A very clean hotel with friendly staff. Food in the restaurant was excellent with a scrumptious breakfast. Complimentary water was only two bottles per visit where as most other Hilton Hotels offer HHonors members complimentary water everyday. They arranged airport pickup which was a bonus, but beware that you are unable to book your airport transport to your room or pay using American Express which resulted in being caught out without cash to pay the driver which as embarrassing. Despite this it was an enjoyable stay. check out the great classic fife shop, Caffe Rossini across the road.
This was our third stay at the HGI Rome Claridge; all three stays as a diamond member using points. We only stayed for two nights during this visit, to get used to our new time zone after our flight and relax a bit before moving on to other areas in Italy. No real changes were obvious over the past four years. The staff was pleasant as usual and we were able to access our room well in advance of check in time, which was nice. The room category we’ve booked each time is a standard king. Bathroom is tiny (not much space to put your toiletries), as is the room itself, but enough space to move around, especially considering we don’t spend much time in the room. One thing I continue to think is odd is that there are no chairs on the small balcony. It would be nice to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine or just relax. Breakfast has more than enough choices and you may request additional items not on the self-serve buffet if preferred. As in the past, it appears that many tour groups utilize this property, so things are busy when they are checking in/out or eating. We purchased tram tickets from the front desk and rode to Trastevere (our first time using the tram in Rome… not sure why we were apprehensive in the past!). It was a great experience and a nice alternative to getting around vs. a taxi. I believe the tickets were 1.50 euro each. We spent the rest of that day wandering all of Rome and walked all the way back to the hotel through various neighborhoods while sightseeing. We walked 11 miles that day! It was wonderful. We also really enjoy strolling the areas around this property, although it does seem a bit ‘grittier’ than our previous visits. More litter, and more dog poo to watch out for on the sidewalks. We felt extremely safe at all times and like being away from the historic tourist area. On our final night back in Rome prior to our flight home, we decided to stay at the new Hilton Aleph Rome Curio property in the heart of things. While it was a beautiful property, with very professional employees, (at much higher points), we still prefer the Claridge. The Aleph just doesn’t have the same ‘local’ and genuine feel, and the surroundings (restaurants, etc.) are geared toward tourists. Looking forward to our next visit at the HGI Claridge! Thanks for another superb stay!
Hotel was very nice, looked like new. All staff was friendly, nice and helped us with everything we needed. Special mention to Rumil who was taking care of us during our dinner! Mobile phone in our room, ready to use was great touch for tourists!
Hotel is clean, in a good area and well managed. The room was spacious for a European hotel, and well stocked. The staff were very helpful in arranging restaurant reservations and transportation. Breakfast was good, but no variety. The buffet was the same all five mornings, but there is the option of a freshly cooked breakfast if you wish. Trams outside the door will bring you directly to the Vatican or the Colosseum.
It was great because in front of the hotel is the city bus that goes to so many locations and used our RomaPass: Vatican City, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and it stops every 30 minutes which was nice except Sundays were tricky!! I am a Gold member and we both got complimentary breakfast which was great to start off with a great coffee on the go. The price to the airport was a flat rate 45.00 euros for two people and we had 4 pieces of luggage. Again, if you like to stay away from the crazy, chaos and come to a quiet and cozy bed stay here. Plus, the staff are so friendly and help! Thanks HGI #honeymoontour #HGI
My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights in April 2018. Although this property is 15 minutes from the Colosseum and Forum area, getting there only requires one tram, and the stop is steps away from the hotel entrance. Additionally, you can get to the main shopping area as well as the Vatican using only one bus/tram. The tram/bus stop to each is roughly one block away. There are multiple restaurants within a few stops or short walk from the hote ( I Butteri was our favorite). There is also a grocery store basically across the street. During our trip to 4 countries which means 4 different hotels, this one had the best amenities and most comfortable room. I wish I could have those towels at home. Our room was quickly cleaned and replenishedeach day, usually while we had breakfast. I emailed the hotel several times with questions, and each time they quickly responded. One of my questions was in regards to the most efficient way to transfer from the airport to the hotel. They offered to arrange a private car for a set fee which I accepted. I was so glad they offered because it made the transfer so simple. The staff was always professional and very friendly. I would like to make special mention of the two gentlemen operating the breakfast room. I regret that I do not recall their names. They were so kind to speak English to us, quickly knew our room number by memory, and were so friendly and attentive without being intrusive. I even wish I would have gotten pictures with them. I noted the gentlemen from West Africa greeting other guests in 4 languages and feel certain he knows even more.
I was hesitant at first to stay at an American chain for our time in Rome but I have always been pleased with Hilton consistent high standards, and we were able to use points (at a great rate) for our stay. Very happy with our decision. We were welcomed by courteous and friendly staff - this remained the case throughout our stay. No language barrier at all. The hotel is in great shape and very clean. The room was small - but that is more standard in Europe. Almost no drawer space, but it was fine. The shower was strong enough. Bed was very comfortable. We did not find the room to be noisy, we were not on a high floor (2) and we faced the side of the building. The elevators are tiny (again - a European thing). Breakfast was nice - much better than USA HGI's. Staff at breakfast was really excellent, especially the host (didn't get his name). Eggs to order take a little too long - but if you are not in a hurry - go for it. We also had dinner in the hotel restaurant the first night we arrived. Again, excellent service, we felt very at home. The lentil soup was awesome, the fish entrees were a bit overdone.Wine was great, gelato dessert yum. Best thing about this hotel is location. We thought it looked like it might be too far from the main sights - not so. We started and ended each day with a walk through Borghese Park. Only used public transportation - trolleys - to make our early morning tour times at the Vatican and Colosseum. Otherwise - walked everywhere. Try to stroll over to nearby Coppede neighborhood - really beautiful architecture. Felt safe walking around the hotel neighborhood at all times.
Very helpful staff and a very good breakfast. We had a room in the 5th floor to the noisy street, but the room was good air conditioned to sleep with closed window. Supermarket, restaurants, bars and take-aways are comfortably close. Public transport connection to the city is very good.
After your day of touring Rome you would like to return to the hotel for rest. This hotel is in nice shape but it is impossible to sleep. You pick up a lot of road noise from the street which lasts until about 3 am but more importantly the housekeeping is extremely loud. There is constant doors banging and carts being slammed into the wall. This usually started around 7:30 am.
Stayed here a couple of years ago and property still in excellent shape. Staff very helpful, breakfast is very good. We asked for a room with balcony and were situated on the street side and thought it might be noisy, but even with balcony door open it was never an issue. Bus/tram right outside, grocery store across the street, wide choice of restaurants around the corner or just down the street.
