We stayed in a two bedroom apartment and we couldn't fault it! Fantastic sized rooms with views that were amazing! Close to Circular Quay and within walking distance to a lot of other local attractions. Reception staff very friendly!
We were in a 2-bedroom apartment with Harbour View and were very happy with the living room view from Harbour Bridge to the Opera House. Quay West Suites is 5 minutes walking distance from Circular Quay, 10 minutes from the Opera House and within "the Rocks". The apartment was spacious, fully equipped (with washer/dryer), clean and in good condition. We were just not really happy with WiFi, which comes at additional cost and is limited to the use of three electronic devices.
Very clean well positioned in rhe centre of the rocks and circular quay. No need for taxis. Staff service apartments everyday. Nice pool and spa on 23rd floor. Room had laundry facilities and washing powder supplied. All round great experience.
As someone that travels a lot this site is where I mix business with pleasure. Always a good place to join up with overseas customers and show of the Bridge and the Harbour. At the bottom of the city it's easy to get anywhere, staff are great and the view from the bars and restaurant are second to none.
From the moment I booked our stay to the moment we left, we were made to feel special - something I have rarely felt anywhere in hotels. Our room had the most spectacular view (see pictures) and there were times where I had to fight to go to bed rather than just look out at the view - dumbstruck. Uninterrupted views from the Opera house past the harbour bridge. My battery charger for my camera batteries stopped working but Owen the concierge found an old mobile phone lead that also fitted and he lend us the charger for the week to save us buying a new one. Owen was attentive, knowledgable and great fun. Cleo the Manager was also really helpful and we send our sincerest thanks to her and her staff for an amazing stay. If you want a hotel room or apartment in Sydney - do yourself a favour and book it here.
I've been coming to the Quay West for ten years for business and each visit seems to disappoint me more and more. Bookings are always difficult (phone rarely answers) and once you arrive the service overall is very average. The room wasn't as clean as you'd expect of a five star hotel and I had black hair and what looked red wine drips in the bathtub. There is a Smart TV that is "locked" so you can only watch free to air TV and there are no movies available to watch. Breakfast staff were friendly but uneducated and the quality of food and was just ok. I ordered poached eggs with avocado on the first day I stayed and the meal arrived without the eggs. Only some staff knew how to make coffee. My room service dinner was extremely expensive and the pannacotta dessert was quite watery and bland. I haven given the two stars today because the scotch fillet main meal was quite nice, the location is excellent and the concierge is also alwys very friendly and helpful. Otherwise the hotel was again a bit of a let down.
For over two decades beginning in the early 1990s, Quay West was literally "home away from home" for me while conducting business in Australia. The staff remembered me each time I visited and went out of their way to make me feel at home. Since 1988, I have sponsored a major travel industry event, the Travel Symposium, in Sydney and, some years, also around Australia and New Zealand. I never hesitated to promote Quay West to attendees. Unfortunately, the apartment hotel's management and staff have continued to devolve over the years, along with the condition of the property. Today's Quay West can best be described as ill-mannered, indifferent, and cheesy. The location has even become a dangerous venue where street crime is a constant threat. I no longer promote or recommend this hotel. It is interesting only as an overpriced, fading relic of a once-hospitable apartment accommodation within walking distance of The Rocks.
I stayed in a 2 bedroom harbour room suite. There were 5 of us and I paid just $75 a night. The view was spectacular, the room was very clean, and had every amenity we required. The location is great- a few minutes walk from circular quay. The staff were efficient at check in and helpful. Breakfast was adequate, the coffee and scrambled could have been of a higher standard. But overall I can definitely recommend this place- fantastic value for a great city!
We had the unfortunatel experience of staying at Quay West during July 2017, and unfortunately my rating of the property is definitely impacted by the service. We had booked via a booking website, which was non refundable 24 hours prior to arrival. My husband and son become very sick and so I decided to contact the property, explain the situation and attempt to move the booking or cancel. I was happy to move it to a time that was not busy, but didn't want to lose the $650 we had paid. this has happened a couple of times before with other properties in Sydney with no issue, so wasn't overly concerned. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no assistance, even when I asked for this to be reviewed by a Supervisor. I am also an Accor member - made contact with them and they didn't want to help either (as I booked with a travel website). After much deliberation, and not wanting to just waste $650. which very few people can afford or want to do, we made the trip to Sydney. My son and husband did not leave the room (which you pay for the view, not the finishing - paint peeling and ripped carpet covered by a chair), and I was upset because what was intended to be a beautiful family weekend had been ruined due to a multi national hotel not wanting to miss out on their $650. It was the worst trip to Sydney that we have had and as a result, will definitely not be going back to stay here. The response of "Well, we understand that things happen, but we cannot help" will resonate with me. Then, to top it all off, when we arrive (after 2.00pm), we had to sit in the foyer and await our room which was not ready yet. Very very disappointing, and a weekend that our two kids remember as the "terrible weekend we had in Sydney".
We stayed at the Quay West Suites for my 50th birthday celebration weekend in Sydney. We were upgraded to a penthouse and there was a tray of cake and a birthday card waiting for us on arrival! The views of the harbour were spectacular. Staff were attentive. The location is great. A short stroll to circular quay.
