Stayed in a King sized room. Well not really, the bed was kingsized but room was miniscule. While this was bit disappointing, its not the worst thing. Critically, this place is Faulty Towers. There are no Fire Escape diagrams or instructions on how to get out in an emergency in rooms or in common areas. The place is a rabbit warren of stairs up 1 storey and then down stairs to level 2. How do they get away with that? In a fire there would be little hope of finding your way out in the strangely configured hallways filled with smoke. There was a promise of views! We got to stare through a tiny window at 3 brick walls and airconditioners. Couldnt even see the sky. The room was only serviced 2 out of 3 days there, had to reuse damp towels thecday they didnt service the room cause there is no room to dry them anywhere. The bathroom mirror must have been installed by a giant as I could only see the top of my hair , forget trying to put on makeup, you had to go outside of bathroom n stand in dull lit doorway to do this. Staff are fairly unwelcoming and unhelpful. We've experienced a whole lot better. On checking out we were asked to leave the office reception area seating ( 1 day post op) where we'd been sitting for 10 mins, to stand on the street to wait for our taxi, when they left to show someone a room. In room, theres no washcloth or anything to clean your cups or clean up spills, the bathroom grouting could really do with a good clean, somewhere to put your toiletries in the bathroom would be helpful. In summary, the onscreen ads promised high standards but it was delivered poorly and with little thought for real customer needs.
We stayed for 4 nights. Room is not big but is very comfortable, great bed and nice bathroom with good shower . Good coffee and tea supply . Our room was not facing the main road so we had a great sleep everynight. If you like to be left alone I would recommend this lodge close by to restaurants, beach , gyms ( anytimefitness and fine fitness).
I stayed in a room with a queen size bed. There is no way two people could share the room. Physically, one person would have to sit on the bed while the other moved around the room!!! Also, you have to watch the TV on the bed because there is no room to watch it from anywhere else...unless you want to sit in the tiny entry recess. There is literally a bed, one chair at a desk under the TV and a chair in the corner of the room on the same side as the TV (can't physically be moved as there is not enough room between the bed and wall. The ensuite has exposed plumbing...not just down drain from a sink, but actually the drainage stuff you see on building sites!! Black mould in the grout (would be easily removed with normal cleaning) and the rack with the towels on it was so high I had to jump to push one off to use it 😲.The room is totally over priced. Please DO NOT BE SWAYED BY THE PHOTOS 😁😁😁😁they a product of smoke and mirrors. I think, because the Lodge is close to the hospital, management preys on this...it is a total rip off.
So easy Great location Great room Short Uber ride to Maroubra, Coogee, Bondi and tons of fabulous restaurants. Second time we have stayed here and we stay again and again. Lodges are so much better than motel rooms😜
The Lodge is in a very good location for us - close to our family members, good restaurants and cafe's and on the public transport line. Reasonable rates for Sydney. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The accommodation has recently been renovated so everything was clean and fresh, however the rooms are very small for 2 people. The bathroom was a bit difficult to access however we managed. We would stay there again for a family occasion.
I recommend staying here if you need accommodation close by to the Prince of Wales Hospital. Advantages include very short walking distance, close walk to restaurants and cafes etc. The one big disadvantage is the amount of traffic noise. Plenty of buses that go past and because there is a traffic light at the front you will hear them come and go often. Made it very difficult to get a good nights sleep!
Beware - it is the organisations "policy" to take your ALL credit card details (written on paper) together with a photocopy of your drivers' licence...which is against "Credit Card Management Laws" in Australia. Security of the information is not guaranteed and staff were not sure how such records were managed. Staff were rude when asked about the policy.
Randwick is beautiful area with lots of public transport near by. The lodge is lovely, safe area even in the night as there is lots of foot traffic from the hospital across the road. We parked the car at Wilson parking at the Ritz Cinema complex, just up the road from the hotel where the main food and retail shops were. Can't recommend Isabella' Spot enough for being a good place to eat, within walking distance to the lodge. The noise of the main road outside the lodge was only a factor when we were on the balcony m, those doors are amazing to keep the outside noise out like they did! Really enjoyable stay, we'll be back again next time we come to Sydney.
I stayed at the lodge after receiving medical treatment nearby. The room was very basic but had everything I needed for my stay. It was clean and comfortable - more than what I expected for the price point.
I turned up at 10pm and had already cancelled and found somewhere else to stay by 11pm. I'm not sure which rooms they use to advertise there hotel on booking.com but it certainly wasn't the one we were put in. The room was small, dirty and dated. Instead of the large bay windows advertised, we had a tiny window in the corner of the room, half obstructed by a television and a wardrobe. The walls were so thin I could here the couple in the next rooms' conversation. The toilet seat fell off the first time we used it. The Wifi didn't work and the fridge in the corner constantly hummed. I had booked to stay for a week and had to pay for two days as a cancellation fee. I was happier to pay and find somewhere else than stay in this room. Had they displayed the pictures of the room we were actually going to stay in I certainly wouldn't have booked this hotel in the first place. The reception was closed by the time we got there which they had already warned us about, but we didn't want to spend the night in the room to discuss it with them in the morning. I managed to find somewhere else, so we left asap.
