Looking for a hotel in close proximity to the Springfield airport, The Mansion View In and Suites met the criteria at 3.5 miles for the airport. Being no stranger to the city of Springfield, we were comfortable with the downtown location of this hotel. The appearance of the building and the fact that it was directly across the street from the Governor's Mansion ( across from the rear of the mansion should have been recognized as an omen) signaled that the facility was well selected. The lobby was well appointed and appeared to communicate the essence of a better-than-average hotel. When the front desk clerk appeared (after a longer than reasonable delay), it was concerning that he was very casually dressed - I mistook him for a maintenance/repair man. Once registered, we proceeded to our room, whose association to the main lobby was solely the fact that they were located in the same structure. The only elevator servicing this 4 level facility is located in the middle of the building and is accessible only from the exterior parking lot. The rooms all open onto an exterior walkway and, unlike the hotel's façade, have not been updated in more years than I can even surmise. Since we had a 5:45 AM flight the next morning, we would be leaving the hotel around 4:00 AM. The neighborhood is questionable after dark (typical of most city downtown areas) and the hotel's parking lot was poorly lighted, with absolutely no security.

This hotel is located in the historic district, right across from the Executive Mansion. The facilities are old, but my room was clean and comfortable. It was exactly what I needed since I was in town for a convention, and was not staying in my room for long periods of time. The young man that checked me in was very pleasant. The location was close to the historic distance and walking distance to most of the sites. However, it is right on the edge of the historic section, and some of the nearby neighborhood outside of that area seemed a little sketchy. I didn't want to wander that far out of the neighborhood. Also, the hotel backs up to railroad tracks, and the train is very loud. I slept through it, but probably not a good location for light sleepers.

Friendly staff. Hotel rooms need updating but was clean. Good for a basic place to stay close to the downtown sites. Close to the tracks so bring ear plugs !

With the sale of under $60/night, its a great deal! Not the best you can get, but they got everything you need there.just no microwave/fridge.

The room was relatively clean, but smelled really stale. Curtains, furniture and and carpet need deep cleaning. Two of the lamps didn't work - and overall lighting was dim and depressing. TV remote didn't work. Bathroom fixtures were clean, but stained and with pieces missing. I think this hotel needs some serious investment to survive.

Clean and comfortable with great rate. They are remodeling a wing so it will look better. I will not return because trains go within 300 feet of the rear of the hotel every hour or so with their horn blasting. Could not get a good nights sleep for two nights.

It was being remodeled so it was an ok stay. It is in the center of town, but ok.

was traveling for work and decided to stay near the city so I could go out at night. The pictures make it look nice but once I arrived I felt uncomfortable until I checked out. Sketchy part of town and not safe feeling. Train next to our room all night kept waking me up.

The pictures on line are nothing like they actually are. There were bugs in the bathroom as well. The beds were stiff and the room seemed out of date. However, it was close to the capital building and they offered free access to the YMCA.

Hotel is close to downtown Springfield attractions, but it's also close to the railroad station. Trains frequently pass and blow their horns very early morning and evening. It's really LOUD.

Very convenient location, walking distance to almost everything in downtown Springfield. You must take the tour at the Dana-Thomas House and both State Capitol buildings.

The hotel itself is located nicely across the street from the Governors mansion. It had a clean lobby, and staff greeted us quickly and let us check in slightly early. The room was what you would expect for a budget hotel. It had a slight moldy odor that was present. The elevator always had a smell of either cigs or dirt. Neither pleasant. The worst part? The train that went by with holy loud horn at 1030 pm and 7am every day. Now I live by trains, and they don't normally bother me. But the tracks are RIGHT behind the hotel. So its not a muffled horn. Its in your face horn. The other item to note was that we had a two bed room. The one bed had a metal stake like object coming out of the side of the bed. Part of the bed frame I would guess. It was hidden by the ripped bed skirt (too bad the rip didn't show the stake) and when I sat down to put my socks on, I got a nasty scrape (blood, bruise the works). I took photos of both the metal object and my ouchie. The front desk worker on Sunday when we checked out ( I did the scrape late Saturday night) said Not our fault and her pretend lack of English made me roll my eyes and figure it wasn't worth the hassle. So you get what you paid for. I'm not sure I would stay here again, but it did save us soem $$ for the weekend.

My husband I stayed at thats hotel because the prince cheap and good location but we did not know the bed very thin and not convertible but we can not complain because we pay with good price.

It was fine. The staff there is courteous and always takes good care of me when I am there.

Great room for the price and location. Front deskrep at check in was so nice.. Talked and was friendly....

Hotel was ok. Staff was ok. Room was clean but walls could use repairing in bathroom. Drywall bubbling and carpet was dirty. Not sure I would visit this hotel again.

The room was very dirty and the neighbor hood was not the greatest at all. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We were only there for 10 minutes which was long enough to get our bags out of the car and up to the room and back to the front desk they would not give us our money back.

Cleanliness and service was acceptable. Good location in downtown SApringfield

I do not suggest this hotel if you are a single female staying here. Location is sketchy and the bathroom needed a good scrub down before i was going to use it. Beds aren't too bad.

Hotel was clean. Staff was courteous and helpful. Older hotel but good value for the money.
