Our stay here was pleasant for the most part. The room (a king suite) was spacious, clean and up to date. We had a nice living room space with a large sectional and office as well as 2 nice TV’s. WiFi was strong and good channel selection. The bed was comfortable and plenty of clean towels and toiletries provided. A fridge and microwave also included. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the breakfast area was large with plenty of tables. A pretty good breakfast overall, complete with waffles, eggs and bacon. (Couldn’t go for the veggie sausage though.) A few minor criticisms that kept me from giving it a 4 star though: no plastic bags for laundry and trash bags. There was not an ice machine on the 3rd floor. And only 1 elevator, which was very busy. Only 2 luggage carts available so we had to wait a while to get one to bring our luggage in. No freezer in the room fridge to put my cooler ice packs in. I put them in the hotel freezer overnight, but they did not freeze, which concerned me. Also at breakfast, there was no bread for toast and the oranges in the fruit basket were pretty old. Overall though, it was a nice place and we would consider returning, but I’d bring my own plastic bags and bread.
Love this hotel! Close to alot of restaurants and the college. Very clean and staff was great. They did great on getting us rooms all together and the hot breakfast was a plus. The sales lady ( Mrs. Hoffman) helped us alot! This will be where we stay in Terre Haute.
I planned a get away with my husband for my birthday. When I checked the web sight it said they had a whirlpool. When we got there they had taken it out but had not removed it from the web sight. That was the main reason we went there. I believe that was false advertising and will never go back.
Spent one night on our way back to college and wanted to use Marriott points. This fit the bill. Central location was good, staff were friendly and room was pretty comfortable. I’m not a big fan of the A/C window units, which are loud. Breakfast was mediocre.
Everyone on the staff, from the manager to the breakfast servers made guests feel special. I loved the small hometown feeling. The elevator is a little beat up but my stay was very good. I really liked the breakfast because it featured veggie sausage both mornings that I was there and the food was good. The hotel location was very convenient to the highway, movies, restaurants, shopping & ISU's campus. I would stay here again anytime I am in town.
As I've mentioned in another hotel review, I'm a Marriott girl all the way, meaning that I'll choose a Marriott brand hotel over any other almost always. When I stayed in Terre Haute last week, I noticed that the reviews for this Fairfield Inn & Suites were lower than some of the surrounding hotels, but I kept getting price discrepancies at other places so i went with my gut and booked an Executive King Suite with the brand I trusted for a one night stay for two people. It should have been a red flag when we arrived and were told that the system had incorrectly listed a king bed as being available when it wasn't. We had really wanted the king and considered leaving just for that, but it was late and we had been driving all day, so we accepted a room with two queen beds instead at the lower price. Walking up to the room, I was struck by how tired the hotel seemed. Part of what I like about Marriotts is that most of their hotels are newly remodeled, and though it said online that this Fairfield had been updated, it didn't seem it. Our room was clean but nothing special, which again, felt unusual for a Marriott. The bathroom was a little small for two people, and the hook on the back of the door to hold the towels came off at one point. What really did me in though was the noise. There was an odd scraping/rubbing sound on the exterior of the building outside our room by the window, almost like someone was opening and closing a sliding glass door repeatedly. It was loud and very frequent, at least a few times every few minutes, and we couldn't for the life of us figure out what was making it. At one point I legitimately contemplated calling the front desk to ask for a different room because it made it very difficult to sleep, but the embarrassment of being "that person" and the hassle of packing our stuff up dissuaded me. When we left the next morning, the elevator - which had been working just the night before when we arrived at 11 PM - was out of order, which felt like a sign it was time for us to go. This hotel was by no means bad, but it definitely didn't feel up to the standards of other Marriotts I've stayed at. If I could do it again, I would choose one of the other multiple hotels in the same location, even if it meant paying a little more.
I stayed here for a night during a recent trip . The property is well maintained with clean and comfortable rooms. The front desk staff were very helpful and pleasant. Next time I'm in the area, I will look to stay here again.
An unexpected health issue necessitated that we cancel (3) rooms on very short notice; even though she was off duty, attending to a health issue in her immediate family, the manager, Lori, coorresponded with me, via email, and resolved all our problems in a very professional, efficient manner. Her dedication and willingness to balance her time between her family, her employer, and her guests is commendable. We sincerely look forward to staying at the Fairfield Inn & Suites the next time we visit Terre Haute. Thanks, Lori!
