Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. It is furnished old style but big rooms, great gym area and close to train station. Only 20 min drive to Shenzhen Bay Border. Stayed in an Executive club which had lounge for drinks and canapés between 6-8pm. Could also use the meeting room for free. Breakfast was included but just ok. Not 5 star. Gym was excellent. Indoor swimming pool which costs extra and massage was average. I would stay there again
Needed overnight stay from China domestic flight to Shenzhen for business the next day. Easy ride on Shenzhen subway get off at Zhuzi Lin ( Bamboo Forest) Station- just get out of station and walk across the street. If you have a big or bulky luggage- we had wheeled luggage, but hard to find smooth transition from station to the hotel entrance. Easy and friendly check-in. Hallway carpets a high/low pile design- really lacked a good shampoo- made me feel dirty before we even entered the room. Carpet in the room was thankfully much cleaner- but old and worn. Bathroom looked clean until I saw the mold in the shower. Really needed some clean up. Shower very hot with strong spray. AC medium cold- so we got a good rest. Buffet breakfast a very good value with all kinds of meats, yogurt, eggs and Chinese breakfast staples. Super friendly breakfast staff. AC in restaurant was not strong enough- so a bit uncomfortable. Chairs were ancient, felt like a huge sumo wrestler had been sitting in it - slumping down in the worn cushion. We caught a cab and 20RMB later we are at the Huanggang Border crossing. Might work for overnight- but would search for other newer property near Shenzhen border in future.
The bed mattress in hotels usually have 2 layers, but here it is just one. Apart from having only 1, it is a bit hard (as if only the bottom layer is present and they forgot to add the top one.. am not sure). Woke up with aching muscles because of this. Haha. Apart from that, room size is huge, breakfast is so-so, hotel is clean though not new. Very good location though, being just infront of Zhuzilin Metro station (3 or more stops away from key metro stations). It costs around 40rmb from Shenzhen train station in LuoHu to this hotel (since I went here from GZ). Overall it is your money's worth since hotel offers free laundry for 1 shirt, returned to you the same day. Taxi is also easy to hail from the hotel entrance.
The hotel is in a good location for the Futian business district and is right next to the Zhujilin metro station. It's only a couple of stops on the metro to Coco Park/Shopping Park with plenty of shops and cafes, Window of the World by Holiday Plaza shopping mall or OCT for a Walmart supermarket and some restaurants. The hotel rooms are very large but the hotel is quite dated and the beds aren't the comfiest in standard rooms but good value.
Not too far from the airport and close to the border crossing to Hong Kong. A typical Accor hotel which met my needs and trouble free during my overnight stay at the hotel. A few large shopping malls are just 10 mins driving distance.
I am an Accor member and have stayed at Accor group hotels many times. Was kindly upgraded to Executive floor but do not have access to the lounge during normal hours except for the evening period. Found this arrangement strange as this is not the normal practise for Accor group. The room is dated even on the Executive floor and quite small. As always, the aircon in the room is not cold in most China's hotels, 24 degree C and handly get any air flow even at maximum setting and a few rounds of getting the repair man to look at it. Definitely require an upgrade. The Hotel is excellently located next to the Zhuzhilin Metro station (line 1). The hotel is very crowded I think mostly on business travel. The reception is small and the breakfast and lounge bar are situated next to the reception and hence make it noisy and crowded. The staff are polite and helpful. The breakfast spread is adequate with good chinese dishes like noodle soup, porridge and buns. This is the first time that I was not asked to write a review by an Accor group hotels. Is there a drop in standard and quality here?
Traveled to Shenzhen for work. Client suggested this hotel. Stayed in a bay view suite which gave us access to the lounge. Food decent. Room large with a kitchen area and a living room in addition to the bedroom. A bit dated but also nice to have this extra space. Bathroom area also really large. Issue was the beds which were hard as a rock and felt like sleeping on concrete. The assistant manager told me that many westerners complain about this. Housekeeping did add a mattress pad. I then asked for 2 more down comforters so between the pad, 2 additional down comforters and pillows it did help however most hotels especially those catering to international travelers have realized the need for more comfortable beds. Additionally the AC was a huge issue. Even when complaining and asking them to reduce the set point, due to humidity in Shenzhen, the room was always uncomfortably warm. They gave me 2 fans. The manager explained that the ac unit was over 10 years old. All understood but it didn't change the fact that the time in the room was fairly unpleasant.
I spent 10 minutes to explain why I could not prepaid from accorhotel.com however Linda- a woman from department of reservation said she could do nothing on this, then hang off! I had to stay at another hotel instead of this one.
The location of the Grand Mercure is exceptionally convenient to the metro. The dining options on site are sufficient and the Executive floor afternoon tea and breakfast options make the Mercure tolerable for travelers on the corresponding floors. The area behind the hotel is interesting/gritty, and it is an easy walk to gardens, shopping or dining. During my first visit a few years back, we used space In the back of the sports bar which included a small theatre. If you are travelling with a group, this is a fun way to watch videos while enjoying bar service (food/bev). Compared to the other primary luxury hotel in the area, this hotel is a value. You get what you pay for.
Booked this hotel because it is convenient to travel to HK from the hotel location .The metro train station is right in front of the hotel . Room are clean and decent to stay . Offered the basic room amenities. There is an indoor swimming pool and gym for guest to enjoy
