The hotel room was beautiful. This was the beginning of my fourth week of travel, my sixth hotel room and before this stop, I'd been in the worst hotel ever, so walking into this place was such a relief. I was so happy to be in a nice, clean, comfortable, beautiful room. Very modern, very well decorated. And the shower, the water falls directly from the ceiling. So neat. One of the coolest showers I've ever used. The location is great. Right around the corner from the Cathedral. I liked that I could stay out late to watch the light show on the cathedral and easily walk back to my room. Lots of shops and cafes within walking distance. Really nice place, would definitely stay here again and gladly recommend to anyone.
The hotel is just across the street for the cathedral's back yard - awesome. All the historic highlights are within a short walk. Also, the general stores, restaurants and much other attraction are at your footsteps in the old city of Rouen. Parking is a challenge. If you arrive early and you are lucky to occupy vacancy in the parking, you will only have to carefully maneuver your car into the vacant place. Not a big deal. Otherwise, you will have to use public parking. It is not bad as you don't really need the car during your stay. The staff is mostly friendly and can help you in English. The rooms are clean. Bath room is clean and not spacious. The room is quiet and the air-condition worked okay. Breakfast is good. For dinner, they offer only a snack. The gym is 2 or maybe 3 aerobic devices. In our next visit to Rouen, we will likely stay here.
We had been driving all day, and arrived the hotel exhausted. I had written in the reservation that we needed parking even tho on booking.com it said that we didn't need to book parking.. The man in the reception was so rude! He was rolling his eyes at us, talked to us in a very rude way. When I said that I wasn't trying to fight with him, that I just wanted to tell him what the description on booking.com said, he just waved his arms and ignored me. I have been working as a receptionist for many years now, and I have NEVER talked to guests like this, even when people are difficult! This is super tragic. Because we kind of understod that this was not the hotels mistake, we just wanted to inform about the misguidence on the booking page. He was rude, waved his arms and made faces.. we felt really stupid and not welcomed... And we actually paid a lot for the two rooms we booked... If I was he's manager, I would have fired him - no questions asked! And this is sad, because the hotel has a nice location, and the rooms are nice..
This hotel has an old section with lovely half-timbering that faces the cathedral, and the main, new section that faces down a handsome narrow road lined with historic buildings. The location is absolutely terrific: it's a two-minute walk to great food and ten minutes to the main museums. The rooms are comfortable enough, have good baths, good wifi, big windows with light and fresh air, and excellent soundproofing. The staff is friendly. And there is a car park below the building. So this met all our needs and I recommend it without hesitation.
You cannot find a better location to stay in Rouen than at the Mercure. Literally steps away from the beautiful cathedral of Rouen, and shopping, eating, cultural sites ++ just minutes walking. The fact that it looks modern, is up to you how to review, but the qualities of the hotels stands back from no other 4 star hotel. Decent price for summer time, expensive (but good) breakfast, nice rooms with fridge and good sleeps. I hate having to call for an iron, but they had one (although a bit wobbly). Visit Rouen, a great city!
The hotel is situated right in the centre of Rouen, so location could not be better. Parking can be tricky, with the hotel underground parking very tight and is on a first come basis, so late afternoon arrivals may have to go to the public parking which is a 5 minute walk away. Rooms are comfortable and clean with a great shower. Breakfast is typical of France, but of a good standard. Pre-book your restaurants for Sundays, as a lot of them are closed.
We've stayed in the hotel for a couple of nights with the baby. So, for us a question of comfort was #1: we didn't want to wake up anyone around in case our baby starts crying, nor we wanted to be awaken by someone in the middle of the night leaving the hotel with 10 bags or coming back from a party. Well, I can say, this place is soundproof. We didn't hear any noice from the outside, nor anyone complained about us (luckily, the baby almost didn't cry at all, and it night she just slept...like a baby :) We've also asked for a baby bed and it was comfortable, no issue on that side. Hotel personnel is very gentle. They helped us with a couple of small requests including late checkout (I would like personally thank a woman named Ornella). Despite +30C outside (which was not typical for that region), the A/C worked OK. It wasn't too cold in the room, but comfortable enough. The breakfast wasn't too great, but OK: not that much of variety, but you can always find yogurt , musli, scrambled eggs, ham, cheese etc. Even fresh-squeezed orange juice. Everything was fresh and tasty. A couple of negative things: WiFi was very unstable. Though the connection was always there, in reality sometimes it just stalled for 10-15 minutes. The parking isn't possible to reserve in advance and it's relatively narrow. So, first come - first get and leave your Cadilac at home ) Other than that - I'd recommend this place, if you go to Rouen whether for business purposes or on vacation.
Hotel is located just around the corner from the Cathedral. The parking is under the hotel, leave your car. The hotel is modern, clean, spacious, bright, and very nice. We were upgraded to a premium room and it was very lovely with additional amenities and larger than most rooms. Good size bathroom. Very comfortable room. The breakfast buffet was generous with both hot and cold foods, fresh fruit, many choices. My favorite was the baked apple. This is a perfect location for a visit to Rouen as you can walk anywhere from this hotel. The only problem we had was driving the one-way streets to find it. Once there, everything was great. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Good Location but tired decor and fitting, cleanliness poor. The door laminates were peeling off and the tiles in the bathroom and toilet were dirty. The carpet at the entrance was badly worn overall the decor was poor. The good thing about this location was the central position and car park. A detail direction map to find the hotel through the one way circuit would have prevented much frustration
I had a group of 42 people including myself stay at this property on the 29 May. The hotel is located very near the town square. The streets by the hotel are very small, cobblestone streets. This means the motorcoach could not pull right up infront of the hotel so people had to walk 1 block with their suitcases. However the charm of the hotel and its location made up for the walk. The rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet had a great selection and the food was decent. Thank you very much Mecure Rouen Centre Cathedrale!!! I will highly recommend your property to all my clients.
