The hotel is very conveniently located in the middle of old town , but getting there by car is not easy because of narrow one way streets. It's good to make reservation for parking in the garage located 50 m. from the main building of the hotel. The staff is helpful and friendly ,English speaking. We were given clear information from the hotel receptionist where is the garage and the hotel valet helped us with our luggage and parking the car.No communications problems at all.We had a very nice ,clean and spacious attic room. There was no air con in the room, not necessary in the autumn. No mini bar in the room,wi-fi strenght signal quite O.K. There were 2 bottles of mineral water in the room, but beware - they are not complimentary. The mineral water was warm because there is no refrigerator in the room. The bathroom was modern ,small and well appointed, but the decorator decided to be "modern" and the bathroom has frosted glass sliding door which couldn't be fully closed (see pictures, please) not giving you the privacy. The breakfast was served in the spacious restaurant with very good food with fresh local products. Our stay in the hotel was very pleasant ,location is wonderful ,all points of interest are within walking distance. The Hotel itself s beautiful with a lot of hand made wrought iron details and comfortable furniture.
Excellent staff, location, bar and restaurant, in a very romantic medieval city, private parking. We just missed a bidet in the bathroom. Rooms are not so large, but are very confortable. Prices in the restaurant could be more razonable.
In selecting this hotel I was looking for an old world lodging experience fitting of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The Hotel Reichskuchenmeister hit the mark and then some. Great location close to the Market Square and shopping. Very nice and spacious suite. Friendly helpful staff. Had a great evening dining experience in the restaurant. Just wish we could have stayed longer.
Loved this hotel...in the center of Rothenburg...updated rooms very nice...good food..nice beer garden...charming bar area....very comfortable stay...does have a elevator in the main part of hotel...would love to stay here again!
For more than 25 years, we have returned to the Hotel Reichs-Kuchenmeister both on business trips and family vacations. Now recently renovated, the rooms have all new furniture, guaranteeing you a comfortable night's rest. The chef serves up regional specialties that are comfort food with a special presentation. The staff is welcoming and helpful. The location is second to none in Rothenburg, with convenient car parking nearby and just steps from the city square. The outdoor wine garden is the perfect place to enjoy a quiet hour overlooking beautiful St. Jakob's Kirche with it's spectacular Tillman-Riemanschneider alter.
Great rooms. Great service. Great restaurant. Great wine bar. Charming building. We absolutely loved this hotel. And this town is quite possibly the most charming town in the entire world. We thought we were walking around a movie set. So glad we chose to visit here. Again the hotel was just as charming as the rest of the town. Wish I could go back ASAP.
I wanted a hotel close to the iconic photographic spot of the two gates leading into the old town. The hotel is very central and within easy walking distance to any of the scenic sport in Rothenburg. We traveled by can, and to negotiate the narrow streets of Rothenburg can be very tricky. Very nice hotel, clean and well appointed rooms, friendly staff and a very good breakfast.
Not good things: We arrived by car and entered through the restaurant, which is not the easiest when you have several pieces of luggage (our fault, but having signs help). At aprox 4pm, it took a good 10-15min for the receptionist (the only one working it seemed) to welcome us. After a weak exchange we waited another few minutes for the man guiding us to the garage and rooms. Unfortunately he does not speak english, and we were constantly following short and unclear directions, making us feel rather stupid. We were given a room in an annexe building, not in the cute old building you see in the main photos. Don't think I would have paid the money I paid had I known that. One of us (1 of 4) had not joined due to illness. I mentioned this but there was no understanding. He only referred to the fact that Booking.com charged them the same fees. Reducing the booking price or giving something little extra in return was not even considered (a bottle of wine? A glass of wine at the restaurant!? Maybe one day free parking?.... Pricing Psychology!!) Internet WIFI was very poor across restaurant and rooms. It did not work at all in level 6 (rooms 30, etc). Room 30 smells badly of old/closed, and it is not a matter of opening the windows for half a day (I tried that). There was not even a courtesy bottle of water in the room. We went for a drink in the restaurant and there was a tall waiter that was always rushed and you could barely think or get any suggestions from him. Unfortunately we had to deal with him more than once. Good things: Great location! It is definitely a very cute and well maintained place. The rooms were very spacious and tastefully decorated. Good temperature in the rooms. Most staff were friendly (especially the younger lady and the man during breakfast). Restaurant food is good and good drink selection (but no good wine menu)!
This hotel is located in the very center of Rothenburg. Its a lovely building. One fun fact is the door knob to open the elevator. The rooms are confortable, and with a good size. The only point I didn't like was the shower, since it is located in the bathtub and the walls of the tub were very high, that makes a little dangerous to exit the shower.
Excellent location, right in the heart of the town. All the attractions are within walking distance. Don't miss the night watcher tour and Erich Trumpp KG(sausage shop). If you have plenty of time, take a walk along the wall.
