Getting our car to the hotel was a bit of a challenge as the road it is on has partial closures at certain times of the day. We ended up parking outside of the street and walking to the hotel to check in. Having forgotten to declare our 6 year old we were given a complimentary upgrade as the concierge was unhappy abut him sharing our bed which was very nice. Once we worked out how to get to the hotel carpark there was a comedy of errors with reception failing to open the garage door after assuring me that they would see me pulling up, me letting them know i was there and then having the door open and close before i could get back to the car and so on...... The car spaces are more suited to scooters than cars but I managed to squeeze our Peugeot into one. The room itself was a little tired but adequate and the hotel is very conveniently located for sight seeing. Not a bad choice for one night.
The Citadines Strasbourg Kleber is a fantastic location for a short, medium or long-term stay! The location is fantastic and is close to all amenities - public transport, shopping and also within walking distance to the main train station.
The cost/value ratio was very good. Citadines is an easy level walk from the railway station, right in the middle of excellent shops, bars etc. Our apartment was a studio and it was very compact but with ample storage space. It was easy to prepare simple meals in the galley kitchen. The hotel itself is getting a bit old and tired in parts, and I agree with another reviewer who said a deep cleaning (carpets, skirting boards etc) wouldn't go amiss. Having said that, the bathroom, kitchen and bed linen were all very clean. Comfortable and mainly quiet - our room looked down on a small courtyard. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. We didn't have a washing machine but for a few euro there is a self service laundry room. And little things like a shopping buggy and laundry basket are provided which are very helpful touches. You can also help yourself to coffee or tea each afternoon in the lounge.
I loved the Citadines property because of the comfortable apartment. Even though the rooms were basic and it wasn't luxurious, the place was value for money. The breakfast spread was great with coffee and tea all day and the kitchen was well equipped. The location was the best part as everything was a short walk away and very accessible. There are many nice places to eat and shop in the vicinity. Highly recommend the property as it's economical and comfortable. It's great especially for families as there is a living room, kitchen and ample space.
We stayed for 4 nights in mid October in a third floor room with small kitchen with hot plate, microwave, dishwasher and good sized fridge. In the bathroom there was a washer drier. The hotel provided underground parking which despite driving a fairly large car was very convenient. However getting to the hotel by car requires you to go through a no entry sign which states on a small sign underneath except for authorised and then a bit of a circuitous route to get to the parking. The hotel reception does give you some help with this, but be prepared for a good 20 minutes extra to find out how to get in. However car parked up and we enjoyed the many delights that Strasbourg had to offer. Fantastic visit.
Remember to bring the credit card you booked with, to avoid difficulties in checking in - we were told it's a legal requirement to show it as part of checking who you are, even if you have already paid and bring confirmation of that!
Staff was able to help with questions- good English as well. Room was clean and housekeeping was friendly and efficient. Location is good, quiet but convenient. Train station is close to the hotel. Highly recommend Good value for the cost.
The apartment was very clean and we particularly liked the kitchen. You could easily use it to cook meals. The apartment is in a great location. You can easily walk to the cathedral and petite France which are the main tourist areas.
Easy walk from station and to all sights in the city. Lovely staff who couldn't be more helpful. Spacious quiet room with nice aspect over the courtyard, and a window you could open fully for fresh air. Well equipped kitchenette and good wifi.
We stayed for a week at the beginning of August. It was really hot (30 +) and the hotel doesn't have air conditioning. Knowing this we requested a fan and it was in our room when we arrived, which was great. The hotel is in a good location - a tram stop at the end of the road and the cathedral is about 5 mins away. There are plenty of bars and restaurants around, and an epicerie over the road which seemed to be open until about 8.30/9 pm every day, even Sunday. He sells a variety of basics including baguettes and milk. Next door is a pizza place that does a good pizza. The room we stayed in was a studio with a separate bathroom, galley kitchen and toilet. It was a good size for the two of us, plenty of storage. The kitchen amenities seemed fine, although we were attending a conference with evening meals so didn't really cook in it. They even provided a few teabags and coffee, but we took our own anyway. The bed was comfy, and the room was quiet, although it's a fairly big complex so that might be different for other rooms. The only negatives are that the wifi didn't work all of the time, but they know that and are working on it. The other negative is that although the room was mostly clean, the floors and woodwork could do with a really good deep clean with hot water and detergent. The decor is a little tired, but that wasnt a problem for us. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room but if you were going to be in the room for a good part of the evening, perhaps a suite with a lounge would be better. They offer a variety of sizes depending on what you want. The staff are really friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
