First, the good news, this hotel is in an excellent location and in general terms the service was OK. The Hotel is very clean and provides a decent breakfast even though it never varies. The staff in the breakfast dining room work very hard and ensure everything is as it should be. The rooms themselves are small doubles and poorly equipped with only small sized towels and few toiletries. There is no air, no opening window and it very quickly becomes very stuffy. In our room, the smell of drains was unmistakable and very unpleasant. A mop is provided in the bathroom because the shower water leaks under the raised tiles all over the floor! One young man on duty in the reception area had difficulty in coping when that area was busy.Neither did he know much about the open bus service and tried to sell us Tallinn tickets when they were not wanted. He really did not have a clue after keeping us waiting for over 20 minutes; it was very disappointing. In general however, reception staff were friendly and helpful The best thing about the Berne is its location. It is not somewhere I could readily recommend and regrettably I would not book there again. Much could be done to improve things, priority to be given to drains and leaking showers, followed by better quality and sizes of toweling and of toiletries. Sadly, beautiful Tallinn was not matched by a beautiful Berne!
Very positive experience. Only thing that needs improvement is ventilation and air conditioning in the rooms. Other than that it was very pleasing experience and i am happy to recommend Hotel Bern to other people.
I prefer this place as it is near the old town and yet so quiet. Nice and comfortable rooms and every morning a nice breakfast. Feel at home here. Also the friendly welcome ifelt like a warm bath. Nice and personal hotel.
We stayed at the Bern for two nights. It,s very convenient for ferry port and old town as well as all transport links. Shops and restaurants abound. The hotel looks a little shabby and dated. I didn,t like the decor in the bedroom. Cheap furnishings, not very comfortable bed and heating impossible to control. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful, others looked fed up. The breakfast was pretty good, but, again, the dining room lacked style. You could do worse than choose the Bern, but I,d look elsewhere.
I enjoyed my stay in the Hotel Bern quite a lot. Clean rooms, good breakfast, excellent location (old town is just nearby), and an exceptionally friendly girl at the recieption. Special thanks to her for the restaurant recommendations :)
The hotel is tucked away down a side street, but is very well located for both the old city and the main streets. The room was not particularly attractive, but nevertheless quite practical. We encountered one or two problems whilst there: the temperature in the room cannot be controlled, the TV remote was broken , it was reported, but not replaced, the door cards did not work after a day and sometimes the lift button proved rather stubborn. The staff, on the whole, were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was ok, but I did not like the feeling of being watched by the woman behind the desk and the scrambled egg was watery and unappetising. Tallinn is very beautiful and well worth a visit.
We have been several times in this hotel. It is small hotel and small rooms but clean and tidy. Breakfast is good enough. Old town is very near. There is couple of good restaurants near: Lusikas and Beer Garden. Rimi market is in front of hotel. Air ventilation in our room was a little bit lazy in winter.
A great place to stay in the heart of the city. The rooms are warm and clean. Wonderful breakfasts with lots of delicious cheeses, sausages, fish. Wonderful tea and coffee. Very helpful staff. We have stayed at this hotel every year for 6 years
All in all was very good, and given a chance we shall come and stay at the hotel once again. Attractions of nice old friend Tallinn are at hand; the breakfast quality is much better than in other hotels in Tallinn and even in many places over the world (from Montreal to Seoul!)
I recently stayed at Hotel Bern and had a great experience. The hotel is located right on the edge of old town, very close to the viru gates and within walking distance of restaurants, the city and most of the main attractions. For the price I paid I thought my room was comfortable, clean and spacious making it great value for money. Highly recommend.
