We were in new Zealand for 3 weeks and this was by far the worst hotel we stayed in while we were there. It's clean (just) but VERY outdated and tired. For example - green velvet curtains and pink velvet lounge that was really saggy. If the price reflected the state of the hotel it would be fine but it doesn't. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of choice and it's probably taken advantage of. We stayed in some beautiful places while on our trip, with better amenities etc for much better prices. If it was $25 cheaper per night might have been a little more acceptable. Minuses: No microwave No toaster No cutlery, plates or bowls. No ceiling lights - only bedside lamps.
Only stayed one night but the hotel was a delight, in the middle of nowhere but near the fantastic view of Mount Cook. Large rooms clean and comfortable, had a great nights sleep.Evening meal was lovely and breakfast plentiful and varied. Staff extremely helpful and friendly.
Location a better choice than Tekapo. The drive here was amazing and the arrival at the hotel just added to our day. It is a great place to stay. Large rooms with big windows and balcony. Our room had a view of Mt Cook. The style is of it's time but is now in vogue again. It is as if it had just been built. Very comfortable, friendly and helpful staff. Very good restaurant. Highly recommend.
This hotel is probably more like a motel - plenty of parking and easily accessed rooms. We didnt eat or use the facilities - but the rooms were large, clean, comfortable and had a good sized fridge and tea/coffee making facilities.
Stated elsewhere a basic, comfortable in the middle of no where in a town that was supposed to be torn down. Dining was very adequate. Rooms are large, comfortable with good beds. Bath is old school, but very functional. All and all a good stay.
We'd a good stay here. Our room was big and clean with nice view. Has also private parking. Location is good, close to the restaurant and fuel station. Staff was kind and helpful. Would recommend this hotel.
Stayed here for 1 night. Good sized room with comfortable bed. Also able to do some laundry here. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel a bit dated but clean and tidy. Buffet meal good but not exceptional. Could be more choice of vegetables and desserts.Overall pleasant but hotel rates and food and drink a little overpriced.
We were here for one night stay. Hotel is very basic with big size rooms and two queen size beds. Bathrooms are ok, with old fittings. Service is slow. Dinner and breakfast was ok nothing special. Food quality was average. Our room was facing lawn with nice view. They have bikes on rent.
Stayed there two nights and were happy with our room. Had everything we needed: a good bed, good bathroom, etc. did not had dinner or breakfast there. Tried to drink a few wines in the bar, but seems we are not welcome there: service is poor, no one there, or busy with everything else than offering drinks. Also bar closes before 10pm. But for just a room with bed and bathroom, it is ok.
I feel that for $200/night it was probably the most dated hotel I've ever stayed in. The bedroom was a good size but the bathroom felt like stepping back intime 30 years. I quite enjoyed the breakfast and location was good but I think it was extremely overpriced for what you get.
