We booked this hotel as it seemed extremely good value for money, including breakfast and a view of the caldera. We wanted to be near the buses, taxis, night life and tour companies. We weren't actively searching for the spa pool that is with each room. We weren't disappointed. The hotel booked our transfer, and a man was in airport arrivals waiting for us - he also informed the hotel when we arrived at the parking area and they sent someone to take our bags which we were very grateful for due to the cobbles and steps. The receptionist was very pleasant, complimentary drinks on arrival. There are photos on the hotel website .The balcony was reasonably private ( only other guests walking past you) compared to many dearer hotels with caldera views. The breakfast was very adequate, you could have as much of anything on the list so long as it was pre ordered the day before. The rooms were clean and ours was very spacious with a cavernous shower room. the spa pool was wonderful to relax in after a day out. There are steps down to the suites but you have to expect this ( or up) in most accommodation in Fira. The views are stunning. There are many cruise ships that visit Santorini. Would recommend you print the schedule so you can gauge how many people are likely to be in Fira or Oia or on the more popular tours. Remember though 4 small ships on one day could carry less people then one big ship on another day. When these larger ships hold unto c3.700 people Santorini will be busy. The downside if it bothers you was the occasional whiff of donkeys as the station is just below the suites. We enjoyed watching people on the donkeys - seeing how the owners took them up and down in shifts and hearing the bells . Depending on the cruise ship schedule there can be many many donkeys travelling the 600 steps up and down to the old port. We didn't get much noise from the excellent restaurant overhead where you get a discount. You can have a meal delivered to your room if you want to and Leonardo the head waiter was very pleasant. If you want peace and quiet, taxis to restaurants and rose petals then I'm sure it's available elsewhere in Santorini at a far higher cost but Fira is where the action is unless you wish to be 24/7 in your room. So, a good hotel to be near all the facilities for a short stay and have fabulous views all the time.
Our ferry was cancelled due to bad weather. We could not travel to this hotel but they wouldn't even answer to my emails concerning a refund even though I know that other hotels have refunded their guests who could not travel.
We have just spent 8 nights here for our honeymoon and like the last reviewer we were also nearly put off by the sudden few bad reviews but are pleased we ignored them. For us it was the perfect location. If you’re staying in Firá expect a certain amount of hustle and bustle but I certainly wouldn’t say the noise from the restaurant upstairs or the donkeys and their owners disturbed us at all. It was actually one of the few places to stay that we thought wasn’t so overlooked which is hard to find in Santorini! We used the hotel transfer which was €25 (about average) and there was a man waiting to meet us where the minibus dropped us off and he carried our luggage through the cobbled streets and down to the hotel which was very helpful. Breakfast was served on our terrace each morning which was lovely. The fruit salad got a bit boring by day 8 but that was minor. There’s only 4 or 5 suites so we liked that it didn’t feel like a hotel and had our own space. The rooms were spotlessly clean and I don’t think the website photos do it justice, our room was really lovely. My only quibble would be that the hot tub had some algae in it but we came at the end of the tourist season so I’m assuming a deep clean is a winter job. It didn’t stop us getting in anyway. Over all, highly recommend!
Ive just come back from a week's stay and I read the last 3 reviews before going and they nearly put me off- I seriously wanted to ring my tour operator to change accommodation. I know everybody's experiences will be different but I wouldn't pay a lot of attention to the gross exaggerations below. Some facts- YES the hotel is Caldera view and cars cannot get close to the apts. Both when arriving and leaving the hotel provided assistance with my case, unprompted. No issue. YES there is the donkey station below. It does generate noise from the bells on the donkeys but nothing unacceptable. You've booked an apartment in the middle of Fira- there will be some noise! There is a slight odour at times (and might be worse at the height of summer) but it wasn't so bad to be unpleasant. If working animals offends you, not the place to go. The apartments were clean and tidy, the staff very polite and friendly. I don't like driving overseas (wrong side of the road and wrong side of the car too much for me!) So I find on holiday I either have a good location or a great view- these apartments have both. Fira is a lively town and hundreds pass through daily so if it is a quiet peaceful haven you are looking for, choose elsewhere. For me, it was perfect- the loveliest views, helpful friendly staff, couldn't be more in a central location.
A tad speechless describing this hotel with the rudest receptionist you can ever come across. The smell of donkey poo is for ever lasting coupled with the need to navigate through the donkey Poo over 300 steps makes it a nauseating experience. Please do not book this hotel. You will never come across a ruder receptionist, smelly hotel disgusting place.
Where can I start, will not go into too much details, the room is good the view is perfect however if don’t mind walking for one and a half km to get to the hotel book it, if you don’t mind waking up to donkeys noise as the donkey station is literally under the hotel book it, if you don’t mind smelling donkeys crap while having breakfast book it, reception open between 1030 and 1830, good luck if you can have any help, to me it is a Restautent with few rooms underneath, the noise from dragging chairs from the Restautent above is added bonus
You want rocahes I’m your clothes then stay here!!! The reception closes at 630 pm no 1 picks Up the phone, you can save money by staying here but why would you?? Rather not come this place is a disaster I’m from New York and don’t telling the truth there’s no privacy here and the rooms Smell bad and you’ll be getting visits by coroaches as I mentioned earlier so choice is yours guys I’ve booked it for 3 notes and checked out after 1st nite without getting my money back!! Best of luck!!
We spent 3 nights in this hotel. It is well located, close to the shops and Restaurants. The room is nice, our bed was not facing the sea, while others rooms were. The room was clean and it has a nice jacuzzi with just the right temperature to jump into and stare at the view of caldera. The assistance was excellent, we had breakfast all day which was ok. The one thing it was annoying are donkeys that are downstairs (ver close to the rooms) and we had to hear the bad men shouting at the donkeys that work carrying people downstairs. The donkeys smell was also annoying but the hotel has a odor system so it wasnt that bad. In the general, i liked the place and the view from the jacuzzi is awesome.
The rooms are really nice, the view from the terrace is perfect. The terrace is not very private but that is hard to find in Santorini anywhere. The rooms are kept clean but there is in general poor attention to details, something you would expect at these prices. Sheets were placed humid with all the windows closed. We got back to the room once and it was smelly and the day after we noticed that the sheets stained. The breakfast is not great and they managed to screwed it up almost everyday. There was only one day I got exactly what I wrote. When we got there the receptionist couldn’t even help us out figuring out where the closest parking was, maybe it was poor English but she could have at least showed it on the map. Also, there was no help with luggages, only when they saw my husband struggling over those steep stairs someone offered to help. This should be a mandatory service considering the position of the hotel. I understand you want to keep it local but prices like your hotel need qualified staff.
We stayed at Fanari Vista 1 night due to an evening flight arrival before a longer stay in Oia. Served our purpose in it isn’t far from the airport and very conveniently located for a night out in Fira. Summary of the pros and cons... Pros: - location. Easy walk to shops, restaurants and bars. - view. Great view of the Caldera. - enjoyed the included breakfast - help you with your baggage from drop off point to room. - value. Price was very reasonable compared to other options in the area. Cons: - a little dated room. - we arrived at 9 something at night. Check in seemed rushed as it seemed like the staff wanted to call it a night. Gave us a number to call if we had any questions. We did almost immediately after they left our room (and then again 30 mins later) but no one answered. End result is if you want an amazing view and a great location but don’t care as much about a fancy room or 24/7 amenities then this place is perfect.
