The hotel stuff very friendly and helpful. Really enjoy our stay. Old style hotel - loved the elevator - back in the old days ;) Everything walking distance

This is an older hotel that has been remodeled. Everything was old and antique; elevator, all the fixtures, bathroom, etc. The room we stayed in was a little small but it had everything we needed. We were not in the room a lot other than sleeping and getting ready in the morning. If you don't mind old and you don't need tons of room, this was an affordable option. The location was great for vacationing. Close to mass transportation. 25 minute walk to Circular Quay and the Rock's areas. Right in the heart of shopping, food, parks, museums, Sydney Tower, etc.

This is not high end but it is a good value for your money. Our room was small, congested, clean and equipped with a good bed. Food service was there but, again, not high end. For downtown Sydney, this is a deal.

Very nice little boutique hotel within walking distance to many sights....also near hoho bus service....enjoyed our stay very much for two nights prior to boarding our cruise ship. Would definitely stay here again.

A very interesting experience. The hotel rooms are tiny -- I really had to walk sideways to get around the bed. But everything was clean and the service decent. The room price was half what you would pay for typical CBD hotels. The breakfast was fine, and also half what the big hotels charge.

Amazing room! Amazing location! Very clean and our room was much more spacious than other reviews described. The blankets are a bit rough and the walls are a bit thin but no other complaints! The staff were very courteous and helpful. Castlereagh Boutique Hotel is definitely a hidden gem in Sydney. Best value for cost!!

Stayed in this Hotel for 3 days! Perfect location! Rooms a bit small which was ok for us

What a great find, this lovely old hotel was located within easy walking distance to fine shopping, the town hall and other amenities. The staff was most accommodating. Sophie was a jewel of the first order. The renovated dining room had its own charm. I would recommend this lovely space to anyone interested in a step back in time. Grand boutique hotel. Beautiful cozy room with mini bar, flat screen TV. updated shower, a/c, really everything we needed. Ate breakfast in beautifully appointed dining room.. great value for the money. Location was perfect: taxis, buses, Starbucks, pie shop (meat pies, etc.) bars, nightlife, Dior, Chanel, all kinds of shopping, eating, exploring. Would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to everyone. Plus it is within walking distance of Opera House, Doyle's and Circular Quay.

I needed to overnight in Sydney, and I found this 4-star hotel for half the price of other 4-star hotels in the area. I probably shouldn't have been surprised that the room was the tiniest imaginable. In order to get past the bed and reach the tiny bathroom, I needed to walk sideways; I couldn't fit walking forward. But things were otherwise what you would expect regarding cleanliness and quality. There was an elegant old dining room, and a decent buffet breakfast was also half the price you would expect in a 4-star Sydney hotel. The hotel is, by the way, also the local Masonic lodge, so look for that on the awning, not the hotel name.

the hotel is old with not very broad space, and the bath room feels not very comfortable. but all the others are very good.

The staff were very nice and hospitable, letting us fill our water bottles every morning from the bar (helpful since water costs an armload and there are 3 fountains in the entire city). The room is small, with an uncomfortable bed and the scratchiest blanket ever. Shower leaked into the main room. Half the tv channels were snow. I remembered that internet was included but then the booklet said $10 a day but then the staff gave it to us for free, so who knows. Great location, a block away from Hyde Park and 15 min walk to the Opera House. If the hotel is just where you sleep and not a big focus of your vacation, I'd recommend. If you want to come back and relax and stay in a day or so, not for you.

Nice hotel but the room was rather small. Good location and clean with friendly staff.

STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL A VERY NICE OLDER HOTEL. I WOULD STAY THEIR AGAIN, WITH MY DAUGHTERS.

Loved the staff and the location. Room was small but clean, and breakfast was great. Little concerned about the peeling paint and black stuff on the ceiling in the lobby, but everyone was very friendly and professional! And so easy to walk to everything!!

The hotel is good but older not boutique, clean and next to subway!

Pleasant experience! Location was excellent -- very convenient to trains, buses and lots of shopping. Rooms were clean. Having a refrigerator a real benefit. Only negative was dim light bulbs. Need more lamps also.

This was the worst 4-star hotel I have ever stayed at anywhere. The public rooms were nicely redecorated, but our room was hot. with only 2 small windows that were "blind: and could not be opened. One wall was badlly in need of repainting. There was a hole where the bathroom door handle was torn out, the closed window in the bathroom was in a rusted frame. On the floor was a previous guest's car reservation. We couldn't wait to get out of there!

Dirty, noisy, hot. Impressive only in the public areas.

Quaint boutique hotel. My second stay. So close to everything. Great transportation. A few minutes walk from Hyde Park and Queen Victoria Building (QVB) and excellent shopping and even the Apple store and Woolworth's for groceries. Staff friendly and helpful especially re local transportation and tours. Early check - in was available to me on both my stays. Good breakfast buffet in hotel for hot and cold food $15 with prepaid vouchers bought at reception. Feeling of security in hotel as you must insert your room key in elevator panel in order to access your floor. Free washer and dryer on most floors for guest use.
