The staff was above and beyond. Best part of the hotel. The room was disappointing as there was nowhere to sit comfortably. No chairs, table or desk. Room refrigerator gurgled 24 hours a day. The pool was not heated. There is no parking so you have to valet your car every time you come and go. I don't mind tipping the valet but It kinda got old coming and going for 3 days. Again the staff was great.

Front desk staff was not overly nice or helpful. I am a lifetime Student Platinum member with Marriott and because I booked through Expedia they seemed less interested in helping me with securing a nice room even though there was low occupancy. My room was very average and would not stay here again it it was twice the price of other Marriott’s which is was the night we stayed.

The main building is fine and the restaurants are excellent. The location is good as well - walking distance to the historic center. However, the casitas that take the bulk of the guests need major renovation - the carpet should be replaced with tiles, and the bathrooms need to be enlarged and modernized.

We loved the old casita we stayed in, especially the fireplace which came with starter material. all of the windows looked out at others in a shared courtyard, so we didn't enjoy a lot of sunlight in the room, but we were mostly there to sleep. The coffee maker wasn't the most wonderful either, but fortunately there was coffee in the lobby. The Julia bar was great, as were the bartenders, appreciated separate areas for watching sports or just sitting by the fire. The keys we got at check in didn't work and had to be re-coded, the staff didn't know which bar was serving when, so we were escorted to one and then redirected to the other. The service at breakfast was very slow, ours was cold by the time it arrived and I just didn't eat mine; just FYI there is a limited menu for members' free breakfast. Highly recommend calling ahead for valet so you aren't left waiting to go out for a very long time while they service all of the cars coming in.

The hotel’s main advantage was its location. While the front desk and valet staff were excellent, housekeeping and restaurant/bar service left much to be desired. The restaurant isn’t worth dining at—there are far better and more affordable options in town with superior service. Staff, including their “manager,” seemed overwhelmed, and room cleaning was below standard. Toiletries were practically nonexistent, and I had to call each night just to get tea, as the rooms only provided coffee.
