We stayed at this hotel in 2015. It is basic, but I'm happy with that. The staff at the hotel are very nice, the rooms are fine, the showers always seem to be a let down when I go to Greece, the breakfast isn't the best, if you're expecting a fry up you won't be getting it. The pool area is very nice. The location is great, very short walk to the beach, 5-10 minute walk into the Kamari strip, plenty of restaurants to choose from. If you don't want planes flying over you for most of the day then don't stay here, its very close to the airport. I'd definitely go back to this hotel.
We have just returned from our wonderful holiday in Santorini where we stayed once again in the Alexandra Hotel in Kamari. Such a lovely friendly family run hotel where we were made to feel welcome once again and we were given everything we requested. Again Petros was fantastic, he looked after us so well and he definitely makes the best cocktails in Santorini! We recommend anyone to make a visit to this unique place - you won’t be disappointed!
We stayed here for our summer holiday in July for 7 nights. I know that the hotel is cheap and maybe we shouldn't expect much, but what we found there was really under our expectations. We read ahead the reviews and booked a studio in order to be able to have some more space and prepare a quick salad for lunch. We contacted the hotel in advance a couple of times to be sure that our room was ok and we asked for a quiet room. When we arrived the lady in the Reception ( owner's daughter ) greeted us nicely and we were checked-in fast. However the disappointment came when we entered the room. The studio was on a side alley of the hotel where from time to time cars would pass by or scouters so not quiet at all. Also, being on the back side of the hotel, in a separate building, I didn't feel safe at all, good thing the island is safe. The bathroom was horrible, full of rust and very very old, needless to say the kitchinette are was as old as that as well. We went to the Reception and asked if it is possible to be upgraded to an apartment, of course extra paid, they said no.They didn't offer ANY SOLUTION apart from the fact that it was our fault we asked for a quiet room and they allocated that studio which wasn't renovated like a couple of others. Now, I work in the same field, in a hotel and I didn't mention that to them, but this is no way to handle a guest complaint, especially if you know that your rooms are indeed in a poor condition. I didn't want to ruin our vacation so I moved past this thing, but to be honest, I would never stay in the Alexandra again! A short mention about the breakfast, we went there only on the first day as it was also horrible. If you like eating mortadella every day ( we don't eat pork ) and jam and bread, maybe cereals, this is what you get. No eggs at all, not even boiled, absolutely terrible. And the coffee....no comment. They serve espresso in the bar, Illy coffee, but at breakfast they give you a pot with absolutely horrible coffee.
Was there for 7 nights with my wife and kid.rooms were nice and clean with all facilities. Ilias at the bar was great as every other staff member. The only bad turn were the airplane noises. I definitely recommend I.
This is a pleasant small family run hotel ideal for those looking for a laidback holiday. Generally suited for older couples it is situated about 10 minutes walk from the main town. Be warned though that it is directly in the flight path to the airport and there is a fair degree of airplane noise. As the first flight from Athens arrives at 6 in the morning you probably wont need an alarm clock. The rooms are the usual Greek island style, basic yet functional with plenty of storage space, No tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms although breakfast is available from 8.00am. Continental style with a reasonable choice of meats. cheeses, cereals, fresh fruit, etc. The hotel, bar and pool area were always kept spotless with staff constantly cleaning - rooms cleaned on a daily basis. Plenty of sunbeds available at all times. Bar prices were about normal for the whole resort - soft drinks about 2 euros and wine at 3.5 euros. Spirits and special drinks up to 8 euros. Pedro the barman was very efficient and friendly. All the staff very welcoming. Stayed for 10 days and thoroughly ourselves.
Let's get this straight I use trip advisor so knew what we where getting ....almost. The hotel is very clean the staff are excellent and very polite. Specially the 2 guys who work the bar well done boys. Yes the bathroom is a joke but a clean one and I wasn't planning to stay in there that long. A kettle would help in the room even if they never provided tea or coffee. But on arrival we where updated to a sea view room thank that was a nice touch. The planes! I loved them could watch them all day. The bar food was ok the drinks a little pricey but we all gotta make a living haven't we. The breakfast least said soonest mended is my theory we went down on first morning, didn't go again so they should offer bed only I suppose. The whole of santorini is expensive to eat and drink some places a down right rip off. Back to the hotel it's a basic hotel clean friendly decent pool and we enjoyed our week.
The description of the hotel sounded great but they forgot to mention it is directly on the flight path of the airport. They are loud and very low, you can nearly count the wheel nuts. This starts about 7 am and stops about 11.30 pm. the room was small and the toilet a joke. Breakfast was boring and the same everyday. No eggs, hot or cold no toast no bacon no sausages no ham. But spam???? are they having a laugh???? Small bottle of cider 4.5 Euros yes nearly £9 a pint. The black beach 100 meters away is not a beach but rocks and stones and if you venture into the water the sea bed is as hard as concrete. Maybe in a million years it will be a beach. Santorini is very expensive and don't get me started about the donkeys. Greece is in the EU this is the 21st Century and we still allow donkeys and mules to transport fat tourists up a mountain in 30+ degrees heat. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful and the hotel was clean but I guess you are aware I will not go back.
Really friendly staff all throughout, hotel room cleaned daily, nice double bed bed in our room bathrooms are a tad unindated but thats a given for greece, pool is lovely and cool for a nice soak after having the blisterimg sun rays hit you :)
Me and my boyfriend visited Hotel Alexandra 22nd August -5th September. This was our first time visiting Santorini and wasn't sure where to stay, after speaking to a few people we were recommended to stay in Kamari and do day trips to visit Fira and Oia, which I am glad we did as Kamari I found there was lots of nice places to eat on the beach front and down the side afternoon and evenings and you also have to beach. I would definitely stay in Kamari again Fira and Oia are very beautiful but I like to be close to the beach. We booked this hotel through Thomas Cook and it was a bit of a last minute holiday on a budget so I did just pick the cheapest hotel that came up in Kamari. The reviews were ok so we were excited. I got told the hotels in Greece are very basic and I was expecting this hotel to be more basic but it was so much better than I expected. Very close to the airport so you can hear the planes but you can wherever you are in Kamari. We booked either a balcony or a terrace so didn't mind which we got, once we arrived (quite late) we were told we were going to have a terrace but not to unpack as tomorrow when people left she'd move us to a sea view as we were staying for 2 weeks which was a nice start to the holiday. The terrace room was fine but when we moved we had such a beautiful view! The room was basic but very clean bathroom was just very small and a little old fashioned but we got told some are refurbished so they might get done. Everyone that worked at the hotel was so happy and friendly and made us feel so welcome and at home! The bar men were lovely we had lunch here most days the snacks are lovely and cocktails are great.. definitely the best cocktails we had that holiday. Loved our holiday here and cried when we had to leave so would definitely stay here again! Definitely higher than a 2* hotel. I also think they haven't put the best pictures up it looks dark and dull on the pics but it's bright and lovely!
Came to Santorini with my husband and wanted to stay somewhere near the water. For those who have never been to santorini, it's a rock, not a beach town. The only places that have beach access is in Kamari and Parissa. Oia where the blue homes are is 2 hours by bus and Fira is about 15 minutes by bus, tge public transportation is great on the island and every one will help you get around. So if you are looking for a place with many shops and restaurants, that's cheaper than Fira this hotel is in the right location. It's about a 10 minute walk to the beach, it's a safe town so there's nothing to worry about when walking to the strip, everyone there is a tourist. The staff in the hotel is very pleasant, will go out of their way to assist you in any way. The rooms are like a motel so don't expect high end accommodations. But the rooms are clean, with air conditioning, clean towels and clean bathroom. Some of the other reviews also mentioned that the bathrooms are small, this is true but it's definitely enough to take a shower and do all your business be on your way. The complimentary Continental breakfast is good, equivalent to a continental breakfast at any hotel in the usa. If you want a bigger breakfast walk down to the beach there are many inexpensive options. Overall I would definitely come back here, we had a really pleasant experience.
