We would stay here again for the location. You can walk to all the major attractions; it's located right in between the Vatican and the Colosseum, with everything else close too. The Piazza Navona is your backyard. The hotel has some nice European decor -- kinda ugly and funky but it feels like Europe. There are some minor cleanliness and repair problems, like a beat up bathroom door in our room. Overall, the stay was pleasant.

Great hotel in terms of its location. We were able to walk everywhere in historic Rome within minutes. But don't expect four stars even if it claims to be. The rooms are a little stuffy, both in decor and air conditioning. Reasonably but not perfectly maintained.

Within walking for Piazza Navonna, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and Vatican. Great breakfast. Rooms very small, made a triple out of room too small for 2.

This was our first time in Rome and found the Hotel off of Google location. It is perfectly centralized for someone who is willing to walk the streets to see the sights. It is no where close to the Spanish steps or the colussiam which we enjoyed because the tourists in that area were just too much!! We are tourists who do not front pack a backpack, but simply walk down the street as if we were home. The small side streets are crawling with local shops, wine bars, and restaurants. The hotel itself serves outstanding local breakfast on the rooftop terrace. Once breakfast is over, you are welcome to buy wine and bring it up to drink at any point in the evening. The staff was so incredibly helpful when it came to getting around and reataurants, although they did have a touch of a roman attitude. Overall the absolute best hotel during our trips to five different Italian cities!!!!!

An excellent location to see all the sites in Rome. So centrally located it's within easy walking distance of all major landmarks. Easy access to restaurants and shopping. The outdoor breakfast area is pleasant and affords great rooftop views of surrounding area. Only con was the long, long shower curtain on a broken rod that didn't allow water to go down the drain easily. Rod should have been replaced and the shower curtain should have been hemmed to the proper length. Any return trips to Rome, Hotel Genio would be my choice because of the excellent location.

It is too bad that the plumbing is ancient -- mixer faucets were worthless for delivering hot water, in fact virtually freezing. Certainly not 4-star standard, although other aspects of hotel were OK.

It couldn't get any better as concerns location. The hotel provides great ambience for a Rome stay, especially with the breakfast at the rooftop! Quite fine room and service; most recommendable!

This hotel is just ok. The location is very good, walking distance to so many popular attractions and restaurants. The room was quite small (corner room) where the bathroom door opened, barely cleared the end of the bed. The hotel decor was dated and the bed (as is typical European) was hard as rock! Most of the front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. The "lobby" was nothing special - truly nothing special. The best feature of this hotel is the buffet breakfast. There is a wide variety of items to choose from and a sitting area outside with enjoyable views.

The hotel is in a very good location and only short 1/2 mile walk to Vatican. On the downside, room was extremely small (think cruise ship small). Also, not the cleanest room, especially in the bathroom. Road noise was also very high, but fortunately we were able to keep windows closed as we visited in February. Staff was very helpful and all spoke very good English. The morning breakfast is also a good highlight. Excellent selection and quality (give this an "A" rating). This is basically a no frills hotel, but serves the tourist well, especially ones like us with no children who only really needed a comfortable bed to sleep in during our stay.

Location was fantastic. We were near Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, and the Vatican. However, our room was tiny (even by European standards). And to be honest, "[...]" was written above our name on their dry erase board with room assignments and we started to wonder if that is why we had the smaller room (we noticed how much larger other rooms on our floor were). Our sink pedestal leaked as did our shower door. There is no free internet - they made us buy an internet card in order to just print our boarding passes. This confused us as when our iPods picked up the wireless signal, it said you can have a "complimentary 5 free minutes" - yet we were denied this. And the front desk was snippy on their best days. Would not stay there again, but would highly recommend that general area to anyone who is looking to tour Rome.

STAFF VERY HELPFUL...LOCATION GREAT...THIS IS A EUROPEAN HOTEL NAD DO NOT EXPECT A HILTON TYPE AMERICAN FACILITY. ALSO ,TRY TO GET A ROOOM OF THE STREET OR PLAN TO GO TO BED AFTER 11:00 PM AS THE NATIVES DO. WE WILL GO BACK.

The hotel is in the absolute best location for visiting Rome. It is near the Pantheon, in itself a fascinating area of explore, and also within an easy walk to the Vatican and Ancient Rome. The rooms and baths are fine - nothing fancy but certainly comfortable. We also found the staff especially helpful. They arranged for a driver to take us to the airport at 6 a.m. on a Sunday morning - they couldn't have been more helpful and all spoke perfect Englislh.

Booked my reservation 9 months in advance, but when I got there, they had overbooked, and I had to spend the first night in one of their other locations across town. They obviously paid for the taxi, room, etc, but inconvenient all the same. When I did get my room, the show leaked and left the carpet soggy every time I took a shower. Having said that, you absolutely can't beat the location - I was steps from the Piazza Navona and could walk virtually everywhere. After leaving Rome for a few days, I came back and stayed there again the night before I flew home, and the second room I got was much bigger and no problems with the shower at all. The staff was very professional, all-in-all, I would definitely go back.

Everything was great, except for the bed, which was simply two single mattresses pushed together to form a queen. But the bathroom was spacious and must have been very newly renovated. The rooftop was not advertised, but should not be missed for the views. I would return to this hotel.

Very good and safe location. Staff was helpful. I would not stay there again due to the downright painful beds. Too bad because otherwise it was fine. The staff is very helpful in calling a private taxi service for your return but as we found out the charge was 20 euros more. Ask for prices ahead of time!

Breakfast was included and was very good. Rooms were clean and hotel were well located. TV only had two English chanels CNN and BBC news. Elevator was very small so travel light with luggage, or make multiple trips to your room. You might want to ask for first floor room.

Bed was like a rock, lots of noise outside all night long. Could not recommend this hotel to a friend

Very central to most of the major sites in Rome.

We booked a room for three and were very comfortable. There was a record ehat wave in Rome and our oom was cool and confortable. Bathroom great - spacious and all the amenities.

Our family of 4 (ages 20-60) found our 6-night stay at the Genio Hotel a perfect location from which to explore the nearby piazzas and quaint neighborhoods as well as see the major sites of Rome including the Vatican Museum, Ancient Rome, and shopping districts on and off Via Del Corso to the Spanish Steps-- all on foot! Genio Hotel also provides breakfast with a decent variety of offerings daily. The only complaint to mention is the noisy birds in the neighborhood at night, which might be a problem if you are a light sleeper. After a full day of walking the city, however, we all slept extremely well every night! Front desk was helpful, arranged airport shuttle which was waiting for us at the appointed time.

Dear guest, thanks for your review, we are sorry you didn't like our classical decor which is in line with the area we are in. It's good that it didn't influence your stay, which was a pleasant one. We hope to host you again soon.
