Apart from the scenic beauty, like any other hotel in Firostefani, this place has nothing else to offer. Even after a SPECIFIC INSTRUCTION that we are vegans, the hotel's not so intelligent staff served us turkey for breakfast. The hotel is far from the main street. So you have to carry your own luggage from the drop point to the hotel's entrance. Please look for better places as all the hotel's in Firostefani are located next to each other.
Beware this is two stars at a push - stuffed into a back room with a verandah used for hotel storage- broken chairs and dirty walls and floors + in need of substantial upgrade or alternatively they should advertise as 2 star
Hotel shuttle driver didn't show up to meet us at port as promised. Hotel gave us free shuttle to airport as compensation. First room had mold and peeling paint on walls and ceilings. Air conditioner was non functional. Moved to better room. Wi-Fi was down for two plus days. Affected all guests. Breakfast was good. Delivered by friendly, hard working guy. With some serious maintenance this would be a great place.
I stay in a room half craved into the crater wall. Room is ample for a couple. The view from the terrace is fantastic, where you could have breakfast and admire the volcano view at the same time. There’s 2 area where free parking are available. But Fira town centre is not far away, just 10 min walk.
I chose to stay here after reading about it in the Lonely Planet guide. The amount of choice in Santorini is overwhelming so I recommend narrowing it down by location, then by priority (View), then type of accomodation ( luxury / romantic / budget / etc). I narrowed it down to Firostefani , I wanted a great view and I wanted to experience the typical “cave” style and I wanted to splurge on romantic accommodation for our anniversary. We were very happy with our choice to stay here. We chose a suite , which was spacious and romantic . We didn’t have views from our room as such as our room was built into the cliff side but our windows at the front overlooked the pool and breakfast area where the views over the caldera Were beautiful. The service here was nice and we loved our suite, it felt very indulgent and typical of original style of Santorini architecture. I believe to get a beautiful room with great views private balcony private pool /spa you would need to get the premier / honeymoon suites which look beautiful in the advertising. But are expensive. The cheaper rooms are in the less preferred sites , so if you get a standard room you may not get the space and view you are after. We chose a suite as a splurge and are happy we did as we will probably only go to Santorini once in our life so wanted the nicest we could afford. There are many options on Santorini and this one met our priorities expectations and budget. We loved staying here ( location, cleanliness, amenities). It’s not the biggest newest or fanciest on the island but to us it was typical Santorini which is what we wanted.
The photos on the site and booking.com are deceiving! The hotel does not look like the photos.... it is very run down and dirty. The pool is very small. The kitchenette was just a cupboard and nowhere to sit. We are very disappointed.
The location of the property was fantastic and made for easy access to restaurants and the local town.. The view was unobstructed and amazing. The room was very clean and spacious. The one issue was the hot tub was not hot.
The location is stunning. We loved the view just outside of our room. Responsiveness was great pre-arrival and generally helpful while there. The sleeping quarters were tiny in our room, but bigger in others - maybe to be expected for a "cave room." The breakfast was served in a stunning manner, but consisted of pastries/fruit, not anything warm. Our hot tub didn't work the first night, but they fixed it for the next. There is no place to hide from the afternoon sun in the common areas. It didn't have a warm welcoming feel, which I suppose you aren't really in Santorini for in any case, but it was very noticeable. We don't have any regrets and liked it. The view is certainly what you dream of when you think Santorini. However, you can probably get that view, slightly better common areas and better hospitality elsewhere for the same price.
Be aware that there are lots of steps to navigate in Santorini! The best feature of our room was that it was located near the Main Street of Firostefani, just behind the restaurant Mylos. We were separate from the rest of the hotel and actually had to walk through another place to get to reception, breakfast, the pool. Wifi was spotty and the room was adequate. Breakfast had to be ordered from a menu the night before and we needed to call 20 minutes prior to heading down to the pool, where it was served on a counter overlooking the caldera. I don't know what they would do if it rained. The pool was chilly and the hot tub was scalding.
This place looked much better in pictures than in person. I mean the location was great right in city center but the room i booked was not at all what I expected. I cant explain but it was just different. The hotel restaurant was really nice and good food.
