Alamo Motel2.0 out of 5.0

Our room was large-ish, comfortable, and reasonably inexpensive - considering it was the night before the 2017 Eclipse, when almost everybody jacked up their rates. The bed was comfortable and the room clean. The fridge was larger than average, which was good for us. We had to get the clerk to show us how to use the shower control ... it is a push in/out for on/off but this one had to be "wiggled" to get it to work. Otherwise, OK.
We stayed here for 3 nights during Sheridan rodeo. Air conditioner was in the wall below the window. The bed was approximately 2 foot away. The person on the side of the bed by the air conditioner froze, and the person on the other side of the bed got hot. That said, the room never got cool. We seriously considered just leaving there and finding another place. There were plenty of places with vacancies all over town. The only plus side was that there was a small neighborhood bar about a block from the motel. We enjoyed spending one evening there, playing pool and visiting with the locals. But we toughed it out. I wouldn't stay there again unless it was the very last resort.
The room was immaculate, the staff was excellent, the price was very reasonable. We would definitely stay there again. We called the night before and said we would have a late arrival. The bed was comfortable and the staff could not have been any more helpful. They even gave us great dining recommendations.
Booked the Alamo Motel through Hotels.Com and there were no issues. Em, the front desk man, was very pleasant, exceedingly patient, and wanted to deliver a good experience for his guests. We love the motels where you drive right up to your door and the Alamo Motel is just that kind of place! We found our room to be clean, spacious, equipped with an updated bathroom, desk, good air conditioning, fridge and microwave, and plenty of electrical outlets for our gizmos and chargers. The courtyard is small so parking, especially with a motorcycle and trailer, can be tricky. The Alamo is within easy walking distance of a couple bars and restaurants. Our experience was favorable and we would definitely stay again if in Sheridan!
We had a reservation made through Expedia months ago, we walked in to check in and were told "we never received your reservation". I asked what were supposed to do. The reply was "Get your money back from Expedia". At that point I was more worried about where my family of 6 was going to stay the night as this was part of our road trip from Portland OR and we were really far from home. We weren't even given any kind of apology and the front desk people wouldn't even make eye contact. There was a big rodeo in town so my guess is they cancelled our reservation so they could rent the room out for a higher price. We ended up staying at the Super 8 which the staff was awesome! Expedia paid for one of the two rooms, we had to pay for the 2nd as no where else in town had a room to accommodate our family. Thanks for nothing Alamo Motel!
I tried to cancel my reservation and they said they would not allow me to cancel so I said ok, then I'll stay and they said "we refuse to give you a room key". I said "you have to either let me stay or allow me to cancel" and they refused. So they charged me even though I had to go somewhere else to stay. The reason I did not want to stay was because when I saw the room, the carpet was torn up and it smelled awful.
I usually don't give bad reviews because I am not a peaky guy. Even if the hotel has some negatives for me a hotel is a place to sleep and take a shower, not to live in it so I don't care if it's outdated, or not very good looking and etc, but this time I had a horrible experience. I booked a room in Alamo Hotel, Sheridan, WY thru internet. Everything went thu, I got the confirmation on my email and I got charged on my card. I always call a day ahead just to confirm the hotel has my confirmation (I've travel a lot so it's not my 2nd or 3rd time) but nobody picked up the phone. I had to leave tbe same night from home because I had 1100 miles to drive for next day, already traveled 800 miles, I had 300 left. I called again about 11am M.T. and after ~30 seconds a guy finally picked up. I gave him my information and he said "We don't ha e anything on your name" I tried to ask to check by other information (like CC number, online receipt, etc.) he just said "there is nothing that can be done, you are just not in our registration" and I was like "ok what am I supposed to do, I paid it already, I am 800 miles away from home and you are telling me you don't have the information" he said again "there is nothing that can be done, what so you want me to do" ... well that was extremly rude, when there is a problem lime this you try to resolve it, I asked dor manager but he said "he was out of town" ... well in the end I was relocated to other hotel thru the site I booked it without any additional charge, it seemed the problem was not in the internet conpany, they had everything in their system right, including that the booking went thru and was accepted. Then I started reading more reviews (I checked only 3 or 4 when I booked it) but I found other people had same or similar problem with the same hotel, so it's them, not 1st time obviously... avoid this hotel at any cost, pay 10-15 $ more but at least in some better kind of hotel, it's not woth it to risk your trip and plans where there is a chance to have to deal with this!
Hotel has terrible customer service. Hotel charged my card even after I cancelled my reservation. The owner is rude employees are rude and inconsiderate. I would never recommend this Motel I would rather sleep in my vehicle
Outdated, fairly clean (though I did have to clean the toilet seat). Does not have breakfast. Does have an ice machine. Right on a main road so easy to find but you do get road noise. Very small motel. A few restaurants and fast food places near by.
The room was a bit dated but the bed was good for a night's sleep. I would stay here again. They didn't offer breakfast of any kind but it's close by. I've stayed in the best in Sheridan and the worst as well. This was in between those two.
