My Wife, Mother-in-law stayed at Hotel Santa Maria for 2 nights October 11th & 12th and I can't say enough about this hotel. It is located in a perfect spot for restaurants, bars and nightlife in the heart of Tresterverdie. The one thing that was so surprising was how you could be so close to the action, but once you walked into the hotel you felt like you were in some country garden. It was so quite and peaceful enjoying a bottle of wine while sitting in their beautiful courtyard. The breakfast that was included with the room was great and they had the best coffee I had in Italy. This was our first time at Hotel Santa Maria, but I assure you it isn't our last. We enjoy traveling to Italy and plan on continuing to travel through Rome and Hotel Santa Maria will always be our hotel for part of our stay.

This hotel is wonderfully located in the heart of Trastevere. The staff and location are the definite stars of this hotel. I was traveling solo this trip and felt completely safe at all times. I stayed in a standard double room. The room was a good size, nicely decorated and had everything I needed. I really appreciated the water fountain right outside my room for easy filling of my water bottle. The breakfast was very nice. The courtyard is lovely and I enjoyed a glass of wine and happy hour snacks each evening. Another thing I really liked was the rooftop terrace. There are a few sun loungers up there for relaxing. This is a very good hotel and the price was extremely reasonable. I recommend!

This was our first trip to Rome, and being the total neurotic traveler I did massive research and chose Trastevere neighborhood and Santa Maria. Let me say it is the best choice we have ever made. We arrived late (around 11 pm) after flying in from LA. Somehow our driver was able to negotiate the narrow streets to the hotel. Immediately met by our favorite guy, Claudio at front desk. Big hulking guy, pleasant and beautiful English. He basically carried all of our heavy bags to room with a smile. After this late check in we were happy to find Trastevere absolutely jumping and plenty of dining options. Every morning they serve a wonderful, fresh breakfast which you eat in a gorgeous garden filled with citrus trees. Quiet and serene. Would eat there every day if I could. Breakfast crew is friendly and make the best cappuccino in the world. The grounds are immaculate and charming. Also very fun bikes to use if you like, with the Hotel’s name emblazoned on them, very cute. All in all just an idyllic stay. Special bravo to female owner (sorry forgot name) and Claudio who was wonderful every day with suggestions and just conversation.

I took my son to Rome for a week and we decided to stay in the Trastevere neighborhood and decided on Hotel Santa Maria. I had been to Rome before...but I will say this time was really special. First of all the hotel is wonderful -- great staff, quaint property, and in the middle of a great neighborhood. When I come back I will definitely stay here again. It will not dissappoint!!!

This was the perfect choice for our trip and I'm so happy that we stayed here. We were visiting our daughter who is studying abroad in Rome in Trastevere so we wanted a hotel that was in her neck of the woods so we could be a part of her world for a few days. This was walking distance to everything she loves in Rome... restaurants, shops, piazzas... you name it! She stayed with us in the ample sized triple room and it was a staycation for her while we soaked up the quality time together. Thank You to the staff of this hotel as all are beyond special and wonderful. From the moment we checked in which for us was a bit hectic as we had a rental car to quickly unpack and return, we were greeted by Chiara who has a helpful and positive spirit. The breakfast staff was a perfect upbeat way to start a day. Then, on our last night, Armando recommended his favorite neighborhood restaurant and it was the best meal we had all week, right around the corner from the entrance. I can't forget Chanel, the golden retriever (and office manager) who warmed my heart each day...she is a bonus!! Until we meet again.

We have stayed here several times and every time it is not a disappointment. The staff is extremely helpful, the rooms neat and very clean, and the peaceful courtyard is amazing - considering you are in the center of a metro area. We stayed in room number 1 and it was outstanding with its own private patio seating area.

I have wanted to stay at Hotel Santa Maria ever since two well travelled friends recommended it to me years ago. It did not disappoint. The location, ambience and simplicity were what we were seeking. I have stayed in many 5 star places in Rome and found them stuffy and formal. Hotel Santa Maria is a breath of fresh air. Friendly, relaxed - the gorgeous citrus scented garden was the perfect place to unwind after long days out in the city. At happy hour, the hotel provides substantial aperitivi before heading out for dinner in one of the authentic Trastevere restaurants. At night Trastevere comes alive for locals and tourists alike. When I am next in Roma you’ll find me at Hotel Santa Maria. E perfetto!

Very quiet and romantic setting. Convenient location, clean and very nice staff. Everybody was very helpful. We highly recommend Hotel Santa Maria for your stay in Rome. Just a short walk to restaurants and shops.

My niece and I shared a junior suite for 2 nights. One large room with queen bed, one twin in the first room (upon entering) with a bath in between rooms. Windows opened which was nice. Extremely clean rooms and so quiet. Upon entering the hotel courtyard (where bar is open all day and complimentary breakfast is served), you forget you’re in a very busy, crowded Rome. Roof top terrace was a great place to relax with a glass of wine! So thankful to have found this small gem in Trastevere neighborhood and hope to return! Staff was extremely polite and helpful in all ways! Thank you all!

Highly recommend this GEM in the Trastevere district of Rome. We enjoyed staying at this converted cloister. It’s quaint, quiet and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The terrace was great to enjoy a glass of wine after a day in Roma or coffee in the morning sun. The location was perfect, close to all the sites.
