Quality hotel with kind, professional staff in a central, walkable location. Our upgraded room was updated, comfortable, clean, sizable with a small sitting area, and totally quiet despite the location overlooking the street. Great shower and nice bath products. Lots of choices for breakfast. We were very pleased with our stay and would choose this hotel again.
You can't fault the location of this hotel. A few minutes walk from a tram stop, and next to Place Gutenburg and seconds from the cathedral. This (inside at least) is a very contemporary hotel. Rooms aren't huge but more than adequate. Decent facilities, such as nespresso machine. Good shower. We had a couple of minor issues with the coffee machine, and TV and the receptionist was up instantly and sorted it out. Very friendly staff. This is not a hotel that commands good room views. We didn't bother with breakfast here.
Wonderful location, friendly welcoming staff, this hotel had great decor, lots of lovely small touches. Highy recommend. It is located in the heart of the old city and you can stroll to dine out, look at the canals.
Pros: Hotel location is unbeatable! The staff is incredibly friendly. Rooms are very clean. Cons: Room was very small and I'm used to European hotels. The room I was in (110) should have been used for a twin/single bed instead of a double bed. The room was also only accessible by going up several stairs after exiting the elevator, which was not that convenient with a big heavy suitcase and no bellhop. Overall, I was pleased enough with the hotel that I would definitely stay here again if I travel back through Strasbourg.
This small hotel right in the centre of the old city of Strasbourg was very impressive. We had had some small issues with the French train service & the staff were so helpful for us. The staff were always courteous & knowledgeable about things to see & do in Strasbourg. Our room was clean & spacious & there was an excellent breakfast. The position right in the heart of the old city just couldn’t be beaten. All in all a highly recommended hotel
We really enjoyed our stay - very nice room with an awesome view. Everything we wanted to see was in a short walking distance from hotel. Staff was super friendly and fluent in English. Parking was a 10 minute walk but plenty to see along the way. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
I loved the pro-Nespresso machine in the room with two capsules per night. The room is clear, staff is nice, location is perfect. There is free water and orange juice in the lobby at all times with small candies and also apples. They have free upgraded our room without any charge. There is nothing me and my wife don't like about the hotel actually. If you are traveling with your car, use Gutenberg Park Place. Just 30 seconds away from the hotel. Parking fee per night is around 34 Euros.
Immaculate room. All comforts addressed: crisp linens, perfect bed, reading lamps, in-room coffee (more pods provided when requested), mini fridge, spacious modern bathroom, bathrobes, slippers. This was the only hotel in our 10-day trip that provided toiletries (the others provided wall-mounted body wash only); these included lotion and shampoo as well as body wash, plus nail file, q-tips. Perhaps because we stayed in mid-Sept, mid-week when perhaps the hotel was not full, we were upgraded from the basic room that we had initially reserved; this fact alone left me pleased and feeling "special." (We had an already-good room rate, having reserved in January for our September stay.) Our room opened to a quiet alley, and two full sets of windows in each wall opening kept things nice and quiet when the windows were closed. It was additionally lovely to have baggage-check services before and after check-in; to have juice, water, and candy on the counter throughout the day; to have a selection of daily French- and English-language papers available each day; to have a large curving staircase (unusual for smaller hotels) available as well as the elevator; and to have such pleasant receptionists who recognized us. Note that this is not a "charming" hotel filled with flowers and old-style France. It is efficient, modern, crisp, and "correct"--a city hotel.
Hotel Gutenberg was a fantastic option for a quick stay in Strasbourg. Our room was very clean and spacious. We were shocked to find air conditioning (huge plus since it was very hot while we were there). They have a small elevator which is great if you're staying on a higher floor. We did not have their breakfast but it did look lovely. Also, the staff were so kind and helpful. One thing to note if you're driving in: we had a little difficulty when we first arrived. They have two designated spots in front of the hotel for unloading but both were taken when we arrived. My husband pulled over onto a wide section of sidewalk (because we had no other choice) while I went to check-in and find out where to park. Once we checked-in, all went well, but initially, it was a little stressful especially not knowing the local rules on parking/unloading and not really knowing the city yet. My husband parked in P5 which was a short walk back to the hotel. I took our bags in when I went to check-in so he wouldn't have to lug them back. I would suggest not moving the car until you're ready to leave because the discount voucher the hotel gives you only works if you stay in the lot 24 hours or more. My only wish is that there was a little more explanation on what to do when arriving by car, but in hindsight, we probably should have reached out to the hotel ahead of time (although, we didn't know we would have any issues). That was a very minor issue and does not in any way deter me from recommending this hotel. It is a wonderful choice for any type of visit to Strasbourg and I hope we can return one day!
Loved the location; 4 minutes to the cathedral and 10 minutes to the Petite area. The breakfast is very good, offering eggs as well as patties, breads and cheeses. The staff was terrific. Will stay again when I’m Strasbourg.
