I had a 2 night reservation at this place. I canceled the day before, following the one-day cancellation policy. The hotel still charged my credit card (for both nights!!). I asked the travel agency to correct this. The hotel chain won't even answer the calls. Stay away from this place. Don't give them your credit card.
I wanted so badly to like this place. Despite the low ratings, I had hoped that they were inaccurate. Unfortunately, it was actually worse. My experience started well. The gentleman who checked us in was pleasant and helpful. But, beyond that, the room was just plain awful. It was a typical motel room, and it was clean. I even appreciated the mini-fridge, microwave oven, and coffee maker. I liked the small dresser, the four small tables, and the TV with HDMI. Very convenient. But, the bed was so uncomfortable that I hurt my back. The clips on the clothes hangers did not work. There were exposed electrical wires. The toilet paper was the lowest quality that I had ever experienced. The Wi-Fi was horrific. I had brought my PS4 to have some fun, but the poor Wi-Fi signal prevented that. The building could use some care, which is an understatement.
This motel unfortunately, is the only one in Stevenson, but I suggest either turn around and go back to N Bonnerville or carry on through. Stevenson itself is a nice little settlement and the food and service at the Big River Grill was good. Coffee at the Bigfoot Coffee Roasters was excellent. However, the motel was dirty, there were some dubious smears on the walls and on the bathroom door. There were squashed bugs on the bathroom floor tiles and the carpet was stained and ripped. Generally the place was grubby and unclean. The people upstairs were noisy throughout the night and the plumbing was noisy too. When I took the key back the following morning there was no one having the free breakfast, surprise, surprise and the receptionist was still in her pyjamas!! On top of all this was the extortionate price for one night...$99. Don't stay here. The worst motel in the eight and a half weeks we have been touring the state's.
We checked in July 6 and the TV did not work. Brought a second TV that did not work. Third tv was a 14" so small that you could not see from 6 feet away. Came back to the room Saturday night and no maid service and TV was not switched out as promised. Called front desk and they brought clean towels and no maid service. Asked about our replacement TV and they said they would check on it and never heard back. Bed was hard. Poor patch job on walls in bathroom. Bathroom fan squeaked when light was on and no way to turn fan off. We travel quite a bit and this is by far the worst room we have ever stayed in. We enjoy Stevenson Washington, but we will never stay in this hotel ever again. We will plan our trips to the area to plan on staying in a local town. Hotel staff was very unfriendly.. Broken down cars in parking lot of hotel, on Jack stands. I would struggle to give this hotel a one star. Makes Motel 6 look like a 5 star compared to this hotel.
This place is the only motel I have refused to stay in. It's disgusting! The room smelled like urine, there was a weird stain on the old bed spread, and the door had to be slammed to get it to close. The door handle was also falling off. I walked out immediately after making a reservation at the Columbia Gorge Inn in Cascade Locks, just across the river. I'd stay there if I was you. The manager said the smell was paint, but I disagree. He refused to give me a refund and had already charged my card. He offered me another room, but this was AFTER he told me that this was the best room they had. Ridiculous. There are families living in this sh1t hole! The kids were riding their bikes and talking about someone who was shot. I repeat. DO NOT STAY HERE!
One stop on a 3 week road trip. Very uncomfortable mattresses. Damage to shower enclosure that should have been repaired. Laundry facility out of order. Went back into office to see if there was wifi, nobody responded to bell call. Not enough towels in room, considering we had a reservation for 3 adults. Would recommend crossing the Columbia and get a hotel on the Oregon side.
Much of this Rodeway Inn was tired-looking, even shabby. We were glad we got the king suite. It was huge with a whole separate living room (large couch, love seat, and arm chair, TV). To the side was an alcove filled with a new-looking jacuzzi--there was a skylight above it, so it almost seemed to glow. This was a bit odd, given that the rest of the suite was quite drab. The bedroom window overlooked a small, babbling stream--a pleasant sound to hear while lying in bed. The strangest thing about this suite was that there was no closet!! We were guessing that the closet might have been removed to make room for the jacuzzi. Just inside the door there was a rod with some hangers, but there was a large fake plant under it, so you could only hang short things! "Continental breakfast" was supposed to start at 6:30. We went to the lobby at 7:30. A lady came running in in her robe to tell us that the milk in the little fridge was "off" and she took it away. With nothing to replace it, there was nothing to put in the coffee or on cereal. There was also no juice in the juice dispenser. At least the blueberry bagels were fresh. This Rodeway Inn needs some TLC.
GROSS!!! Do not waste your $. The toilet was not clean, the phone was sticky, the walls and carpet were filthy. We paid cash and they would not refund our $83 when we asked for a it 5 minutes after paying. I would sleep in the dirt before I ever stayed here.
Great location with views of the gorge. Small, cozy town filled with hospitality! The hosts are amazing and did everything above and beyond for our stay. Large, clean room with a wonderful stream behind building, which at night was a wonderful way to fall asleep! Breakfast and snack items in the morning was a huge plus. Quick and easy! I even had fresh fruit for that days nature hike! Will definitely be back again! Thank you so much for our much needed getaway!
This place doesn't deserve as many bad reviews as its had...go with the king suite for $20-30 more a night and you'll be very happy. Can't complain for a 2-star hotel sitting right up on the Columbia Gorge!
