Let's get this straight I use trip advisor so knew what we where getting ....almost. The hotel is very clean the staff are excellent and very polite. Specially the 2 guys who work the bar well done boys. Yes the bathroom is a joke but a clean one and I wasn't planning to stay in there that long. A kettle would help in the room even if they never provided tea or coffee. But on arrival we where updated to a sea view room thank that was a nice touch. The planes! I loved them could watch them all day. The bar food was ok the drinks a little pricey but we all gotta make a living haven't we. The breakfast least said soonest mended is my theory we went down on first morning, didn't go again so they should offer bed only I suppose. The whole of santorini is expensive to eat and drink some places a down right rip off. Back to the hotel it's a basic hotel clean friendly decent pool and we enjoyed our week.
The description of the hotel sounded great but they forgot to mention it is directly on the flight path of the airport. They are loud and very low, you can nearly count the wheel nuts. This starts about 7 am and stops about 11.30 pm. the room was small and the toilet a joke. Breakfast was boring and the same everyday. No eggs, hot or cold no toast no bacon no sausages no ham. But spam???? are they having a laugh???? Small bottle of cider 4.5 Euros yes nearly £9 a pint. The black beach 100 meters away is not a beach but rocks and stones and if you venture into the water the sea bed is as hard as concrete. Maybe in a million years it will be a beach. Santorini is very expensive and don't get me started about the donkeys. Greece is in the EU this is the 21st Century and we still allow donkeys and mules to transport fat tourists up a mountain in 30+ degrees heat. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful and the hotel was clean but I guess you are aware I will not go back.
Really friendly staff all throughout, hotel room cleaned daily, nice double bed bed in our room bathrooms are a tad unindated but thats a given for greece, pool is lovely and cool for a nice soak after having the blisterimg sun rays hit you :)
Me and my boyfriend visited Hotel Alexandra 22nd August -5th September. This was our first time visiting Santorini and wasn't sure where to stay, after speaking to a few people we were recommended to stay in Kamari and do day trips to visit Fira and Oia, which I am glad we did as Kamari I found there was lots of nice places to eat on the beach front and down the side afternoon and evenings and you also have to beach. I would definitely stay in Kamari again Fira and Oia are very beautiful but I like to be close to the beach. We booked this hotel through Thomas Cook and it was a bit of a last minute holiday on a budget so I did just pick the cheapest hotel that came up in Kamari. The reviews were ok so we were excited. I got told the hotels in Greece are very basic and I was expecting this hotel to be more basic but it was so much better than I expected. Very close to the airport so you can hear the planes but you can wherever you are in Kamari. We booked either a balcony or a terrace so didn't mind which we got, once we arrived (quite late) we were told we were going to have a terrace but not to unpack as tomorrow when people left she'd move us to a sea view as we were staying for 2 weeks which was a nice start to the holiday. The terrace room was fine but when we moved we had such a beautiful view! The room was basic but very clean bathroom was just very small and a little old fashioned but we got told some are refurbished so they might get done. Everyone that worked at the hotel was so happy and friendly and made us feel so welcome and at home! The bar men were lovely we had lunch here most days the snacks are lovely and cocktails are great.. definitely the best cocktails we had that holiday. Loved our holiday here and cried when we had to leave so would definitely stay here again! Definitely higher than a 2* hotel. I also think they haven't put the best pictures up it looks dark and dull on the pics but it's bright and lovely!
Came to Santorini with my husband and wanted to stay somewhere near the water. For those who have never been to santorini, it's a rock, not a beach town. The only places that have beach access is in Kamari and Parissa. Oia where the blue homes are is 2 hours by bus and Fira is about 15 minutes by bus, tge public transportation is great on the island and every one will help you get around. So if you are looking for a place with many shops and restaurants, that's cheaper than Fira this hotel is in the right location. It's about a 10 minute walk to the beach, it's a safe town so there's nothing to worry about when walking to the strip, everyone there is a tourist. The staff in the hotel is very pleasant, will go out of their way to assist you in any way. The rooms are like a motel so don't expect high end accommodations. But the rooms are clean, with air conditioning, clean towels and clean bathroom. Some of the other reviews also mentioned that the bathrooms are small, this is true but it's definitely enough to take a shower and do all your business be on your way. The complimentary Continental breakfast is good, equivalent to a continental breakfast at any hotel in the usa. If you want a bigger breakfast walk down to the beach there are many inexpensive options. Overall I would definitely come back here, we had a really pleasant experience.
We just spent 2 weeks here, for the 2nd time, It really is a beautiful hotel, the staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble & the cleanliness is something else, fresh towels/bedding every day, room cleaned too, we had a suite, we didn't book 1, so we were really pleased to be given it, the pool snacks are lovely, not to mention the cocktails made by Pedro, he really is amazing at making them :) :) breakfast is continental, if you want a 'fry up' then i suggest you go into Kamari, to be honest, the heat would put you off, but it's there should you want it. I personally think some of the poor reviews of this hotel are very unfair, & i suggest, you do your research before booking this hotel if you don't like noise from the planes which fly over very low, we loved this aspect of it, there are plenty other hotels to choose from but i wonder would you be made to feel as welcome as you would be here, we are returning in 2019 & that will be our 3rd time so it can't be THAT bad, can it?
Just got back from a week in this hotel , I booked it as a surprise for my partners 50th birthday, I was concerned as it was a 2 star , and it was near the airport, I shouldn't have worried , the hotel is definitely not a 2 star more like 3 plus , the family that run the hotel are friendly and are always about to help , we wanted to hire a for the day which they did for us half the price of what the rep said it would cost , breakfast was OK continental so is what it is , food at the pool side bar lovely and reasonably priced, the bar men are both lovely and work hard , we will definitely be going back . Perfect location for the beach , 10 mins walk to the shops and lots of bars and restaurants which are located along the beach front , we'll priced and good food , as I love wine we sampled a lot, all nice .
We have just arrived back from The Alexandra Hotel and had a brilliant week. This is not a 2* hotel whatsoever. All of the staff were lovely and very helpful. The rooms were exceptionally clean and very modern. The cleaners changed your towels and sheets everyday. The pool area is fabulous and must have been modernised recently. There was ample sunbeds for all in the hotel. Yes, the hotel is very near to the airport and the planes landing are quite loud but this did not affect our holiday in the slightest. Kamari beach is a 5-10 minute walk away where there are lots of nice restaurants and bars. There is a local bus stop 2 minutes away where you can catch the bus into Thira and then into Oia. We would definitely return to the hotel and recommend it to others.
Hotel Alexandra is a very nice, clean hotel with very nice staff. The rooms are big and clean, they change the bed sheets and towels every other day, there is free air condition in the room and the rooms have nice views. The hotel is very close to the beach and has free wifi. The pool is clean and nice and they have a bar where you can find anything you want. I had a great time and I am very happy I chose this hotel. I can`t wait to go back there!
I am just back from Santorini and I must say I was so disappointed with the area. I expected to see the beautiful white buildings with blue roofs, didn't see any in Kamari. Our hotel was the worst I had ever stayed in. The door to our room wouldn't shut from the inside so we had to put a bin against the door to keep it shut until the staff fixed it. The bathroom was like something from the 70s and had a really bad smell. No hairdryer in the room, no beach towels to hire. The breakfast was the worst we have ever had, no toaster. The choice was bread and jam, a few slices of cheese or cold meat we had breakfast out every day. The surrounding area was very run down you would never think you were in this beautiful place that you see on the TV or in brochures. The noise from the planes landing is horrendous and I think the tour operator should tell you what to expect, which they hadn't. Some of the staff were friendly, the owner wasn't very nice.
