Great hotel with rooms fully renovated, the breakfast is abundant and friendly staff. Highly recommended also for its location, situated at a stone’s throw of Stuttgart’s main shopping area, a secured parking is also provided by the hotel. Everything was perfect in this family owned resort
This hotel is located in an excellent spot close to the main shopping street, walking distance from restaurant area Calwer Str and also an metro station. The main areas of the hotell feels quite old with outworn carpets and dark material. However, we had an comfort room with good size and it must have been refurbished resently, frech bathroom and parquet floors. (we understood that not all rooms have yet been renovated) Breakfast was with a wide variety of food and service overall friendly and quick.
Old, gloomy, smelly ... small rooms with strange smell, everything obsolete. How come this property is rated with 4* I have no clue. I know much better 2*.... Second star goes for location - very central and for breakfast - really good. I would not recommend and will not stay again.
I was here with friends and booked a single room. The rooms dont have an awful lot of light which does make them feel a little tired, HOWEVER, they are clean and functional and more than adequate. The hotel is a little diamond with its Art Deco style. The function room toilets, in the basement is a must to see with ist wonderful granite and marble. Dining at the Royal is also an experience. The waiting staff in crisp white shirts with black waist coats delivering first class service. The breakfast is a cold buffet which was delightful and ranging from fresh fruit, yogurt, smoked salmon, meets breads etc oh ! and dont let me forget about the organic jams. tables set with white linen and quality cutlery along with coffee brought to the table in silver coffee pots. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The reason why I gave 3 stars to this hotel is the position. Nothing else is valuable. Old moquette, a curious smell in the rooms and a bathroom coming straight out from the 80’. Actually there is another note: Arriving there I was asked to sign the classic papers but when I noticed that even the passport NUMBER was asked I was kind of astonished. I work and travel a lot and I have never been asked to compile it, I simply asked for infos but I received no proper answer. Apart from this, if you have to stay in town for a short period of time and you need a central position Hotel Royal is the hotel for you. Cheers
Choose this hotel for the location, which is great! So the good bits.......good bedroom, good bathroom, good shower, plenty of mirrors and sockets plus very clean! ..........The bad bits.......Arrived at Reception 2 young Receptionists were fronting the desk but ignored us! I had to say hello and asked if we could check in! No welcome greeting, no smile nothing! They gave us our key told us where the room was and that was it! So very rude! They remained like this for the 2 day stay! The young male Receptionist was ok. Hotel states the bed is a double, its not, it really is just slightly bigger than a single, for a businessman it would be good but not for a couple. For me personally the bed was very hard which resulted in me not sleeping for 2 nights, it was a nightmare! Bad Breakfast! Croissants were tiny and not fresh, on the second day they had run out at 8.30pm! No toaster! Not a great selection of food! Waitress who greeted us did not smile, she told us we could have unlimited coffee served at our table and tea was make your own, then directed us to the breakfast station. A group of businessmen sat on the table next to us, she smiled at them, offered them a choice of coffee (which she didn't do with us) from latte,Cappuccino, Espresso etc then explained that they could have fried or scrambled eggs made for them! So to conclude I think this Hotel will suit businessmen but I would not recommend for couples! After this we went to Strasbourg, the Hotel had young staff who were fantastic and so friendly!
Certainly the most unfriendly and most miserable hotel staff in the world. Not so much as smile from the reception girls. The breakfast was limited and poor. The hotel bed very uncomfortable and the smallest double bed we've seen! However it is in a great location (the reason for choosing this) but what we know now we just wouldn't ever go there again.
The Royal is located on the edge of old town Stuttgart, a few minutes walk from S- and U-bahn lines, and a few minutes more walk to the cobblestone streets of restaurants and stores in the center. So it is well-located. The hotel itself is clean and cared-for, though some of the installations are a tad dated. And if you like a hard mattress, you'll love your sleep at the Royal. Our room was on the front of the hotel, which faces a rather busy thoroughfare at night -- the bars next door and the foot traffic to the bars in the pedestrian promenades nearby created a fair amount of noise, especially with the windows cracked (the AC unit in the room was quite a weak performer). So if you book a room, you might want to request one on the back side of the hotel. Other than that, the only other disappointment was a shower that featured rather comically-weak water pressure, and a separate shower hose in the bath that simply didn't work. The hotel features a breakfast, paid for separately. There is a good bakery just down the block, but it is closed on Sundays.
The hotel decor seems to be in a 1970s time warp. Don't let that put you off. The hotel staff in all departments were very friendly and went out of their way to help. I stayed for three nights to visit the car museums. The hotel is near the top end of Konig Street (the main pedestrian shopping street in Stuttgart). The hotel restaurant does a good breakfast, and great dinner. I recommend the pepper steak. Parking is a bit limited, but there's a parking garage across the street if no room at the hotel. I received excellent service and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
If this is supposed to one a four stars hotel, I'm a little bit surprised and perhaps disappointed. I was placed in the annex of the hotel on the other side of the road, so I didn't see the rooms in the main building. My room was clean and large. Furnitures (see picture) were old fashioned and the bed was not impressively confortable. The main problem was the noise outside coming from the pub that closes at 3 in the morning. Thin windows make it difficult to sleep if you want to have it quiet. You should ask for the inner side of the hotel. Breakfast Ok, but that's about it. Nice staffers.
