We stayed in the Annex across the street from the main hotel. It is modern, large rooms, and all the conveniences. The breakfast room is in the main hotel but close enough. Front desk was a little stiff - had to push to get the Rick Steves discount for our full party (3 rooms) but they relented. The breakfast was excellent but there's a theme with more European hotels with a breakfast option - all extensive buffet to meet all appetites. I was able to make a sandwich from the breads/meats/cheeses to take away for a mid-day snack. The parking is way away from the hotel and is expensive. You do not need a car within Salzburg - everything is walkable with the old city just a 2 block walk from the hotel.
The hotel is a very nice. A couple of good things about the hotel include: the customer service, the pool, and the sauna. Now to the bad which is their is no air condition and the rooms are small. They give you a fan in the room but when me and my husband stayed it was during the summer months. I can't say much for the hotel because we only stayed one night which I was happy about because I don't like to be comfortable sleeping.
We stayed in one of the suites in the residence across the street from the main building. This was perfect for our family of 3. We were fortunate to have air conditioning in this room. The room itself is spacious with a main living area, a lofted area with a bed and two bathrooms. The hotel is a quick walk from the old town area although the immediate area is just as nice as the old town. Because we were on the top floor, we had a good view of the city. The hotel is located close to a church so the sound of church bells was a welcome way to wake up in the morning, (although our teen daughter did not necessarily appreciate it as much). The staff was friendly and breakfast was plentiful. We loved Salzburg and hope to return. We will definitely consider staying here again.
Excellent reception staff. Could not do enough for me. Pool was lovely. The breakfast had one of the best buffet on my travels. This is a lovely boutique hotel in Salzburg in the centre of town. Only thing is that there was no air condition in my room and the shower was so small, but that might have been because I only had a single bedroom. Would stay there again.
Excellent hotel! We enjoyed our recent stay whilst in Salzburg. This hotel has an excellent location in a quiet area yet only a few minutes walk from the centre. We enjoyed use of the swimming pool every day. Breakfasts were delicious with a good choice of fresh food and the staff were very obliging. We were very lucky to have good weather during our stay, almost too hot, and so the only thing we missed was air conditioning, however the hotel did provide two large fans in our room. We hope to return next year!
We stayed in one of the family rooms in the main building. The room was nice and it was fantastic to have a separate area for the children to sleep in (which we could close the door to in the evening). The staff were brilliant, particularly one of the ladies at breakfast who was great with the children. We all loved the breakfast - the children were thrilled to have smoked salmon every morning as well as loads of other delicious options (cold meats and cheese, rolls, croissants, pain au chocolate, bacon, scrambled eggs, fruit juices, fruit salad, cereals, cake etc). Location was good and we weren't disturbed by street noise (apart from the church bells ringing - but I think everyone in Salzburg must be able to hear them!) We also enjoyed the hotel swimming pool - it was only our family there on the time we tried it. You can book tours at the front desk but we had already booked our Sound of Music tour by the time we arrived. We borrowed a Sound of Music DVD from reception - they seemed to have a large collection of DVDs, not just Sound of Music! The only negative point was that the room didn't have air-conditioning, but the large fans provided were pretty good. I would definitely recommend this hotel!
We visited with another couple, shared 2 bedroom apartment suite with multiple levels, rooftop terraces, and private sauna. Apartment was so nice, we wished we could have spent more time enjoying it. With a full equipped kitchen and dining area, we brought some food and wine in to enjoy the quiet terrace in the evening. Two chamois grazed just feet above our terrace one evening, paying little attention to us.
The entire building is hot, stuffy, and uncomfortable. The staff was unapologetic, bordering on rude. My wife and I were disappointed. No sleep in the sweltering room. I expect these conditions in underdeveloped, poor countries, but hardly in Austria. If the management isn't embarrassed by this place, they should be. It's a rotten deal. Do yourself a favor, don't make our mistake, and stay somewhere else. I truly feel we've been ripped off.
Hotel is in a good location for walking into old town and surrounding neighborhoods. Room was small but adequate, nice bathroom, though shower odd! Evening desk staff very helpful and much more engaging than day crew, very accommodating. Breakfast & staff were delightful! Parking garage about 2 blocks away and easy load/ unload in front of property.
We have just enjoyed 3 nights at Hotel Wolf Dietrich. We'd come back for sure. It is really well located close to Salzburg's attractions and there is a multitude of restaurants, cafes and bars within strolling distance. The breakfast buffet was well supplied and set us up for a day of exploring this beautiful city.
