The Ritz-Carlton, Santiago5.0 out of 5.0

We are a family of 5 and the Ritz had adjoining rooms. The rooms were clean and was spacious. On the 10th floor, there is a club level that one can opt in (for a fee) or use status points. We paid for the club level, which included drinks and snacks throughout the morning and night. There is breakfast, lunch and dinner meals served at the club level. This was really convenient for us as we had little kids (ages 5 - 9). We could pop in at anytime and our girls can use the computer, grab some food and drinks, while the adults can have some social time. We never felt we had to plan for meals - it was a few floors away. The 10th floor personnel are very friendly and knowledgeable in Santiago and its surroundings. The staff are very nice and pleasant from 1st floor to the 15th floor (spa, pool, and gym). One thing I should mention is that I fell ill one night (I was losing consciousness) and one of the staff dealt with the situation in a very professional matter. I appreciated their concern, attention, and course of action. Having 3 girls in tow, I felt very safe in the the hotel and the area of the hotel.
This is a proper five star hotel and of course prices to boot. Service is excellent and the location perfect. Old colonial style interior in a modern exterior. The well-heeled come here and the Hotel is in one of the best part of town for restaurants.
Our stay started with an airport pickup by the hotel limo. It's always nice to have a car waiting after a flight into an unfamiliar city. This was our first trip to South American, a celebration of our 30 year anniversary. Unlike Buenos Aries and other cities we visited in Argentina, Santiago is very modern and cosmopolitan. The earthquake capital of the world, as some refer to it, is a wonder of modern architecture, intermingled with classic colonial buildings. I was amazed by some of the steel and glass structures that soared well into the skyline, in sight of our room at the Ritz is the tallest building in South America, the Gran Torre, 856 feet tall. The engineering skills developed to withstand temblors is of the finest quality. Prior to our arrival my wife contacted, Michael, the concierge who was instrumental in arranging the most memorable dinners at a variety of restaurants during our five night stay. The entire staff, from the door man, reception and maid service were extremely friendly and helpful and made our stay one of the best ever. Our room was very clean, nicely appointed and comfortable. The bed, well, one of the best in south America. While there we took advantage of the spa services, which is well equipped. The spa is on the top floor with great city views, bar, pool and Jacuzzi. Great place to relax after a day of sightseeing. The entire hotel staff seemed to know we were celebrating our anniversary and went out of their way do to something special each day. Flowers in our room, chocolate strawberries, wine and cheese. Our last night, before we left for dinner, we had a message asking us to come to the spa level before we went out. When we arrived we were greeted at the elevator by a staff member who took us into the bar area where they had a table set with a bottle of champagne, rose petals spread on the floor and hors d'oeuvres. Needless to say we plan to return. There is so much to see and do in Santiago that five days is not quite enough. As a side note for sight seeing or travel to restaurants the hotel has limo service at reasonable prices, well worth the cost.
We stayed here for two nights after seeing a bit of Chile. The hotel was stylish and the staff were impeccable. The location left a little to be desired, although it was only a fifteen minute metro to downtown. A wonderful and leisurely end to a great vacation.
We have two young kids (4 and 6 yo) and have stayed here on a 4 day leisure trip. As first timers to Chile, the hotel served as a very nice home base. Rooms are very comfortable, though not huge (we booked a suite and were expecting more space, but it actually only had a little extra sitting space vs. a regular room). Club lounge service is definitely worth it and the food was very nice. Location is superb, and the pool on terrace is quite charming. The kids were also pampered and entertained with a few activities provided by the staff. There is a also very nice neighborhood playground within walking distance from the hotel (Plaza Peru), which our kids really loved.
like all Ritz Carlton hotels this one is excellent with good service, lovely public areas and guest rooms and staff that are a credit to the organisation. The staff in reception were of great help as were the those in the gift shop. Another pleasant and enjoyable stay in a Ritz Carlton hotel. This hotel is in a very pleasant area of the main financial district with good facilities for getting about.
Pool cleanliness: One nigh I was having mimosas at the pool, next morning you could tell that some had spilled on the floor the night before. I used the same spot for 3 days, I they didn’t cleaned the floor on all of does days. Pool service No service, as I mentioned before I spend 3 days at the pool, had lunch one day, mainly drinks. I can’t recall not even once that someone offered me a drink. Each time I wanted something I had to stand up and go find someone. Many time the pool bar had no one there and I had to go to the spa desk for help. The drinks fine. the food quality very average. Staff not seeing guests needs, chatting. FO - I reported I had lost a pair of sunglasses, might have been inside the hotel or not. The problem wasn’t loosing my sunglasses; it was, I reported this to FO and a security guy, to both I told I was going to be at the pool. I had no answer about this, no message at my room. On the next morning I had to ask again at the FO. Restaurant - had lunch the first day of my stay. It seemed as they had some corporate event. The reception was good, I had a table appointment promptly. My first order was a coffee and a glass of orange juice. I passed more than 10 m to receive it, had to ask for it once more. After this, I order a centolla salad and a glass of red. I received the salad before the wine glass, which I had to ask for it again. The lack of a supervisor was notorious. I stated my opinion on the survey with my bill. No one approached me on the rest of my stay about this.
Have been a regular visitor of Ritz Carlton Santiago for years and after every stay I complain about the price. Aged hotel that actually is under renovation. Definitely is the weakest contender in the El Golf sector after W and Intercontinental. Well, you can find more hotels in the area but not 5 stars. Anyway, hope that after full renovation, we can get more value for the money.... However, I have to be fair and mention that the service from the executive lounge personnel, front desk, concierge and bellboys (and girls) are excellent. Will see you again soon.....
first of all, the ritz is in a part of town that isn't overrun with graffiti. that alone makes this place a winner. on top of that, the staff is what makes the ritz a ritz. the physical building is beautiful. the interior is just as nice. but the greeting at the front desk makes you feel as if you've just come home (if your home was filled with rich wood paneling and plush seating surfaces.) At the front desk, we were greeted by Maiu (May-U), extremely professional, but warm, helpful and set the perfect tone for a relaxing stay. the metro station is about 100 yards from the front door of the hotel, so all of Santiago is about 15 minutes away from the hotel. it was easy to get to downtown, easy to get to the artisan village. it was also close to a luxury mall, but the metro did not have a stop there so an inexpensive taxi ride would suffice. just be aware of one thing, the metro ceases to run in the evening, so you may not be able to take the metro back to the hotel after an evening downtown where many of the restaurants are. back to the hotel. we upgraded to the club room, where we were able to relax, have some wine, tea sandwiches and other food. primarily, we upgraded because we had a later flight on our way back to the states and were able to stay in the club lounge after checking out until we left for the airport. again, the staff was so wonderful and marvelous and accommodating that we did not want to leave. let's talk the fitness facility. working out on a treadmill or elliptical stepper was akin to Bikram treadmill and Bikram elliptical. the room was open with a lot of glass on the top floor of the hotel, and it was HOT...really HOT. I am not sure there was air conditioning. the workout facilities overlooked the pool which looked refreshingly cool. there were locker facilities and I assume a spa. the locker facilities had showers, robes, sauna, steam room and was very relaxing, especially after having checked out of our room. we had a small suite and the room was cold...it was very hot outside, and the room more than made up for it by being cold. we turned up the thermostat to warm up, but even then, we were a tad chilly. the bed and comforters were magnificent. the Bathroom was luxurious (I mean, this is a ritz after all.) we did not try the restaurants at the hotel because we ate at the club lounge and in downtown Santiago. I loved this hotel. i'm not certain I would come back to Santiago, but because of this hotel and it's staff, I am having thoughts of returning just to stay here.
good location next door metro el golf very safe area to walk around rooms are very clean like a new room assistance was good. if i need something they really want to help with reservations at restaurants etc
