Close to everything. Great staff, amazing food. Highly recommended.
I stayed in Stockholm for only two days and this hotel was just perfect for it. The rooms are very small but it's ideal for 1-2 travelers. it didn't bother me too much because I only needed a place to sleep. The breakfast buffet was also a nice addition to the package where most hotels in Europe charge a minimum of 10-15 euro. Wifi works great which is also a bonus. The location of the hotel is only 5 min walk from Gamla Stan, where there's plenty of shopping and restaurants.
beautiful hotel, the train exactly stop in the corner, perfect area close to the Ocean
We decided to get a room at Malardrottningen for one night and decide last minute where to stay the second night. We were so pleased with the overall experience that we decided to stay another night. Hopefully my girlfriend and I will be back in Stockholm soon and we will definitely consider staying here as our first option.
great hotel and great location. the room was nice and has bath/shower/TV/phone. Also a common sauna. Good breakfast, restaurant and bar. Walking distance to shops and attractions. Great value.
Staying on the Malardrottningen was a unique experience, but not to be repeated by us. While in a very good location, close to Mamla Stan, the room was extremely small, the bathroom was minuscule, the upper bunk bed was barely accessible, and as a result the overall comfort level was poor. Yes, the ship in nearly 100 years old but even so, the ship and woodwork are tired looking. The breakfast was very good but the overall value can be improved elsewhere.
Great location. We like to walk the cities we visit. It's a 5 - 10 minute walk to Gamla Stan (Old Town) where the Royal Palace, the Cathedral and the Nobel Museum are located, and about 35 minutes to the Vasa Museum which is also near the Nordic Museum and the Abba Museum on Djurgarden. There's a subway stop in Gamla Stan that can take you to locations further away. Be aware that if you like a spacious room, this isn't the hotel for you. We are small people and with luggage, it was very tight. You need to be agile enough to use a bunk bed. There's an area near the Front Desk you can store un-needed bags, but it isn't secured. There was a nice hot and cold breakfast buffet included. Staff was always helpful and provided us with a map and recommendations for a walking tour. They also set up taxis for the airport transfers. Wifi worked well. We travelled in January when several attractions are closed. Summer offers more activities for the tourist.
The selling points for this boat-hotel are location and price - provides clean, comfortable, central accommodation at a very good price. Rooms are very small, which is as advertised and expected, but functional and clean with newer-looking appliances and bathrooms (which I later found is not the norm in Scandinavia). Breakfast is excellent, wi-fi works, staff is helpful, common areas are nice.
The best attribute of this hotel is the location. It's just a 5 minute walk to the Old City(Gamla Stan) and therefore very close to some of the historic sites in Stockholm. The hotel is only one stop away from T-Centralen and the walk from the subway stop to the hotel is very short. The views from the hotel are beautiful. The room itself was utilitarian, but the plan was to see the city not the room. There was a small but functional bathroom, a desk, a closet, a small TV and a port window. There were several spiders and webs around the port window, but that was probably the only cleanliness issue and it wasn't enough of a problem for me to discuss it with the staff. The staff was generally friendly. The breakfast buffet was average quality. There was a good selection of breads and cereals but only a few protein options. After 3 or 4 breakfasts on the boat I began waiting to eat breakfast until I was out walking around. It was definitely worth the money, especially because Stockholm is a very expensive city.
There is a special atmosphere on this historic boat, but the cabins are on the small side (is listed correct, though). Also, can be a bit noisy. Good breakfast buffet, and the location is splendid, with just a few minutes walk to the central train station and shopping area, and right next to Gamla Stan.
The Meladrottingen is well situated in downtown Stockholm. The room was spacious and very, very cool--we won't soon forget our stay. The hotel staff with whom we've spoken have assured us that the mistake will be fixed. It's only been a few days, ad we're hoping that the mistake will be fixed soon too. The restaurant served delicious dinner and lavish breakfast. Overall, a delightful stay in an ideal location. I hope they get their logistical quirks under control.
