Building with the pool and huge kitchen/dining area worked well for all of us to cook and eat together. The pellet smoker/grill/griddle was awesome. Our host Kate was very receptive - we had an issue with the AC in the main cabin upstairs - sent someone out quickly. The property is so private and quiet. We really enjoyed our week there.

Overall it was good. It’s odd driving up to it. After the gate you will pass several trailers that people live in. They came up to the property to get their dog while we were there. The layout is not great. The 3 smaller cabins are at the bottom of a steep hill. The loft in the cabins has a very low ceiling. We did enjoy it but for the price I don’t think we should have to buy toilet paper. The listing is accurate. You will need 4wd to get up to the property. It’s a windy road to get to Gatlinburg and the other tourist areas.

We had 28 family members stay at the cabins. We were all able to have privacy yet still hang out together. We all enjoyed the pool and the pond. It was great having kitchen and enough seats for us to have meals together by the pool. We weee close enough to get to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The property was well kept, clean and just gorgeous. We had a small problem but Kate had it taken care of very quickly. We will definitely stay again!

Oasis away from the crowds
Hellbender is such a nice piece of property away from it all. It was our youngest birthday this weekend so we figured we would get him and his friends a place with a pool. Didn’t realize how much more we would get. This property is huge! So much to explore and beautifully taken care of. Kate was on top of all my questions responding almost immediately. Everything was clean as a whistle and we loved how well equipped it all was. The two oldest had their own cabin and couldn’t praise it enough. The pool house was amazing….the boys spent so much time in there. Will definitely be booking here again in the future. Thanks again to Kate and her awesome property!

AWESOME FAMILY VACATION
We had an awesome family vacation! Our Family included 4 grandchildren 12,11, 10, 9 and 4 adults.
The cabin was beautiful and has everything you need! It was exceptionally clean as well!
Great outdoor area to play with the kids, we set up a badminton & volleyball net.
There is a hiking trail, and fabulous pond for fishing. The pond was the grandkids favorite.
A great plus is a generator for the cabin as well. There was a day of thunderstorms and the cabin lost power, but the generator kicked on immediately.
Our family would definitely come back again!
Thank you for a great family vacation!

Absolutely Beautiful!
One if not they best locations that we have stayed at in the 18 years of us coming to the Smokies!
From the absolutely breathtaking views, the wildlife and the amazing trout pond it’s just a beautiful resort of it’s own!
Wind and rain storm no worries this cabin has its own standby power so no outages like most other places, beautiful hiking trails on site just absolutely perfect!

Cozy cabin
Our family loved our stay at this property. The cabin was large enough for our entire family, but cozy at the same time. The hot tub was amazing. I will see the trip up the mountain twice a day was a lil more time consuming then anticipated but I beautiful drive. We would definitely stay again.

Relaxing
Kate was amazing, readily available. The grand kids loved fishing in the pond. The cabin was the cleanest cabin we have ever rented. The only down fall for us, is we like to go to town every day and it was a bit of a drive. I would highly recommend this cabin. If you want to get away and just sit around and relax, this is the cabin for you. We will be checking out the other properties listed with Vacation Smart Rentals

Beautiful but very isolated
The cabin itself was beautiful, very clean. The only down fall we have was one the driveway up is quite steep, new gravel was one issue. Problem with gps, check directions and find them on gps before leaving the Wi-Fi at cabin. About 40 mins from pigeon forge. Overall good experience!

Perfect Gateaway
Absolutely loved this cabin. Secluded with all of the modern amenities. The only suggestion is to drive an suv. The driveway is a little steep and rocky. However, the we didn’t care. It was an amazing property to stay at.

Awesome stay
The home was just as listed. So cute, very comfortable and homey. The dining room table was amazing. We spents mornings out on the porch and enjoyed a lot of time in the hot tub. If you are looking for a secluded get away, this is the place for you! We would definitely stay here again.

Best experience we could have hoped for in a VRBO
I've had mixed experiences in the past with VRBO so I was a little hesitant to book a new place with no reviews. Turned out to be the best decision I could have made. A lot of rental properties in the Smokys are older and most are run by a hired rental manager or owned by a rental company. I read hundreds of reviews of these properties and many of the complaints were about less-than-well-maintained or dirty cabins. A lot of supposed 'secluded and private' cabins turn out to be only semi-private when you look at their locations from the Google earth satellite view and that wasn't the vibe I was looking for.
I needed a place for a larger family group (and our dogs!) with nice amenities in a private setting. We settled on Hellbender after a lot of research. Kate was fantastic starting with the communication after the booking. We arrived to a beautiful fully refurbished secluded cabin that might as well be new construction. Well-equipped kitchen, new furniture and appliances. Nice large & comfortable beds. Plenty of space for everyone to retreat to. Great dining room for meals for the group. A really nice touch was the little mat with dog bowls in the kitchen. My dogs are family too.
Perhaps most impressive to me was the forethought for the little things that can irritate when on vacation - the backup generator, reliable WiFi, the on-demand water heater so everyone could shower, the large six burner gas range for cooking for a larger family, and the extra propane tank by the grill in case the first one runs out. Little things can make a big difference.
We loved the privacy and explored the grounds on a daily basis. Every morning a bald eagle was perched in the trees, we found salamanders in the pristine mountain streams, we saw numerous box turtles, picked ripe raspberries, and even had a meal of rainbow trout caught from the pond.
It's a little over a half hour to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge and well worth the short scenic drive on the mountain roads. Peace and quiet, privacy, and space to explore is what we were looking for and Hellbender didn't disappoint. Kudos to our hosts for great communication and beautiful place. Highly recommend and I can't think of a single negative on this one.
