The room was clean & the TV and cable were adequate. Overall though the bed was old the mattress springs were poking out of the side of the mattress and the blanket in closet was in tatters. The air conditioning was noisy when it cycled, the water pressure in the shower was dismal you felt like it took several rinses to get soap out of your hair. At the Cascade restaurant there most prestigious of the eateries on premise we stood for over 5 minutes waiting for the hostess took a future reservation and entered it in the computer again we were the only ones in line and it was certainly not busy at the lunch hour. The waiter likewise was not very solicitous and again there was hardly any patrons in the Restaurant at the time. Let me also say we booked through Expedia there was no mention that our booking would not include resort fees and parking fees of $15 per night something that Skamania just added to there charges as of June 2025. Also resort fee was $18.75 per night also extra on top of Expedia charges. We ordered room service something you weren’t allowed to order the night before. Food arrived in all to go utensils such as paper cup for the oatmeal and paper cups for coffee and no salt n pepper or ketchups for eggs. Overall a very average stay and that’s not a very high compliment for such an old established prestigious and pricey property. Personnel were nice but overall very average

Appreciated the setting overlooking the Columbia river. Grounds have some nice features like outdoor gas fireplaces and fire pits. Indoor main lobby with fireplace is surprisingly small for a centerpiece though. Rooms are spacious enough, but come with some quirks. Upstairs rooms are intolerably hot in the winter, apparently only due to heat rising from rooms below. Beware if you use an in-room fireplace since relieving the heat produced can only be done by opening the window to the frigid outdoors. Even with the thermostat off and air handler shut off the blower wouldn’t stop unless the gfci plug was tripped. Shower drain was plugged. Bed wasn’t that comfortable. Other quirks of the hotel include staff taking away courtesy items like hot chocolate at 2 pm (who does that?) - I mean the whole drink table in the lobby is cleared?! Was also surprised with a $16.20 nightly parking fee not disclosed on reservation (particularly since parking is abundant in the winter) and was charged more than thr $15/nt that was stated to another guest checking in at the same time. Overall OK for a place to stay a couple of days while exploring the Columbia Gorge area, but wouldn’t stay here again, and certainly not at the prices I’ve seen for summer stays. Overpriced for what it is. For the same or less I can have a mediocre lodge stay in a National Park with a better setting.

Not as advertised. Rooms are NOT sound proof, coffee was terrible, carpets are thread bare on stairs and landings. Views were incredible, but many windows had failed glass that hampered the view. Reservation system for the restaurants was managed poorly by what appeared to be teenagers until the night of NYE. Even then we were seated 30 minutes late. Pool area was filled with running, yelling kids making it unusable with no adult hours. Food was overpriced and poorly cooked - even the breakfast buffet had cold scrambled eggs and mushy berries. Saving grace was a very comfortable bed and the spa services were AMAZING!

Always a great time! However, this was the first time that we could not use the outdoor hot tub as it was full of people with children; it was 8:30 pm- children are not supposed to be in there past 6 pm. Don’t get me wrong, we have children and we choose to have a break from children when we go to the lodge.
