Parco dei Principi Grand Hotel & SPA5.0 out of 5.0

This gorgeously appointed hotel with its indoor and outdoor 25 meter pools was an ideal refuge from the heat of August. Its location opposite Villa Borghese Park, in a quiet residential neighborhood, makes it an oasis of calm in tourist-filled Rome. The view across endless acres of Parasol Pines toward St. Peter's is lovely, especially at night when the basilica is illuminated. At dusk, occasional calls of exotic birds from the aviary in the zoo next door were a charming surprise. My husband and I dined at all of the restaurants. The breakfast buffet is truly outstanding with an endless variety of baked goods, fresh fruits, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, meats, cheeses, Prosecco and other delights served in an elegant dining room or on the peaceful outdoor terrace facing their large garden. The service is outstanding here, as it is throughout the hotel. The spa and fitness center are luxurious and well equipped. The rooms are sumptuously decorated with comfortable beds, good lighting and an easy chair. The hotel is a 12 euro taxi ride from the center of Rome but well worth it for the sense of calm which pervades the Parco dei Principi. Don't forget to make advance reservations to visit the Villa Borghese which is a five minute walk away.
Booked this hotel through Expedia as although it was a mile from the centre it had an outdoor pool. Thought it would be nice for a quick dip before or after our days out and about. We arrived by the pool on the first day about 4pm and were asked to leave as we had booked 'cheaply'. This meant that every time we wanted to use the pool we would incur a charge of 36 euros! We explained we had no idea of this charge and as it was so late in the day could they waive it as a goodwill gesture. It would have cost them nothing and not ruined our first day but no way would they budge! They actually just didn't care and made us feel like we shouldn't be there. Eventually they said they would get the spa manager to call us but of course he never did. The best thing about the hotel were the cleaning staff who were friendly and smiley. Actually they should be behind reception desk! It's a luxurious hotel but don't expect any service or kindness ...and beware hidden charges.
One of the most wonderful trips I have made to Rome. This is the second time I have stayed at the Parco dei Principi and like before it totally fulfilled my expectations and more. A wonderful hotel with super friendly and attentive staff. Breakfast staff were exceptionally helpful. This is a great hotel to get away from the crowds in the city once you are finished sightseeing and take a relaxing dip in the pool or drink or two at the bar. Walk out the front door of the hotel and you're in the Borghese gardens which are beautiful and walk through these to get to the centre of Rome. Approx 15 mins... a very convenient hotel for all places of interest. I will be returning again.
We loved this hotel. Situated in a peaceful area within walking distance of the all the main attractions of Rome. The walk via the adjoining park is very pleasant indeed. The hotel rooms a very comfortable and quiet. The outside pool and spa facilities are first class.
This hotel accurately reflects on the website and all the travel brochures. It is definitely a 5 star experience. The food is lovely, the place itself is very opulent, the rooms are extremely comfortable, cleanliness is perfect and the service is first class (with special mention to Danielo on the bar who it was a pleasure to meet). Thanks.
My daughter and I arrived for a 4 night city break and could not have received a more welcoming reception. Checking in was swift and efficient. Shortly after settling into our room we were welcomed by a tap at the door and complimentary bottle of bubbly and an array of biscuit delicacies. Not sure if this is to be expected or as a result of our trip to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday. Either way it was a lovely touch and very much appreciated. Room was spacious and bathroom spotlessly clean. I have never stayed in a hotel where there has been no room noise from adjoining rooms or noise from people walking down the corridor. We were positioned on the first floor overlooking the pool area and it was so peaceful, very good nights sleep every night. Very surprised to have read some reviews criticising some of the staff - our experience was very different. From reception staff to maître de to waiting staff couldn't have expected better service. Helpful, welcoming and breakfast staff particularly efficient. The Spa was absolutely gorgeous and again staff in the Spa very welcoming and professional. We used the Spa on 2 occasions and experienced massage treatments on day 2 (booked in advance) which we enjoyed immensely. The Spa is probably one of the most aesthetically pleasing I have experienced. The outdoor pool was a welcome addition and was it lovely to have somewhere to relax and cool off after busy and site seeing activities. I believe there is sometimes a charge for the pool and Spa however this was included in our package so not something that was a concern for us. We mainly used public transport (trams and buses nearby) to access the tourist sites - you could walk through the Borghese Villa gardens (right next to the hotel) to reach the Spanish Steps area, which takes about 25 mins. All in all we were very impressed and would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone not wanting to be right in the centre of the City.
We stayed three nights at the Grand Hotel Parco dei Principi next to the Villa Borghese Park. It was outstanding. Rome is a busy, noisy, crowded city, but the hotel was truly a calm, cool, quiet oasis. We had a little balcony, and even so the room was silent. We were sheltered from noise not only from outside but also from the hallway, as the carpets are thick, and in addition to the solid room door, there was another solid door between the closets and bathroom area and the bedroom. The room decor was elegant, with gleaming lacquered walls, elegant furniture and closets, comfortable bed, and beautiful bathroom. The hotel lobby was comfortable with stylish decor. The buffet breakfast every morning was very good, quite varied, with pots of coffee and hot milk on the table if requested. We had a snack in the bar the first night but otherwise didn't eat in the restaurant. The morning we left for the airport, we received box lunches. Visiting Rome is at least a 15-hour-per day project, so we appreciated the serenity of this hotel.
My family and I stayed here for a family vacation to Rome. The hotel is beautiful on the inside and the staff was very nice. The pool and amenities were great. The location is quiet and requires a cab to get to much of anything.
I stayed at this property for one night in transit to Greece from Croatia. Upon arrival I was greeted by the bel staff who took my luggage. Check-in was seamless. The person at the front desk greeted me with a smile and then had the bel man walk me up to my room. The lobby and halls of the hotel are beautiful in an old world style. There are lovely oil paintings on the walls in the hallways. The outdoor pool area looked quite nice, but I didn't have an opportunity to use it during my short stay. The bed in the room was comfortable. My room featured a small balcony with nice views of Rome. The bathroom was fantastic. It was large with a soaking tub. The shower had excellent water pressure. I had the opportunity to use the wonderful spa and fitness center during my stay. The spa features and indoor lap pool, several different water features including powerful jet massage, which was like a turbo powered hot tub. You grab bars behind the jets and move yourself for a nice water massage. There were other water features including waterfalls, rotating underwater jets and cold / hot plunge pools. The spa had a nice steam room and sauna as well. The fitness center was truly amazing. It is hands down the nicest hotel fitness center I've ever seen. The gym is huge. It features the latest technogym cardio equipment and weight machines. They have a wide range of free weights, a full boxing gym, a studio for group classes and personal trainers on staff. Behind the gym is a full smoothie bar for protein shakes. They even have a vending machine stocked with protein bars. Breakfast at the hotel was included in my rate and very good. They had an assortment of low fat options, which is appreciated. The hotel is a bit of a hike from tourist attractions, but it's a short cab or uber ride away. I highly recommend this property for anyone visiting Rome who wants to take advantage of the wonderful amenities.
This has been our fourth stay over the last three years.Others have commented in the past about standards at reception, problems with air conditioning etc. There were absolutely no problems for us on this occasion. All staff were friendly and extremely helpful and we intend to return next June for a longer stay.
