Don't let the name fool you this is most definitely a back packers. My room was simple and clean with a comfortable bed. Simple breakfast of toast and cereal included. Share bathrooms are shared bathrooms, one my floor they were also unisex which I really didn't enjoy seeming that the structure of the shower and toilet cubicles was quite flimsy and not very private at all. Toilets were actually so tiny I don't struggle with the size. Toilets were not very clean and that is not the establishments fault, it really depends on who you are sharing with.
We stayed at highfield private hotel it much much better than I expected very clean Adrian the owner was great when I visit Sydney again we will be staying here thank to all staff at the highfield hotel and the breakfast was great
Booked private room - shared bath, upon arrival thought it was on the small side but manageable. Easy access to WiFi and very impressed with how clean the room was as well as the bathrooms. Adrian welcomed us and very knowledgeable on the surrounding areas as well as travelled Oz and Asia. Unfortunately our 1st night sleep wasnt great due to weird clanging and banging from the person above us. Mentioned this Adrian the next morning who offered us an option to move to an upgraded room foc. Breakfast was good and location close to kings cross station, thank you for the assistance through out the stay. Bw Seb & Barbara
My stay was good, was just a little surprised i wasnt told about the bond for the key before i got there. But the rooms were clean and tidy. If your looking for a hotel close to the night life in Kings Cross, this one cant be any closer
Good location because its close to the subway and also to some really good restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful and especially child friendly. Overall we good what we expected from this place and I would consider coming back there another time.
Friendly staff. Clean and comfortable accommodation which has easy access from the airport via train. Free Internet and free breakfast. I would recommend for anyone wanting a place convenient to the city.
Highfield Private Hotel 166 Victoria Street, Potts Point NSW. Upmarket backpacker style accommodation. Located in a quiet St which is parallel to Darlinghurst Rd, the main centre of action for Kings Cross. There is no carpark and limited short street parking. The nearby parking station $76 for less than 24 hours. However the Hotel has a parking voucher ($25) which covers 24 hours parking in the Kings X parking station. Good value. The rooms are clean, tidy and mine had a flatscreen TV, bar fridge and washbasin and tap. Mr room was on level 1 and had unisex shared bathroom/toilet and kitchen on the first floor. My room had a coded door entry so no worries about room keys. There is also a coded access door halfway up the first stairwell. $50 cash room deposit. I booked my room through Agoda $173/night. Whilst expensive it was the cheapest and best quality accommodation in that area. The king sized single bed was quite comfortable. Footsteps could be heard from the above floor.
We ordered Highfield for 2 nights. Hotel more like a hostel, it has 3 advantages and 3 disadvantage and 1 -do not understand that? First about good: price, Breakfast and friendly staff. The price was one of the most competitive on the Agoda. Breakfast is simple but healthy and good: boiled eggs, oatmeal (in the microwave), cereal with milk, toast with jam or a strange cream with the taste of licorice. Orange juice, tea, instant coffee. Staff is social and friendly. A few words about the disadvantages, and they are. First and foremost. Cold. Very. 2-section oil heater saves a little, but it is incredibly cold in the shower and toilet. We are not washed in the shower - afraid of getting sick. The second drawback. King cross is considered to be a cheerful area and therefore under the window until 4am, talking, singing songs and even urinate. All this can be heard from 2 floors. Try to get some sleep! Third one -work Wi-Fi. The limit for both of us for the day was only 200 MB. Additionally, the connection is constantly interrupted, it was necessary to re-enter. The hemorrhoids! Location. 50 meters from one of the outputs of the station Kings Cross. Don't miss!
This place claims to be a "private hotel" when all it is, is a hostel/backpackers place. I had called the hotel earlier in the day to let them know that we would be arriving between 12am-2am as we were driving from Melbourne. The man I spoke to told me that once we got there, to call on the same number and someone would let us in. Once we arrived, I called the number 14 times and no one would answer. We tried calling the door bell but still nothing. We then managed to get in through a secure gate by following someone else in and managed to locate the person on duty. He then handed us 3 keys and there were 11 of us booked to stay there. When we got to our rooms, 1 of them had someone else sleeping in there so we had to resort in sleeping 11 people on 2 rooms. The next morning I went to reception to try and sort out the issue and get a refund for one of the rooms and the man told me he could not issue me a refund as I had to wait for the manager to come in and do a refund on the credit card machine. He call the manager and was told he would be there in 15 minutes. We went and got a coffee and came back after 30 minutes only to be told that he still hadn't come in and could get onto him on the phone. When we finally got him on the phone, I was told that he doesn't start his shift until 11am so I would have to wait until then to get my refund. After explaining my whole experience and utter disgust with everything about this hotel I was told "well it's not the Hilton, what were you expecting". The rooms themselves were very dirty, there was mold and stains all over the walls and ceilings, parts of the timber floors were lifting or missing, the beds were wobbly and uncomfortable and the tiny little sink in the corner stunk of urine. Some beds had sheets and others didn't and we didn't even get bath towels. There is nothing nice about this place apart from the location.
This is not a 'hotel' but a hostel. Yes, you pay for you get but this was an all time low. To start with high, this place is in a great location. Bars/restaurants across the road and close to the kings cross station. Fairly quiet patrons. The rooms are small but comfortable and clean. The room smell musty the entire time and the fan was filled with dust and looked like it had never been cleaned. Free wifi is advertised but no password given out and if you want fresh towels you need to ask for them... hotels you get that almost daily. We booked a room with an ensuite however when we arrived apparently that wasn't what we had booked and we were told we would have to use the shared bathroom facilities. I've camped around Europe, staying in campsites and sharing bathrooms and I have NEVER seen anything more disgusting in my life than highfields female bathrooms. They look like they've been cleaned once a week. Clumps of hair everywhere. Stained and dirty, I didn't want to touch anything. There is one basin and no power points yet you cannot blow dry your hair in your room?! I don't believe this 'hotel' would be up to standard if it were to be inspected.
