Typical Japanese living
We had a great stay at Kamon Inn Yanagihara. You received an email 2 days before with the instructions of how to reach the property and access codes. We had contacted the staff before always replied and were very helpful. The house is a typical Japanese house with futons and all. They provide a pocket wifi device which worked just fine. There are all amenities provided included washing machine, air-condition, microwave rice cooker etc. Upstairs there are two bedrooms so we think this place is ideal for up to 4 persons to be comfy.
The accommodation is close to 2 stations Ueno (7 mins walk) and Kitasenju (around 20-25 mins walk). We loved Kitasenju area with two big shopping malls and many food outlets around. We used to stop at a Donut place (called Krispy Kreme) Next to Ueno you find a 7 Eleven, Family Mart, Gourmet City where you can do your daily shopping and is closer. There is a playground next to the accommodation so if like us had a child it was perfect and close by another one next to a nursery. Neighbours were nice but do expect some long stares at times. :) We were to only tourist/non-Japanese in the area even at the station but that was the fun about it.
If it is your first stay in Tokyo I would not recommend the accommodation due to distance from centre (about 1 hour excluding walking time ). But if you are looking for a spacious place to stay at a great price, as well want to experience real Japanese daily life, this is your ideal place to stay.
