Great family stay

We stayed here while our home was being repaired following a flood. The staff are excellent and the rooms are ideal. We requested a change for the last few nights to accommodate our grandchildren in adjoinjng rooms. This was no problem.

On arrival we were told the 2 rooms we booked were no longer acc bc bailable, one of which was accessible Apparently a ‘regular’ customer had requested it so we were then moved to the 4th floor even though we had booked at least 8 weeks in advance The room was a twin with 6 inches between the beds and very little room to move around, our friend was relocated to a double room with 2 doubles(1 bed setter) and again very little room which had a strong smell of the drains! (Room 430) Payment was not taken on check in so I assumed they would want payment on leaving but instead the money was taken before I woke for breakfast on Sunday morning. As I had booked for my friend she was paying for the second room and I have now been charged by my bank for being overdrawn and the payment declined. I have stayed at this hotel many times but was sorely disappointed on this occasion

Disappointing, tired and just no quality & COLD.

Heating in the room was terrible and couldnt be controlled easily. Radiator was off most the night (seemingly controlled centrally or on timers) so freezing cold even with the horrible hot air heater on maximum when the radiators came on the room went from freezing to uncomfortably warm. Food is very overpriced and not good. It's crazy delivery food is far cheaper with delivery apps for large meals for the same price as a single main meal. Seems to be mostly for trade and so the car park can be a bit of a nightmare with all the vans or oversized vehicles in a tight car park. Managed to get parked every night but it was not full. The general cleanliness was questionable too, my tea cup had lipstick on it so clearly not swapped out and just wiped over or rinsed out between guests. The bathroom had a few stray hairs too in the corners of the shower. Iron shot out that horrible white limescale too so had to iron using a spare tshirt to stop it marking the clothes I wanted to wear, so this need some attention too.

I didn’t like that the bucket seats in the lounge were worn and unsafe (very shaky feet). Reception staff were excellent, but bar staff took about 5 minutes to serve me and had no one in the bar.

We have half board book. Breakfast was pretty basic but you still have chance to choose something. Dinner was absolutely awful,still half frozen and taste disgusting. Over Christmas was the same dinner each night,on the end we ended up having dinners outside because we could get food poisoning
