This was our first trip to Tokyo and we only had 48 hours. The hotel was easy to find from the train station and comfortable, though the rooms are compact. We spent some time shopping at the train station, and especially enjoyed the food market in the basement of the Tobu department store.
This was a first class hotel. The staff was friendly, understood and spoke English, and was very helpful. It was very clean throughout the hotel, room included. Our room had a small refrigerator which we really liked and also appreciated the teapot and complimentary teas. The shuttle bus directly to and from Haneda airport was also very helpful. This hotel is very close to the train station and is surrounded by shopping and eating places, not to mention the convenience stores to make quick purchases or as an alternative when most eateries are closed.
Our room had a nice view of the city even though the bathroom and furniture were a little dated. And you can't beat the location, so close to department stores with superb food from their markets, ramen and udon and other convenience stores. And the train station is 2nd largest hub after Shinjuku. Good way to eat and travel like the locals.
the room is small but clean .location is great close to the MRT.the restaurant's food ok,the service is very good.i will stay there again
This hotel is great on a budget and is right across from the train station and many restaurants. The rooms are small but cozy. The staff is very friendly.
The hotel was conveniently located walking distance to Ikebukuro train station. Rooms were clean and spacious. Good value for Tokyo.
This is a great hotel. The hotel and rooms are clean and modern. As expected, the staff speaks English and communication is not an issue. The location is very close to a metro station. The bus ride from Narita to here was amazing and showed the architectural and aesthetic beauty of the city, and made clear the excellent location of the hotel. I would definitely recommend it to others, and I would not hesitate to stay here again.
The hotel staff are excellent, with a very good location, room cleanness is also good, but the room is small if you just order semi double standard room, it enough for 2 persons stay inside, but seems not enough for the third person.
hotel was centrally located for 3 day stay. close to transit and in expensive quick dining
This hotel is 1 block away from the train station, mall, and restaurants, what more could you ask for?
Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo is a modern hotel with clean, quiet rooms. The room size was adequate but, to accommodate the king bed in my room, one side of the bed was placed against the wall, which limits access to the bed. The mattress was fine. The staff members were very helpful and, if they did not understand my question in English, they immediately got another staff person to help me. The hotel is located in the Ikebukuro area, which is not as well-known as other areas of Tokyo. However, the hotel is only a 5 minute walk to the train station that will quickly connect you to all parts of Tokyo and is a station for the Limited Express Train to Narita Airport. As an added bonus, the hotel is also serviced by the Narita Airport Limousine Bus – the bus requires less handling of luggage on your part but I still recommend the train to Narita Airport to avoid any traffic related delays. One last tip, ask for a map of the area around the hotel and have the hotel staff member point out the major street shopping and restaurant areas as they are a 10 minute walk from the hotel and may be difficult to find. I have stayed at this hotel several times as I feel that it is a good value in an expensive city such as Tokyo. Have a good trip!
Location within couple of blocks from train/subway station, small but comfortable room, good size bathroom, good deal on room,
very close to subway station and good service stuff..will come again for next trip in Tokyo!
For the most part the hotel was really clean and nice. Location was great. Only two stops on the bus from the airport (narita) and the JR line was connected to most of the big areas like Shinjuku and Shibuya. The only bad thing was they painted a part of the hotel on our last night and the smell was horrible. Also the rooms are very small but still clean.
The staff was superb, the location...well, DRR!! speaks to my ulterior motives. Honestly, it's just a few steps away from the JR line station, perfect for getting around Tokyo, everything is conveniently within reach, so if you plan to see it all within a few days, it's perfectly doable. I recommend Shibuya as a convenient dinner stop on the way back to Ikebukuro in the evening, after the day's adventures. The hotel provides robes and slippers, which is quite nice. On arrival, I asked the manager to remove a table from my room, so I could have more space, and it was handled immediately, even though it was quite late, after midnight, I believe. I used the hotel's shuttle on the way back, really convenient. Caveat: it only runs until five or so. Be sure to inquire about the specific schedule if you plan to use it on arrival. I had to use subway. Also, it is not free, as Tokyo is not small, and the trip can take up to two hours. On another note, most of the staff speaks English, if they don't they will find someone who does. There are also many convenience stores, a large shopping center, restaurants etc. within walking distance. I enjoyed my stay very much. A fair warning: I am used to small spaces. Oh, and there is a lovely bakery in the hotel building. Also, the staff took time to help plan a day trip carefully, made calls to other hotels to inquire about arrangements. The hotel has a printout of directions using Tokyo railways to get to different locations within the city, be sure to ask for it, it is super helpful, although the station masters can also help, but they may not always speak English. To sum it up, I was very pleased with the hotel.
We had two days short stay and its a very pleasant experience. The location is the key. Room is clean. Staff are helpful.
After staying in Tokyo and then going to other parts of Japan we returned to Tokyo for a few days before leaving. The hotel is located in an area that has a lot of homeless laying around. The hotel was uunder construction so it was noisy from 8am to 6pm. Our view was of the construction debris. The hotel is big and there was a large international guest presence. People were loud in the halls at night and in the morning. I would stay at a smaller, more Japanese hotel next time for the quiet atmosphere.
This hotel was conveniently located across the street from the Ikebukuro train station. It was very comfortable, and reasonably priced. There are shops and restaurants downstairs, and many options for food within a few minutes' walk. I would definitely stay there again.
Great location, less than 5 minute walk from Ikebukuro Station AND Airport Bus runs directly to hotel from Narita (2 stops) so no searching for hotel in unknown city. Great staff, friendly with good English. Tons of medium and small restaurants in area, BIC Camera, Metropolitan Mall and Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre. Quiet area and safe, Big Police Station across the street. A little thing, but great soap and shampoo in the shower.
SMALL ROOMS BUT BESIDE THAT EVERYTHING IS GREAT, THE LOOBY IS GREAT, IT HAS ALL KINDS OF FANCY RESTAURANTS, METRO STATION REALLY CLOSE WALKING FROM THE HOTEL.
