Hotel is in a good part of town, next to sea face, sea is bit rocky here, swimming in sea is not recommended. Boating is available, 2 pools are there for kids and adults. A nice restaurant on the sea shore, hotel is on s steep slope up which also has a restaurant but with limited menu. Rooms are good, choose sea facing for a great view across the bay.
We changed two rooms in our three night stay and there was no chance to get better. The hotel is well situated but the rooms looks like from a Vintage film, everything is old, broken and not working, bathroom have no hot water, had to change the room, doors are scratched etc. There s not wi-fi connections inside te rooms and the pay one is poor and does not arrive to the bed! There are giant noisy motors of air conditioner on the runway, working 24hours that makes looks like you are sleeping inside of a metallic industry. Workers have been always positive and tried to help but the place needs to be fixed.
Can't imagine how such a hotel could even be open. The whole thing is falling apart, bad pillows, bad towels, crappy bathroom. Food is terrible. Would never come back. No way this is a four star hotel.
This hotel was a good looking hotel a couple of years ago, but now it looks older and unkempt. Still you have a good located Hotel, with the beach and a lot of restaurant near you. In case you don't want to go out, you have the possibility to chill out at the 'MahiMahi'. That's a private pier, where you can jump in to the water. You'll also find a restaurant and a pool there. The breakfast is not the best, but also not the worst. For one or two days is enough, but longer you'll realize there is always the same thing. The room is spacious, the bed comfortable. I had a room to the street, and it wasn't so loud as a thought, but of course the upper rooms are better. We needed to leave our stuff there for one week, and they kept it save for us. I arrived at the hotel at 1am on a Friday night after a hard week travelling around Brazil and a long flight up to Salvador. The lady on reception was friendly enough, but when I got to my room it smelled as if there was a dead animal in the air conditioning system and the whole room was dirty, old and falling to pieces (the fridge door, for example, was rusty and the toilet seat was filthy). I asked for another room and was given one that was just as disgusting and dirty, but with an aircon fan that was buzzing so loudly I couldn't hear myself think. When I went to open the window instead, it was only connected by one hinge and I had to literally hold on to it to stop it falling 23 floors into the terrace below. Oh, and to get to the rooms you have to take a lift that hums, vibrates and shakes as if it's about to fail at any moment, and then walk down a dark corridor because the motion sensors for the lights don't work properly. For the first time in my life, I walked out of a hotel in the middle of the night, having already paid for the reservation (well my company did, actually) and went somewhere else. Seriously, DO NOT STAY HERE.
Stayed 2 nights on a business trip. reception was unfriendly, uninterested. There is lots of personnel around in this Hotel, but they are apparently not well managed. I have never seen so many unfriendly, unskilled and uninterested staff around in a Hotel in Brazil. Not only the reception, but also in the restaurant, the run-down terrace restaurant near the bay, as well as house-keeping, ugh! Maintenance standard of the hotel in general and the room in particular is appaling. Breakfast was very poor, even for Brazilian standards. Dinner in the restaurant same story.., how to waste a nice piece of picanha.... The cable car to the terrace restaurant near the water was out of order and probably will be forever. There were 5 staff "working" there with only 2 tables occupied in the afternoon, but it took ages to get some attention to place an order. 1 star only, and that is only because i am in a good mood today. Never again!
I am normally left sad by the General lack of care and sullenness of staff in the Brasilian Service Industry but this establishment is winning hands down for arrogance. I have just checked out of the Hotel which was on my companies account and below is abstracts of the conversation which I have sent to the company in order to make a complaint to their management. On checkout there were two receptionists, the one I dealt with was the worst, conversation like this Her- You Pay (presented total invoice) Me- I only need to sign Her - No you pay I telephoned the company and during conversation she said You sign Me - you mean, you sign please Her - Sign please, invoice thrown across desk. Her - you pay extras Me - you pay extras please Her - you pay I paid and told her she was rude and ignorant. She swore in Portuguese to her colleague. I am a Portuguese speaker and her words were insulting. There does seem to be a staff problem throughout the Hotel, all of the female employees are surly to the point of rudeness. At the breakfast buffet most items are run out and it is necessary to watch trays arriving and then return one by one to get each item. All in all a Great location wasted, fittings and furnishings tired and Staff awful.
Stayed here for a night in November '14. The hotel must have seen better days. There's an urgent need of renovation. The worst decision they took was to install motion activated lights which are at such a distance apart that I had to walk to a few rooms next to mine to get enough light to open my room. The lobby was real dark and didn't look welcoming at all. Wifi was free in lobby and paid inside rooms. The hotel had a nice bar overlooking Bahia de Todos os Santos. The restaurant was quite small with very basic decor and ambience. The choice of menu and cocktails was nice but the service was slow. Porto da Barra, the most popular beach of Salvador, was some 20 mins. walk from the hotel.
... it may have been a great hotel, back in the day.... Nowadays it is an old, asking for renovation hotel. The furniture is well worn in need for replacement and the bathroom is dingy . However, if you are using the place just to sleep while visiting the sites. It is a good option considering the price, the location and the views. The views from the bedroom, restaurant and breakfast bar are wonderful!!!! The breakfast itself is great, specially if you like baiana food. Despite of the great variety you can ask for something else you wish that is not on the breakfast buffet. Great service at the breakfast bar. It is located only a short cab ride to Farol da Barra, Mercado Modelo, Pelourinho and all the main landmarks in Salvador.
When you arrive (even late at night) people at the front desk receive you very friendly. However, the hotel has seen better times (in the eighties probably). The rooms are spacious and clean. However, some installations are not properly working. The terrace, where the breakfast takes place offers a splendid view on the sea. There is a spectacular access to the sea though a cable car.
