The air conditioning didn't work that well and there were no glasses, plates or utensils in the kitchen. The room furniture was so worn, it looked like it was pulled out of a dump. Would not stay here again
The area seems safe and there is an excellent Italian restaurant next door

For the price of this hotel (not cheap), and the fact that it's a well establish chain, I was surprised that it was unkempt and fairly dirty. The hotel is a little older, which is fine, but the staff should take even more care to make sure it's clean- and this hotel was visibly dirty outside, in the lobby and in the room. Outside, there were cigarettes on the ground, the lobby was ok but could have been way cleaner. The room's floor was dirty, the wall was dirty, and the bathroom was not clean either. No excuse for that- doesn't take much to clean. There are no extras here either- coffee was free but terrible, no breakfast, no water. If it were clean, I would have been ok with this place. There's obviously not a lot of competition in this area, because they're not even trying.
I booked a comfortable suite for out of town guests. Apparently their suite was given to another guest and they were assigned a room too small for their needs. They had to leave and find suitable accommodations elsewhere. To add insult to my embarrassment over not being able to care properly for my guests. Candlewood reefed to refund the room that WAS NOT used by my guests. Candlewood will never do this to me again!!!!
Overall the hotel is nice. The room was small but clean. The carpet had a large wet spot (which we didn't realize until hours after we checked in). The room had a strong odor resulting from the wet carpet. The hotel needs some updates and looks like they have started replacing the carpet in the stairs/hallway.
