The hotel is not the very modern hotel you could think of, but - The room is wide, with very good bed, and very nice bathroom, with 2 sinks!!! we thought it is the location, in the heat of the city, with parking, was the best choice. Breakfast was wonderful

Now this was a good surprise! Mid-range and better hotels in Stuttgart are very expensive, so I decided to get the best rated one at my maximum price point, which turned out to be Hotel Royal that day: a choice by default more than anything else. The hotel is within walking distance from the station, 15 to 20 minutes with luggage. Whilst the reception area is small and feels a bit cramped, the receptionists are kind, quick and efficient. I had a single room on floor 4 …. This is soooo 1970’s!! and authentically 1970’s as well, as I recognized the plumbing fixtures from childhood. They don’t make them anymore, so where do they get the spare parts??? That being said, the relatively small size, dark wood paneling and very poor ventilation make for a stuffy room. After taking a shower, humidity goes into the bedroom and that is definitely unpleasant. The noise level is acceptable, even with an open window. I went to the restaurant downstairs; it has a good reputation with the locals and here again, the decoration is straight from 40 years ago. Most patrons are even much older than that. Service is excellent, young, very well-trained professionals who are friendly without being pushy or out of place. My food was excellent (veal’s heart in wine sauce) and the wine list has a decent selection with a good price/quality ratio. The optional buffet breakfast is fine: lots of choice, good quality, good service, but the egg selection is limited (hard-boiled only). In summary, this is a family-owned and -operated independent hotel that doesn’t have all the frills and the gimmicks of hotel chains and is in need of a makeover, but it is run very professionally and the staff made me feel welcome and valued as a guest. Just improve the room ventilation. Seriously.

We stayed over night in this hotel. There are two buildings of this hotel which are across to each other in sophienstrasse. The one I stayed was the old building with reception and restaurant. The room was old fashion but pretty clean. The hotel location is quite good as it is easy to reach konigsstrasse attractions.

Generally the hotel was fine. Older reviews suggest it has been refurbished in recent times which if it is the case then I'm not sure I'd have quite gone for the retro look myself as it does to some extent make it look more dated than it probably is. The location is good and room was spacious. But no frills, just a few toiletries and a small bottle of water. No fridge, safe, trouser press etc I don't think this is untypical of german hotels but having stayed at hotels in Cologne (Residence am Dom), Koblenz (Ibis City) and Mainz (Konigshof) as part of our trip there wasn't anything about the Hotel Royal that made it worth an extra €20-€30 per night.

Nice friendly welcome received. Location is at the top of the main drag, Koenigstrasse. So that is convenient for a short stay in the city. My actual room was across the street in a separate building. Which felt more like I was staying in an apartment. The room itself was a single room. A bit dated fittings, but it was satisfactory for the price. Overall, this was a fine hotel for 1 night. It was basic, but fine. I would not recommend this place for a longer stay than a night or two. The building I was in, backed onto a bar or hotel. So there was a little noise at night.

We just returned from a super Weekend at the Royal Hotel in Stuttgart. The Hotel has an excellent location in the heart of the city and is very convenient for shopping and visits. The room was very comfortable with all the amenities needed. A highlight was the restaurant experience. Fantastic asparagus with Wienerschnitzel ! Great value for money. We will return to the hotel Royal in Stuttgart sooner than later.

I had to "last-minute" book a hotel in Stuttgart for myself and my business partner. The last few times I had big problems finding affordable hotel rooms in Stuttgart, because all is always booked out. I travel and sleep in hotels for more than 200 days/nights per year and I have seen a lot, all over the world. When booking through HRS, this was the only hotel in the city, at a price that would let me sleep without having regrets. Unfortunately the reviews on HRS were not really "thumps-up" - therefore I had my expectations set for a "medium" experience and I had no choice anyway. BUT I must say, I was completely surprised. This hotel will be my favorite in Stuttgart from now on. Beginning with the charming staff, very helpful, super friendly - the rooms have a very significant style, each with an own aura. Very clean, the beds - perfect and to finish it of, a breakfast, that want´s you to stay all morning. The location, in the middle of the city, bars and restaurants all around the hotel, parking in the garage - I can only summarize - PERFECT! (I should not write this, because the next time I want to come here, the hotel will be fully booked...)

Having stayed at several downtown hotels like Pullman, Ibis and Arcotel, the Royal is now my favorite. The location is superb, the rooms and bathrooms spotless and the bedding extremely comfortable. The hotel has tremendous charm. The best surprise was their dining. Great breakfast and one of the best dinners I've ever had in a hotel restaurant which has a very laid back and comfortable ambience. Old world charm at unbeatable pricing.

Do not expect a regular business hotel, this is a quite unusual experience. The staff cannot be more friendly, helpful and polite and the location is right on the center at walking distance to all main places in town and just 10 min by car from the central railway station. The decoration is a very nice trip back to the 80's and I am not being sarcastic at all. Common areas are beautiful, elegant, very well maintained and decorated with a 80's retro like taste. I found the restaurant and lobby facilities just beautiful. If you are picky you will find the decoration of the spacious rooms dated, I found it again retro. Ok the green corridors of 1st floor might not be the most beautiful thing but it makes sense within the experience of this hotel. I have stayed at #117. The room is massive! And that plasma screen!? Huge! I will definitely stay at the ROYAL again if I need to be back to Stuttgart and I recommend if you are open to something unconventional and not pretentious. ENJOY travels!

This hotel is perfect for a visit to Stuttgart: the location is great, very central. The ground floor rooms are in a wonderfully preserved late 70s-early 80s style, I hope the managers of the hotel appreciate the beauty and rarity of what they have. I was staying in a newly-refurbished room with new bathroom and furniture. Very elegant and comfortable. Also very clean. I did not have a chance to try breakfast as I had to leave early, but I will definitely be back! I hope the owners mean to maintain the stylish ground floor rooms, they give character and uniqueness to the whole experience. I would just like to add that everybody was very friendly and helpful. Thank you!
