very helpful reception staff, and a nice selection of pastries waiting on arrival. Everyone speaks English and are eager to help with things like directions and travel. The rooms are nice, double bed/fitted wardrobe and good bathroom. The continental breakfast offers a large amount of options. Some minor things, our A/C didn't work very well and the bathroom could do with a few minor repairs but other than that it's lovely.
I stayed with a friend at the Hotel Panama and can highly recommend it as excellent value. The rooms are small, clean and full equipped. There is a decent on site gym. The hotel peaceful and located at the top of the city, so a little more than 'a stones throw' but its situated in a lovely quiet residential area with lovely local bars and restaurants to visit. You'll really feel like a local! I'd recommend buying a bus ticket for you visit. There are a few buses into central points of interest and connections - 62 and 91 come to mind just ask the staff at reception. The 19 tram at the end of the road will take you directly to the vatican city. The best thing about the hotel has to be the staff. Every single one of them were welcoming, accomodating and friendly. I would definitely pay another visit.
Stayed for two nights and enjoyed the calmness of the place after the hustle of central Rome Reviewers have mentioned before about the friendly and helpful staff and I can confirm this is the case, nothing is too much trouble My room 204 was clean modern and with great air con and wifi Breakfast is buffet style and very good I recommend this Hotel
Really lovely little hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast garden was delightful with plenty of food choices. Not big bedrooms but fully equipped, clean and comfortable. Location was good too. Away from the city it was quiet and relaxed but with good transport links!
Writing this review while still at the hotel; that's how impressed we are. We were messed around by our cab here and hence were a bit 'rattled' when we arrived. The office staff were great, friendly and helpful. As we were early (11am) we thought we would have to store the bags and wait, but no; we were able to get in early. There is complimentary coffee and pastries in the lobby, the rooms are clean and well appointed and later, when I went back down to the lobby to ask a few of the old 'tourist' questions the gentleman could not have been more helpful. Add all that with the pretty garden, location, free WIFI and included breakfast and although the rooms are dated I would still happily give this a 4 star rating (rooms alone don't make a rating). After 24+ hours in a plane and 2+ hours in a cab with a lost driver my wife was VERY pleased to arrive at the Panama.
My mother and myself stayed here the second week of May, the hotel is set just outside the main hustle and bustle of Tourists and main landmarks in Rome. Some people may see this as an issue but for us it was perfect! once you do your homework on the public transport getting around is easy! there is a bus stop 2 blocks from the hotel. Not to mention a short walk to the tram and a little further to go to the Metro which takes your right to the coliseum. The Staff were very friendly and always there to help, the room was cleaned every day with everything tidied up and fresh towels which was lovely! Complementary tea, coffee and cakes on arrival and the breakfasts were wonderful! so much choice and filled you up before a long day out. In the local area there are some really nice restaurants and delis frequented by the locals. The room was lovely and spacious and very clean! The bed was very comfy (exactly what you need after a full day walking). All in all this hotel was lovely! would come back and stay here in a heart beat.
I will be returning to this Holtel in August, Staff are lovely & very helpful & English speaking very close to great food,& Transport great rooms, hotel in a great quite location but near enough to all amenities roll on August.
Myself and my wife chose to stay here as it was recommended on the British Airways website when looking to book a few days in the Eternal city. Overall we were extremely pleased with the hotel, its in a quiet area but not too far from the main attractions, with bus routes a 5-10 min walk taking you to the Barberini which has a Metro station, most the open top tourist bus routes and also regular public transport. You can also, within 15 mins walk from the hotel, get to the Tram line which one way will go to the Coliseum and the other right to the Vaticans doorstep. The room was good, a bit on the smaller side (room 303) but we had a lovely balcony which overlooked a courtyard. The room was equipped with tea/coffee making facilities, a fridge, Sky TV and a bathroom with a shower. Breakfast was a buffet style affair with a hot and cold food and coffee, reception also served complimentary pastries, tea and coffee throughout the day. Staff were helpful and suggested how to best get to places, and provided a handy map which they could point out directions to attractions and places to visit.. A great hotel for you trip to Rome, when I return I would not hesitate in booking this hotel again.
The staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable with some nice touches - tea & coffee making, complementary still and sparkling water every day. Tea, coffee, bottled water and pastries were complementary in the hotel reception every day from 11am onwards. We found some excellent restaurants within a 5 min walk of the hotel so no need to eat in the city. Breakfast was good but we never saw the bar open, then again we didn't ask for bar service but bought wine from a nearby supermarket. Bus and tram services into Rome centre were nearby.
Overall it is a decent 3 star hotel, no more, by British standards. Our good old Premier Inn is a 5 star in comparison. Reasons : dated rooms and bathroom fittings, though very clean. We liked the location of the hotel, lovely garden, pleasant stuff. Our main problem was with the room allocated. We bought a holiday deal through British Airways, flights and hotel, to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The only room available was standard twin room, but after looking through the photos on BA and hotel own websites we were happy with it, as they depicted two single beds side by side. There was not a single photo or a mention of the bed arrangement that is shown on our photos : long, narrow, dark room with two beds alongside the wall. We would have never booked this hotel if we knew the real truth about their "secret twin room". Hotel was fully booked , so the stuff could not help us .They offered to push the beds together, but then we would have needed to jump over the beds to get to the bathroom as the room is very narrow. Needless to say our special holiday was ruined . The hotel owners are mis selling and misrepresenting their facilities, so very indecent of them. They would have actually made themselves a favour if they provided the truthful description of this particular room. It would have suited friends travelling together or a parent with a child. As it stands they are purposefully misleading people and taking advantage of the trusting customers. We are taking this matter with the BA complaint department as well.
