Wonderful place. We loved it

The staff and hotel manager were great. We enjoyed the tour and history of the hotel. We also enjoyed the easy parking and complimentary beverages throughout our stay. Unfortunately the walls are paper thin and the people above us were very noisy throughout the night. It seemed as if they were having an after party in their hotel room. My husband was unable to sleep.

This was a lovely place to stay. The staff was so nice and the room was clean. They are the best and this is the best place to stay. I won't stay anywhere else from now on!

This is the best place to stay in Santa Cruz. Jeremy was so helpful and knowledgeable. The room was beautiful, the cleanliness was above par. We have found a new place to stay when we go to Santa Cruz from now on.

These cute suites were exactly what my girlfriend and I were looking for during our short stay in Santa Cruz. Our room was unique and well equipped for a charming night in. The ease of access was also a real benefit for out late arrival. Would definitely recommend!

The hotel was in a historic Victorian building, which was quite charming. The neighborhood was quiet and residential, though only a 10 minute walk to the center of Santa Cruz

Staff was fantastic. Excellent location. Room overall was a clean. A few areas here and there that could’ve been cleaner. I will be back in the future.

The location was excellent, close walking to Boardwalk, Wharf and Downtown. Only downside was the squeaky mattress in room 17. Really bad! If you get 17, ask to change rooms. The staff were great!!

The room was perfect! Loved the fireplace heater, jet tub and full length mirror. The view from the window was magic. Location, perfect. My only complaint is that there were too many remote controls and it was a bit noisy from trucks, cars, guest coming/leaving.

Wow awesome place to stay. Very close to the boardwalk and downtown ... walking distance. We had a great time during our stay at Santa Cruz. Plus free parking and internet. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Close to wharf and downtown. Spacious room and bathroom. Very minimal parking. Lots of street noise. No food service. Didn't empty room trash during our 4 day stay.

The building is an attractive Victorian building but they are very deceptive with their bookings via Orbitz. When we arrived they tried to put us in an unattractive building next door with rooms. After complaining, the receptionist said she’d call the manager as she said there were no rooms in Rio Vista Suites. Suddenly without even the call two rooms became available based on other reviews I can now see these are kept for people who complain. We took room 2 next to reception. The mat was dirty, the walls dirty and the shutter at the window unable to close due to a portable air conditioner placed there. There was a promise on the Orbitz booking for breakfast that doesn’t exist. Not recommended for the price AT ALL!

The location is good - walkable to the boardwalk and some other things. But it's hard to find the parking lot based on the address, and none of the advance communications I received indicated where we were supposed to park. We just happened upon it by chance. The room was comfortable and mostly clean, but there was a fairly large cobweb in one corner of the bathroom. Also, the toilet didn't work when we checked in, but maintenance fixed it shortly thereafter. The staff was all friendly, and the property is in reasonably good repair. It's not anything special, but it's definitely good enough for the price.

The hotel is clean, modern, comfortable. I was able to get to Depot Park and beach easily via walking. I had top corner room with view of river and bike trail. Only downside was the noise, however I would return.

The hotel is in a very nice location. Near both shopping and the boardwalk. The notion that this is a luxury hotel is a little disturbing. The room was very load!! if anybody is talking in the building you can hear it and if you have a downstairs room it is impossible to sleep through somebody walking above you. The breakfast is okay. I think somebody just went to costco and bought a bunch of bagels and pastries. It is much nicer than the hotels much closer to the boardwalk, but not great. There is no staff on the premises after 10 PM. I think they charge for luxury, but don't offer it. The shower is part of the bedroom. It is a large plastic enclosure that is very uncomfortable!!

Enjoyable. Quaint. Close to beach and downtown area.
