Followed tour group and stayed one night in New Continental hotel. Hotel building has 7 floors. Hotel location is quite good with a Welcome supermarket next to hotel that operates 24hours. So if you need instant noodles at night, it's right next door😊! Can buy your last minute souvenir if you still have money left😝. Room is not very spacious so if you have big luggage will need to lay it open at entrance to pack your bag. Breakfast is decent with both Western and Chinese food.
The location of the hotel is convenient and accessible to many shops and restaurants. The room is a bit small but it is functional. The complimentary breakfast has a selection of the traditional taiwanese breakfast and continental breakfast.
This hotel is conveniently located in a shopping area. There is a supermarket next door. It is modern with a full-length mirror and a luggage rack which are nice. I specifically requested a quiet room in the corner away from the elevator, but it appears that due to an apparent error in choosing the room number, I ended up with a room which was right around the corner from the elevator and not a corner room. Since it was our last night of our trip, I did not bother with changing rooms.
Size of the room was average for 2 person. We had the corner room, however, saw that the curtains have red stains and it seems unremovable kind. Felt creeped out by that. In terms of distance, about 5-10 mins distance to Taipei main station and another station, can't really remember. Also about 5-10 mins distance to ningxia night market. Morning breakfast...... I wouldn't recommend for it. Overall, average.
Stay in a triple room for four nights. The bed is comfortable and the room is clean. There are lots of shop nearby and couple of eateries around the corner. There is a 24 hours supermarket. The main train station and night market is nearby. This is a tourist class hotel.
Stayed one night. Pros: - Excellent location within walking distance of Taipei station - Clean no-frills room with laptop-size safe Cons: - No soundproofing and very noisy: loud guests in the hallways even after 23:00, doors slammed, etc. - Extremely slow Wi-Fi - Dismal breakfast: items cold and not replenished; no jam, fresh bread, pastries, fruit, yogurt, milk, cereal, etc. - Staff speaks hardly any English
This hotel was chosen for the type of tour we organized. I don't mind a small hotel in the city. However, it doesn't make sense for a city hotel not to have any English channel. The worst is their air conditioner. It's end of summer season. I adjusted it to around 25 degree. However, it went really cold when it's about 2am. I woke up and turned the dial to 30 degree. It didn't work at all.
Hotel looks new. Room and toilet was big. TV no english channel. Breakfast good but limited variety. Staff at restaurant very kind to show the food menu for all Muslims. Customer service was good. Have night market nearby less than 5 minutes walk. Train Station is about 15 minutes walk. It's interchange so can go different directions to explore.
On web, the place looks rather good, but it doesnt turn out to be as such. I'm not a fussy person and i have stayed at several places and a simple lodging, i'm satisfied. Whatever comes out from my pocket, i will average it with the nearby hotels to compare. There were so many people smoking in their rooms. I can smell it at the corridor whenever i step out of my room in the night to go out or come back. The TV channels were worst. There wasnt any HBO or Chinese Cinema shows to watch at all. Thank you for the bad experience
Good things: 1. Strategic location to night markets and taipei city centers 2. Friendly (mostly olders) staffs 3. Clean room Not good things: 1. Poor wifi 2. Un-recommend breakfast 3. Mostly staffs dont speak english 4. Outside sounds (traffic, rain, people shouting) still can be heard from room.
