The hotel is situated within the walking distance of the Vatican and the St Peter`s Cathedral. – If you want, you can also walk to the city center which should take you some 40 mins. – If not, a taxi would cost you some 13 EUR. The surroundings of the hotel were not too enchanting. – It is situated in one of the back streets, facing other `70 or `80 buildings, in front of an exit of a subterranean garage and some seldom emptied garbage dustbins. The rooms are small, yet clean, and a walk on balcony in ours was a nice difference to many hotels I had been to – especially that it was overlooking the dome of St Peter’s Cathedral. The bathroom was big enough, though the shower unit was certainly too small. – What is more, the amount of toiletries was not sufficient, but given the near by Carrefour open 7/24, that was not an issue. Breakfast was so – so, with (sadly) no fresh fruit available, yet a variety of pastry, yoghurt (including plain), cereal, cornflakes, cheese, ham and scrambled eggs. – Very nice tea and coffee. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Highlight of staying here during a short stay was the impeccable service. I arrived at the hotel prior to the check in time really hoping to only leave my bags for safe keep whilst I explored the nearby Vatican. Staff offered me to check in as a room was available and ready. Rooms were very clean and comfortable with a good sized double bed and plenty of storage including a safe. I was happy with the shower option and this had great immediate pressure and temperature. Location wise – the property is very close to a bus stop for when the weather was not too great but as a keen walker I was able to walk everywhere I wanted to, I will not say how long as I am fond of a scenic route. Few restaurants around the immediate area along with a 24/7 supermarket very close by. I was waiting for documents to be couriered to me and the staff were very flexible in offering to hold a room for me if I needed to extend for another night as the hotel was filling up. When my package was delivered, I was out exploring but the staff emailed me immediately to let me know my package had arrived. There is a train station (San Pietro) quite close to the hotel which got me to the airport (FCO) for 8 Euros in 45 minutes which involved a change at Trastevere but all very straightforward. Would have liked to have got more names but special thanks to the Massimo (sp) on reception.
Excellently placed hotel. Our room had a view of St. Peter’s Basilica. The room was clean, modern, comfy bed and lovely hot water. Reception were very helpful ordering taxis and giving useful information. Carrefour just across the way and good restaurants around. Walking distance to Vatican City.
Nice welcom from friendly staff, with room ready earlier than expected. Room with balcony (4th floor) and nice view at cupola of St.Peter's Basilica. Nice and quiet area, 15 min walk to Vatican. Room clean, modern but with very small shower cabin. Basic but good breakfast, fresh and very good bread. Stayed for 5 days. Very good value - recommended.
This hotel is situated in a great location the reception staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and bright. It is situated in a side street just a couple of minutes from the bus stops, and close enough to be able to walk into the Vatican City. Take the underpass adjacent to the Vatican City and you will come through to the great River Tiber where you can find many Hop on Hop Off Tour busses. Only minuses is breakfast is pretty basic a choice of Granola or Corn Flakes both high in sugars and no fibre, no fresh fruit only tinned peaches in syrup. Lots of cake and pastry which may appeal to some, scrambled eggs and frankfurters for hot looked pretty unappetising. We just bought some fruit from the supermarket just across the road so no problem but worth knowing. Considering the cost of the hotel stay I think it was excellent value.
A warm welcome in this modern hotel situated in a quiet residential location away from the central tourist spots. Clean bright bedroom (303) with balcony, large bed, adequate bathroom with clean towels every day. Adequate continental breakfast with large choice of coffees from a machine. For travel to and from the airport the San Pietro Station is 2 minute walk away, change trains at Trastevere for connections with trains from and to the airport. At 8 euros it is a bargain. Lots of reasonably priced restaurants within 5 minute walk.
Hotel Gravina was situated in a great location for the sites we wanted to visit while in Rome. I booked through United Airlines, and was disappointed when I arrived to discover breakfast was not included in the package I had purchased. I thought it was. I was also a bit surprised that the transfer from the airport to the hotel (arranged by the hotel), cost 65 euros. A local restaurant owner hooked me up with a car to go back for 45 euros. Big difference. The hotel is clean, with a king size bed. Not much closet space. Bathroom was a bit small, especially the shower. Although I think that may be the norm in Italian hotels. The staff was courteous and helpful, and most spoke English. Since this was my first time in Italy, I don't have much to compare to.
Close to St. Peter’s square, it’s hidden in a side street off via Gregorio VII, a busy main road. The rooms are comfortable and quite and the personnel’s is very helpful and competent. I stayed only 1 night but will go back the next time I am back in Rome.
We arrived early evening on a Friday. The externals were clean and tidy and welcoming however the front of hotel leads straight onto a road which is a safety issue especially if you have children with you. We were welcomed by the receptionist with a smile and service was professional and friendly. Before we could check in we were told we needed to pay a travellers tax which would cost €4 euros per person per night. It was the first I had heard of this and didn’t happen to find anything online. It neither stated this on Hotels.com. Arriving at our room it was great to see the rooms were modern and very clean. The shower was great and a large bed to sleep in. We paid for “room with a view” which the view was supposed to be of the Vatican however you can only see the tip of this and I honestly think you would struggle to see much more from the junior suites (floor 5 - we were on floor 4). The bed was comfortable and the black out blinds really do work however the control panel for the heating/AC displays a bright green light which illuminates the whole room and is very difficult to sleep with. A top tip is to use a sock to cover this. Each day the room was reset and the bed made. My only concern is that our bedding was not changed for 3 days. We stayed for 4 nights yet the bedding was changed on our last day. The sheet which was put on our bed was not big enough for the mattress. The duvet had no cover and instead this was substituted for two large sheets which were set up like a sandwich. Not ideal as I can only assume they do not wash the duvets after each guest. On the Saturday my partner and I had booked a meal and after realising there was no iron available in the room I called reception to request one. I was informed that I could collect this from reception in 10 minutes. 5 minutes later a phone call from reception came through to inform me that I could not have an iron as it had been given to another guest earlier in the day and had not been returned. After a long discussion the receptionist informed me there was nothing more he could do for me. I queried why there was only 1 iron for a hotel with 40 rooms to which he replied “I don’t know”. Breakfast was included in the offer, we only attempted this on the first day and decided not to bother for the further 3 days. There was packet cheese and ham available as cold options and then for hot just powdered eggs and cut up chunks of sausages. No fruit at all which is very strange. Disappointing! To sum up if you are looking for a hotel to just spend the night (E.g stag and hen do) then this might be suitable. However if you are looking for comfort and a great place to relax while you embrace the sights of rome then I’d think twice. The most positive aspects of this hotel are: Majority of staff are very pleasant Rooms are modern Rooms are clean Other negative aspects to be aware of: Rooms are not soundproof There are no English channels on the television The toilet paper resembles sand paper.
I thought the room was very comfortable and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I liked the location - it was close to shops and restaurants and in a nice area. We would definitely stay here again!
