venice and it took us about 10 minutes to walk with our cases to the hotel. Welcoming staff who were happy to spend time answering any questions and giving guests a good amount of information on the area. Both myself and my mum loved the smart traditional style of the building and pretty garden for breakfast. Only a 10 minute walk to the Water bus stop and less to the nearest square with restaurants and small shops. The room and hotel in general was very clean and housekeeping were very good! We had a canal view room on the 3rd floor as my mum doesn't like mosquitoes (I read online that there may be some around when it gets hotter) and we were both absolutely fine. Only reasons that this is a 4 star review are ...the toaster at breakfast was awkward to use and either really burnt or undercooked the bread (other guests found it a bit difficult to use too) and the tv (don't watch it much but nice in the evening) only had BBC News or American News in English so very glad that we both brought books along. My mum loved our stay and said if she ever goes back to Venice she will be staying at the Al Sole! :)
Lovely traditional Moorish looking hotel right by a canal and bridge. Five minutes walk from the bus terminal so handy for the inevitable pulling of the luggage from the airport bus. Several nice restaurants nearby and the walk from there to Saint Mark's Square is full of interesting streets and ginnels. Friendly helpful staff. Wifi free if a touch haphazard. Rooms are modest but then it is three star. Breakfast in the price was surprisingly full with cereals, boiled eggs, cheese and meats as well as several types of croissants and bread with a range of hot drinks. Lovely to be served breakfast in the garden. The only negative, which is not the hotel's own fault is that the refuse boat arrives early morning and the noise of the various hotels and restaurants emptying their glassware is huge!
I stayed at this hotel for a school trip. I appreciated the accommodations and found the hotel charming with its physical room keys and cute furniture. However, several people on my trip, including one of my roommates, had things stolen out of our rooms. I'm glad I wasn't a person who was affected, not to my knowledge at least, but after sharing what went missing with other people I felt unsafe and angry. The only people who had access to our rooms while we were gone had to have been housekeeping and other hotel staff, because of the single copies of room keys that were always left at the front desk while we were gone. I hate to blame it all on housekeeping because the hotel staff was very kind and welcoming, but this is important enough to leave a review for.
This is an old Palace. So has tons of charm. Staff is very nice. It's close to bus terminal so you can take bus to terminal and walk to this hotel but it is far from St Mark's Square and the popular area's so be prepared to walk.
This hotel was close to the vaporetto stop and the train station, both really nice things when wanting to get around. It wasn't too close to St. Mark's Square, which was good because that area is swamped with people during the day. There were several pretty good restaurants just down the street from the hotel. It serves breakfast in the mornings, but the spread is somewhat minimal. The room had ants in the bathroom, and as in all Italian hotels, no A/C, so there is need to open the windows to have air circulating. Overall, it was a good place to stay for a few days.
