No table in my room. No counter by the sink. Not much room to hang clothes. Ambient music too loud— particularly in the dining room. No breakfast on weekday.. No complimentary coffee on Monday. Staff were positive and helpful.

The property was all decked out in a surfer/60's theme. I wasn't necessarily looking for anything like that, but they did a nice job of pulling it of, including a retro-looking turntable and a few 60's LPs in the room. The one thing I wasn't a fan of is the fully stocked fridge and snacks on the counter, all of which have a hefty price tag (very small water $4, 1L bottle $6, or a couple of candy bars @ $5 each)

bathroom sink smelled of sewer, I did report this and it was fixed. Shower head was broken (water just trickling out) on the last morning we were there. overall very nice place, probably needs a little more upgrading.

Quirky and fun place. Nicely idiosyncratic. Liked the normal Kimpton stuff like happy hour

The property was old, but I could tell they had fixed it up to look nicer. The pool was nice, but there was no jacuzzi. Also, there were no towels to dry off at the pool. The staff was not real attentive to the things I asked for. When I asked about getting a roll-away bed, they never got back to me on my request. I had to contact the office to get my question answered. When I asked for an extra pillow, they again did not get back to me, I had to contact the office again to get my extra pillow. In the bathroom there were no individual bottles of shampoo and conditioner. There were large bottles that everyone had to "share". Also, I did not like the hard wood floors. i guess they put them in, because the hotel is "pet friendly".

It was great. The heater was pretty loud so I didn’t sleep as well as I hoped but it was fine. Overall it was great! I love Kimpton properties. The wine hour and appetizer was delicious.

Older hotel, but the chic vibe made worth the stay.

Great value for the area; excellent staff and pool area.

It’s a motel designed hotel, you have to drive to your room! Breakfast during the week is only very limited and I wouldn’t recommend it at all. Staff is not very helpful and caring. I had mold in my firstborn room, changed it to a room with almost no water pressure, changed again with no difference and no one caring about it. It’s not a „real“ Kimpton and not worth the money. Restaurant closes during the week at 9pm - it’s ridiculous. I’d recommend the Best Western Plus next door or the Hampton Inn if you don’t have to be in that particular area.

I booked this hotel for one of my stops in California trip because it was recommended on Travel and Leisure magazine as a classic surfers hotel with great amenities and awesome food. In reality it was far from that. Rooms were small, with a motel feel, laminate floors that were not moped, I could see shoe prints all over the floor to the bathroom. Shower was tiny and the shower curtain was placed in a way that gave you no space to move. Dirty hallways, small pool in the backyard, no TV screens, only in the summer, food and drinks were mediocre at both bars for the price. Ambiance was simple and dark, but we enjoyed the backgammon games offered in the lobby. Location was good, being near some small cafes and breakfast restaurants. I would not return to this hotel for the price I paid. It is same as a Motel 6 with a nice lobby.

This was our second time at the Goodland. It’s our go-to for Santa Barbara surf trips. Great service and vibe.

Nice staff, but facility did not match Kimpton brand or 4-Star rating. Minor updates to an old run down motel.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. The hotel has a cool style and plenty of Instagram-worthy details. The bar/restaurant and pool were great. But the rooms leave a lot to be desired. At first, you walk in and they look cool, you have a record player and some records, the furniture is unique, the bed is pretty good but it doesn't feel clean. There were a few hairs from the last guest in our shower and while accidents happen, it's a gross feeling. Also, having giant shampoo/conditioner/body wash containers that are used by many guests is VERY GROSS. The one biggest knock was how loud the air conditioner was. I don't even know how to describe the weird sounds it was making but it made sleeping pretty difficult. It sounded like horror film sound effects were playing all night. It's not a bad hotel, it's just not focused in the right places. I'll take a clean room with clean furniture over a funky lobby any day.

We stay at the Kimpton in Savannah often and we were very excited to stay at the Goodland. My 21 and 23 yr old girls are huge fans of the Hotel Chain because it is unique. What I loved about it was that they took an old motel and made it hip (if that is the right word). They could have bulldozed the hotel and made a new and typical hotel but they took the charm of the past and allowed us to experience a time long gone. Some reviews said they just an old hotel with new furniture but that is the charm..... That is what we love about the Kimpton Chain. My girls had a great time playing records in our room (they had to learn how to work a record player ) and having drinks by the pool. Plus the location was wonderful... walking distance good restaurants (not super fancy but nice) and minutes from the airport which was important considering our flight times. We will continue to search out Kimpton hotels in what ever city we travel.

I think this is a really cool hotel, and don't let this review be your only review. The rooms were in high demand this season. I got two rooms, one was really nice, well renovated. The second time I rented in the same week, the next room was really run down. The bed squeaked and was difficult to sleep on. The door doesn't close all the way and looked as though it was kicked in at one point, as light shone through around all it's edges and was bent. Even the bar lock was missing on the door (again because I thought it was kicked in). To my surprise a guy who was really drunk woke me up in the morning asking if he could come in and sleep with me (which is outside of the hotel's control I know) and had me wanting a better door. Then my room wasn't furnished like the others. I was hoping to get work done and was able to in another room with a table. My room had no table. I asked the front desk for the furniture, and only a table was brought with no chair. I also think the latter room was a handicapped accessible room. The vanity and tub were very poor, good for wheel chairs, but I was left thinking that folks in wheel chairs like a nice bathroom too and that the renovation of this room could have been done better. I'd only recommend this hotel for slower season unless you want to gambit getting one of the better rooms. The room I got can be found down the road for 1/4 the price.
