We picked this hotel because a family member had stayed here on a school trip and the price was good. The rooms are little apartments so would be good for a longer stay (we only stayed one night). Rooms were clean. The location was near restaurants and shops. It is close to train station and cathedral (few blocks). We like to walk so walked to Petit France, too. Breakfast was offered for additional charge, but we ate elsewhere.
We have stayed in many Citadines properties in Europe and this one is not up to standard. If you are thinking of staying, first check that there actually is a room available and that you will not be shunted off to another property nearby. We chose a deluxe studio and it was far from deluxe. Extremely small and it was hot and no air con and the only window was actually an inward opening glass door which hit the bed when you tried to open it! We were extremely disappointed with both the room and the service. Perhaps when the renovations are complete it will be better. To say it needs upgrading is an understatement.
Hotel was under renovation and had drop sheets down all over so smelt and looked unattractive. Rooms were well equipped but had no cooling and too noisy to leave windows open and rooms very stuffy and made it hard to sleep. No proper directions to access hotel from driving in as they have security bollards which was very stressful has to call the hotel several times before we worked out GPS instructions brings you in the wrong way you need to use google maps. Something which would have been nice to have known. No discount was offered fir the hotel looking a mess. Disappointing stay in one of my favourites cities.
We've stayed here in the past and enjoyed it but this time around they're renovating and the noise level is unbearable. They should have closed the whole hotel but instead are renting rooms in horrible conditions. When I complained about the loud drilling noise at 9:30am, they admitted that work isn't supposed to start until 10 but did nothing about it but offer me breakfast which didn't really do it. Unfortunately, we'll not be back.
Very well situated in the centre of Strasbourg, very close to tram station, Kleber place. Very adequate prices. Large room, quiet and with good bed. Free WiFi connection. Little kitchen. On the minus side, the private bedroom not directly linked to the bedroom, you must cross the living room, slightly inconvenient. Bathroom is small but sufficient. Another easy to fix issue: there was trust around the trash basket on the floor, that could have been washed or fixed.
Getting our car to the hotel was a bit of a challenge as the road it is on has partial closures at certain times of the day. We ended up parking outside of the street and walking to the hotel to check in. Having forgotten to declare our 6 year old we were given a complimentary upgrade as the concierge was unhappy abut him sharing our bed which was very nice. Once we worked out how to get to the hotel carpark there was a comedy of errors with reception failing to open the garage door after assuring me that they would see me pulling up, me letting them know i was there and then having the door open and close before i could get back to the car and so on...... The car spaces are more suited to scooters than cars but I managed to squeeze our Peugeot into one. The room itself was a little tired but adequate and the hotel is very conveniently located for sight seeing. Not a bad choice for one night.
The Citadines Strasbourg Kleber is a fantastic location for a short, medium or long-term stay! The location is fantastic and is close to all amenities - public transport, shopping and also within walking distance to the main train station.
The cost/value ratio was very good. Citadines is an easy level walk from the railway station, right in the middle of excellent shops, bars etc. Our apartment was a studio and it was very compact but with ample storage space. It was easy to prepare simple meals in the galley kitchen. The hotel itself is getting a bit old and tired in parts, and I agree with another reviewer who said a deep cleaning (carpets, skirting boards etc) wouldn't go amiss. Having said that, the bathroom, kitchen and bed linen were all very clean. Comfortable and mainly quiet - our room looked down on a small courtyard. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. We didn't have a washing machine but for a few euro there is a self service laundry room. And little things like a shopping buggy and laundry basket are provided which are very helpful touches. You can also help yourself to coffee or tea each afternoon in the lounge.
I loved the Citadines property because of the comfortable apartment. Even though the rooms were basic and it wasn't luxurious, the place was value for money. The breakfast spread was great with coffee and tea all day and the kitchen was well equipped. The location was the best part as everything was a short walk away and very accessible. There are many nice places to eat and shop in the vicinity. Highly recommend the property as it's economical and comfortable. It's great especially for families as there is a living room, kitchen and ample space.
We stayed for 4 nights in mid October in a third floor room with small kitchen with hot plate, microwave, dishwasher and good sized fridge. In the bathroom there was a washer drier. The hotel provided underground parking which despite driving a fairly large car was very convenient. However getting to the hotel by car requires you to go through a no entry sign which states on a small sign underneath except for authorised and then a bit of a circuitous route to get to the parking. The hotel reception does give you some help with this, but be prepared for a good 20 minutes extra to find out how to get in. However car parked up and we enjoyed the many delights that Strasbourg had to offer. Fantastic visit.
