Location is good, staff was friendly, breakfast is okay, not high, only okay. Parking is therrible if You do not get hotelparking, you car loading (2kids) its nigthmare on the street, because taxis take space. Extra parking is Viru-centre and costs -30% hotel stamp.
A stay at Tallink City Hotel feels like a stay on a ferry. Long corrdidors, guest on weekend trip from Finland to Tallin, average age ..... pretty old. On the positive side: Rooms are clean and breakfast is good.
Location! Location! Location! Even if there are several different hotels in that location I didn't have a chance to choose another one. I was on a business trip and it was my dedicated hotel to stay there because of the conference venue. It is good for a conference, well equipped, sleeping and staying alone without family to bear in my mind that I do not have to pay for it :-) That's the feeling. Old fashioned furniture, a little bit expensive (small beer for 4,50,- at the lobby bar looks like a joke in a Baltic state), standard rooms non-refundable about 100,- EUR/night = this is really a larceny... Old furniture, poor additional services but for a business and overnight/2 days sightseeing is good enough. I do not recommend this hotel at all but when you do not have a chance to choose another option it's not an end of the world. Recommended for less demanding travellers. Overall experience = good but not very good or excellent. Location excellent.
A very pleasant stay. Hotel was nice and clean and good services. Breakfast was only OK but at least nothing was cold or not fresh. I would have no problem staying here again and staying for alonger time as well. Very recommended.
This time I was very satisfied with the stay, personnel was very kind and welcoming. Room was very nice and without any specific scents, which is very important. All interactions in reception and restaurant exceeded my expectations. I was worried about car parking in the city center, but that was solved too. Many thanks
The hotel is situated just outside the Old Town, 800 m from the Town Hall Square. The Port is 1 km away. The hotel building was built in 1974 and it was very Soviet style at that time. In the early 2000's it was converted to a hotel and got a stylish glass facade. The interior is quite modern and the hotel is catering for tourist masses. The lobby was quite crowded when we arrived at 12:00. Our Royal Suite as all the suites are located on the top 10th floor. Suites and one deluxe room are facing to the back. Junior suites, one suite and three Royal Suites are facing Viru Hotel and the Old Town. Our suite was spacious and quite practical including a small sauna in the spacious bathroom. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant. The service was friendly and the food was tasty. As I had previously read from the crowded breakfast, we ordered it to our room. The delivery charge was 8 euros and 2 x 4 euros extra for the fried eggs. The amount of food was huge. The overall experience was much better than I expected from other reviews. Maybe it was dependent from the room type.
We had pleasant experience here, came with a large group and were serviced very well. Very nice breakfast with fresh fruits, veggies and fish, eggs etc. Room was renovated and clean, coffee and tea in the room and comfi beds!
I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and had a good experience. The best thing the hotel has going for it is it's location, which is right next to Old Town. The rooms were quiet and the wifi worked well, but some upgrading is in order. There was nothing separating my shower floor from the rest of the bathroom, so it got a little wet and musty. The beds were comfortable, but the covers should be changed out. The worst part was the light from outside. When I stayed, it didn't get dark until 10:30 and was light around 4 am. However, the window curtains were not sufficient enough to keep the room dark and it was hard to get enough sleep. My colleague stayed on the other side of the hotel and said his room was bright because the lights from the mall across the street poured through. I would definitely bring an eye mask if this may be a problem for you. Better yet, the hotel should just invest in better curtains. The staff was friendly and the bar was good. If you're looking to save a little money compared to other locations in town, this will be a good choice, just don't expect too much.
I would like to say thank you for a very nice personal on reception!!! Wery nice people working here! Also I liked that in hotel there are nightclub! Nice loby bar with live piano music! Little bit small rooms, but they are comfortable and clean:) Can't enjoy the breakfast, because from 9-10h there are full of people!!! Wery good location of hotel-near a lot of shops, cinema, parks and old town! I would reccomend this hotel:) 👌🏻
Stayed here before on business, my opinion has not changed, very friendly and efficient staff coupled with functional comfortable rooms and its very central location makes it a good choice for a business stay (except on the week-ends when the week-end crowds taking the ferry from Helsinki fill it to the brim). My only comment last time I stayed was the lack of a proper coffee machine at the breakfast buffet. I don't know if it was my comment that did it, but this time there was a proper espresso machine installed to provide the very necessary mornink kick - a big thank you to whoever arranged this.
