I stayed at the hotel for 6 days and had a good stay.The hotel is clean and tidy,the rooms are quite spacious,the breakfast buffet is great.One drawback is that the room I stayed in has no windows that you can open to get some fresh air.The public toilets have only one soup which is quite weird.But I guess it is the most convenient hotel to stay in while in Surabaya.

We're staying for 2 nights in this hotel and it is the most HORRIBLE stay as turn out, we're put in the room near a club that's located on the 2nd floor. IT is 1am in the morning and the sound of the music are gettin louder and noisier. We complained and the hotel offer an ear plugs and room exchange at 00.27am. We didnt take the offer because ITS in the middle of the night and we need to wake up at 6am to catch our flight. What makes me wonder, why the hotel didnt build a good soundproof wall if they know that they will be having loud music every night in that club? If they dont have a budget for that, then dont sell those rooms out to the guests. If this hotel were a 3* and lesser star hotel, i wont complain. But this supposed to be the most finest hotel in surabaya since 90's. So, if you are planning to have good sleep and rest at night, dont stay here as they will force you to stay awake and party with them.

I am an easy going person when it comes to hotels... however shangrila surabaya does not deserve to be top ( as mentioned by other reviewers) . I understand that the hotel is renovating and hot water is not available from 9 am . However in the evenings, it is available. The heater took so long that i felt that water was wasted by turning it on while waiting for hot water to come on! Mosquitos were plenty at the foyer outside the ballrooms. Terrible. All my co workers had to put on insect repellent. The day of the conference- aircon was too cold. Dont quite understand how this hotel is top in surabaya

If you wanna feel in a colonial hotel with luxury and style.. Thats Is! You have the best hotel in Surabaya in High Level. Not only the rooms are awesome, the food in the japanese restaurant are crazy yummy

This hotel was recommended to me by local business contacts and was excellent for the business traveller. The breakfast options could not be better. 7 restaurants to choose from in the evenings. The Italian was so good I went there twice! Recommend the signature risotto. The pool area is divine, exotic and the staff are attentive Huge room with floor to ceiling windows on 6th floor with rainfall shower ... and oh!!! Such a wonderful, comfortable bed! All the staff members were friendly and professional. If I want to find fault - the bathroom towels had very little life left in them and were not 5 star quality! but this will not detract from 5 star grade awarded.

Shangri-La Hotel is number 1 in Surabaya, highly recommended for leisure with family or business trip. Walking into Shangri-La Surabaya feels like coming home, The staff are courteous, friendly, professional, very polite and helpful. They truly are the heart and soul of this hotel, you genuinely and I do mean genuinely feel welcomed from the moment you step inside. The hotel is walking distance from ciputra world mall you can also go to other mall using different means of transportation like : blue bird taxi (safest one with air conditionning), Uber cars, Angotang kota (public old transportation: very cheap but sometimes crowdy and no air conditionning). Very secured too, where you can feel safe due to strict security measures and checks in the access gates, the hotel is the favorite destination of the previous president of indonesia and his political party where they celebrate their annual meetings in surabaya, this hotel often become the most choice of state officials to stay overnight there. Rooms are spacious and clean with a confortable and relaxing bed and complete from standard amenitis up prayer rugs. Large and well organized parking area, with different sectors dedicated to car, taxi, motorcycle, etc..

It was a pleasant surprise after my visit last year to see that Shangri La has taken feedback from customers and renovated the rooms. The service provided by staff (front desk, concierge) has been exceptional. One area of improvement though could be the extension of gym opening hours.

Hotel was comfortable, joyfull and valuable for business and family holidays. One of the Best hotel in Surabaya with strategic locations, easy to go to downtown, easy access to the airport and nice environment

One makes allowances for third world menageries but even the most forgiving person of earth wouldn't absolve this catastrophe of its myriad transgressions. It is an affront to the hospitality industry. First of all the renovations. For which read total reconstruction from top to bottom. Heavy construction equipment drilling and hammering from 9-5 every weekday. The stink of fresh paint in the corridors will help you lose your lunch. About one in ten staff members speak intelligible English and the food from the room service menu tastes like it came from a hospital cafeteria. Breakfasts are very good, tho. The one bright spot in your day, although they are clearly incapable of serving any beverage hot. Lukewarm tea, lukewarm hot chocolate. Charming. How can a Shangri la hotel risk it's brand in this way? Whatever good will that has evolved after previous stays in Shangri la hotels elsewhere in Hong Kong and Sydney has been destroyed by my completely negative experiences here in Surabaya. Management have evidently calculated that people will continue to shell out good money to stay in a 5 star that comes with its own internal war zone of sound effects preventing any rest whatsoever during daylight hours. Cynicism on stilts. The property should be ashamed to call itself a Shangri la and its manager should hang his German head in shame for presiding over such a shambles of a hotel and such blatant profiteering at a construction site with palm trees and a pool. Utterly appalling. Try a youth hostel. You'll save a bundle and actually get some sleep.

Great staff, great food and beverages, great place. The lounge is clean with responsive staff. The room is a bit old and little dust and smelly because this room soon will be renovate, we told already but prefer the high floor and old style bathroom because in deluxe new room dont have bathub anymore. Old style have bathub, soo we prefer bathub. Anyway place food and drink is great. Minus only limited pork bacon. For drink usually there is fresh fruit juice in breakfast, last time no fresh fruit juice. But overall great. Will go there again soon.
