Kimpton Goodland

4.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Nice staff, but facility did not match Kimpton brand or 4-Star rating. Minor updates to an old run down motel.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. The hotel has a cool style and plenty of Instagram-worthy details. The bar/restaurant and pool were great. But the rooms leave a lot to be desired. At first, you walk in and they look cool, you have a record player and some records, the furniture is unique, the bed is pretty good but it doesn't feel clean. There were a few hairs from the last guest in our shower and while accidents happen, it's a gross feeling. Also, having giant shampoo/conditioner/body wash containers that are used by many guests is VERY GROSS. The one biggest knock was how loud the air conditioner was. I don't even know how to describe the weird sounds it was making but it made sleeping pretty difficult. It sounded like horror film sound effects were playing all night. It's not a bad hotel, it's just not focused in the right places. I'll take a clean room with clean furniture over a funky lobby any day.

We stay at the Kimpton in Savannah often and we were very excited to stay at the Goodland. My 21 and 23 yr old girls are huge fans of the Hotel Chain because it is unique. What I loved about it was that they took an old motel and made it hip (if that is the right word). They could have bulldozed the hotel and made a new and typical hotel but they took the charm of the past and allowed us to experience a time long gone. Some reviews said they just an old hotel with new furniture but that is the charm..... That is what we love about the Kimpton Chain. My girls had a great time playing records in our room (they had to learn how to work a record player ) and having drinks by the pool. Plus the location was wonderful... walking distance good restaurants (not super fancy but nice) and minutes from the airport which was important considering our flight times. We will continue to search out Kimpton hotels in what ever city we travel.

I think this is a really cool hotel, and don't let this review be your only review. The rooms were in high demand this season. I got two rooms, one was really nice, well renovated. The second time I rented in the same week, the next room was really run down. The bed squeaked and was difficult to sleep on. The door doesn't close all the way and looked as though it was kicked in at one point, as light shone through around all it's edges and was bent. Even the bar lock was missing on the door (again because I thought it was kicked in). To my surprise a guy who was really drunk woke me up in the morning asking if he could come in and sleep with me (which is outside of the hotel's control I know) and had me wanting a better door. Then my room wasn't furnished like the others. I was hoping to get work done and was able to in another room with a table. My room had no table. I asked the front desk for the furniture, and only a table was brought with no chair. I also think the latter room was a handicapped accessible room. The vanity and tub were very poor, good for wheel chairs, but I was left thinking that folks in wheel chairs like a nice bathroom too and that the renovation of this room could have been done better. I'd only recommend this hotel for slower season unless you want to gambit getting one of the better rooms. The room I got can be found down the road for 1/4 the price.

We really only stayed to eat dinner and sleep. Had a gymnastics meet the next day at 7am! Hotel plus: very convenient to the university. Customer service was above and beyond from the check in, to the hostess accommodating 11 people on a Saturday with no reservation. The waiter was awesome as well as the maintenance person who came at 10:30pm to try to fix the deadbolt on the door.

Perhaps this is more fun on a weekend however we arrived Sunday for a short stay. Americana theme even with a little record player and albums (no needed though...). Nice decor but floors were gritty around bathroom. Nice large bottle toiletries, warm robes but low water pressure. Central pool area is nice but no hot tub. Worst issue was no full breakfast on weekday mornings. Only on the weekends. Only grab and go type of stuff.

The grounds of the hotel were lovely. The restaurant and bar offered good food and drink. The staff was attentive. The decor was amazing. The room was the remnant of the old motel in size, which wouldn't be such a problem, but there was no closet to hang anything. The shower was rectangular with the shower head mounted on the long wall shooting straight at the shower curtain. This meant that no matter how you tried the shower resulted in a major flood of the entire bathroom because there was no means of containing the water.

Overall, the stay was disappointing. It took two changes of rooms beforeone where the TV worked. Very trendy decor with nostalgic records and players, but the rooms felt small and cramped. Upon checkout was charged a resort fee which I was not told about in advance, and refused to pay. I wouldn't stay there again.

When I checked in I was given a room key to a room that already had guests in it so that was awkward when I opened the door. They then gave me a room a few doors down. The room wasn't anything special and the carpet had major stains on it. It wasn't anything the hard-wood floors which are displayed so prominently on their web site. In addition, they also add on a resort fee which extremely silly for a place that had previously been a Holiday Inn. They slapped on a some minor updates and opened for business. It wasn't horrible but don't expect anything special.

This is really an overpriced motel. It was the only vacancy within 40 miles of where I needed to be so I ended up staying here out of necessity. The worst part was that the room had "see-through" curtains, so people were constantly walking by and looking in the room.

Enjoyed our stay here- would stay again- kids enjoyed also

This is a "Motel" not a hotel under remodeling; No business center, No closets in room, No continental breakfast, free coffee, that's all. Rooms were clean, people were friendly; definitely NOT a hotel or 4 stars; I'd rate it as a 3 star motel
