We arrived early evening on a Friday. The externals were clean and tidy and welcoming however the front of hotel leads straight onto a road which is a safety issue especially if you have children with you. We were welcomed by the receptionist with a smile and service was professional and friendly. Before we could check in we were told we needed to pay a travellers tax which would cost €4 euros per person per night. It was the first I had heard of this and didn’t happen to find anything online. It neither stated this on Hotels.com. Arriving at our room it was great to see the rooms were modern and very clean. The shower was great and a large bed to sleep in. We paid for “room with a view” which the view was supposed to be of the Vatican however you can only see the tip of this and I honestly think you would struggle to see much more from the junior suites (floor 5 - we were on floor 4). The bed was comfortable and the black out blinds really do work however the control panel for the heating/AC displays a bright green light which illuminates the whole room and is very difficult to sleep with. A top tip is to use a sock to cover this. Each day the room was reset and the bed made. My only concern is that our bedding was not changed for 3 days. We stayed for 4 nights yet the bedding was changed on our last day. The sheet which was put on our bed was not big enough for the mattress. The duvet had no cover and instead this was substituted for two large sheets which were set up like a sandwich. Not ideal as I can only assume they do not wash the duvets after each guest. On the Saturday my partner and I had booked a meal and after realising there was no iron available in the room I called reception to request one. I was informed that I could collect this from reception in 10 minutes. 5 minutes later a phone call from reception came through to inform me that I could not have an iron as it had been given to another guest earlier in the day and had not been returned. After a long discussion the receptionist informed me there was nothing more he could do for me. I queried why there was only 1 iron for a hotel with 40 rooms to which he replied “I don’t know”. Breakfast was included in the offer, we only attempted this on the first day and decided not to bother for the further 3 days. There was packet cheese and ham available as cold options and then for hot just powdered eggs and cut up chunks of sausages. No fruit at all which is very strange. Disappointing! To sum up if you are looking for a hotel to just spend the night (E.g stag and hen do) then this might be suitable. However if you are looking for comfort and a great place to relax while you embrace the sights of rome then I’d think twice. The most positive aspects of this hotel are: Majority of staff are very pleasant Rooms are modern Rooms are clean Other negative aspects to be aware of: Rooms are not soundproof There are no English channels on the television The toilet paper resembles sand paper.
I thought the room was very comfortable and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I liked the location - it was close to shops and restaurants and in a nice area. We would definitely stay here again!
I just got back from a trip to Rome. We stayed at this lovely little hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spotless. The location was convenient for the Vatican. Several buses from the bus stop, a 5 min walk away, will take you into the city. Fantastic restaurant next door. A very pleasant trip
Large group of girls arrived fairly late in the evening but were dealt with swiftly by reception- always friendly. Id booked a single occupancy room which was huge - the ensuite and all facilities were clean, air conditioning etc great. Only critism Id give was that the hairdryer was extremely poor. Would have been useful to have had tea/coffee in the room especially as some of our trips meant that we had to leave our rooms by 6.30am. Breakfast was basic but good. Bed was comfortable and my 3 night stay, 4th floor, good wi fi, was uninterrupted and did the job for another great break in Rome. the hotel arranged taxis for us to get to and from the airport as well as early morning trips.
We have spent four nights here in this lovely convenient hotel. Bus stop just 100 metres away gets you wherever you want. The restaurant next door is as good as you get in Rome. Breakfasts are simple continental self service with no frills. Perfect when getting up and out around Rome. Rooms are spotless and spacious but with limited storage so I had to use my small case for the duration of the stay. Really convenient for the Vatican but as our tour started early (8.00) at the Vatican Museum on the other side we chose to book a taxi (€10). Walking home from St Peter's Square is no problem whatever age you are. I would certainly visit the Gravini San Pietro again.
Initially the hotel was hard to find but we got there eventually. The rooms are basic as expected for the price. There is a fridge with drinks and snacks. THIS IS NOT FREE despite other reviewers saying it was. That was a bit of a surprise at the end as I didn't see anything in the room saying these items would be charged for. The room was cleaned every day. We had a small balcony (which we didn't use but if you smoke it's ideal). The shower was lovely. There is an overhead very high pressure shower as well as a hand held shower unit. The room also had a bidet. We did experience and issue with ants. My son was actually bitten one night by a red ant. The cleaners did fix this and sprayed everywhere and I got the impression this might ne an ongoing issue. The breakfasts were ok. They have scrambled egg, ham and cheese, and hot dog type sausages. They also have what looked to be tinned fruit. They provide cereals which I tried one day bit the mill wasn't cold (or very nice). I ate cakes and a croissant most mornings. The cake selections are lovely. Marble cake and mini muffins. They also have jams to go with the croissants and bread. There are two coffee machines and hot water and tea bags. There isn't much storage space in the room so if you are there for longer than four days (or if you've brought a few outfits for each day) you will probably live out of your suitcase. The staff we came across were all friendly. The street the hotel is on is really nice. Lots of restaurants and cafes. We went to the restaurant right next door to the hotel on the last night and I have to concur with all the other reviewers here, it was lovely. It was actually the best meal we ate the entire time we were there and this was due to the food but also the atmosphere. All in all a hotel which has everything that you need with no frills.
This hotel have an awesome room air conditioning!!!! Rooms are nice and clean. Recommended +++++ Really close to the Vatican and good service. Bathrooms are nice, clean, and Moderm. Safe inside the room.
Very good location to Vatican just 10 minutes away and perfectly within easy reach to other tourist destination. Helpful staff reception. Very clean rooms , thumbs up. Towels changed everyday! Good choices of breakfast. Near San Pieter train station 5 minutes walk. Bus stop just outside hotel. Nearby restaurants 5 minutes walk. Grazie Mille!
The Hotel Gravina San Pietro is a nice little spot. It is well situated to St. Peters and offers a nice breakfast. It works well if you are looking for a nice hotel that is not costly, but offers good value. If you get a chance to have a balcony over looking the Vatican - that certainly was something that was very cool indeed, even for a hotel that would have cost much more. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were nice enough considering where you are.
We looked for ages for a decent hotel with free breakfast and this was by far the nicest we could find for it's price range. Rooms are modern and have plenty of space and a balcony, we asked for a room higher up for a better view and were given a room on the fourth floor. The ac is adjustable and the bed was very comfy, also plenty of wardrobe space. The only downside of the room was that the shower is very small and quite hard to fit into and move around in. The breakfast was very good, staff very friendly, all around great experience!
