HQH Colosseo - Daplace Collection0.0 out of 5.0

HQH is in a good location, just off Via Cavour and close to the Colosseum and Forum. The hotel has limited facilities and is basically a few rooms with a small reception area on one floor at the top of a traditional building. You have a key to your room, a key for entry to the reception area and a key for entrance to the building. The stairs from the street level are a hassle with luggage and not good if you have a disability. However, there is a small elevator fitted in what was the centre of the stairwell. The hotel is clean and the staff, on site in the daytime, are polite and friendly.
Our experience at HQH Colosseo is limited to one night only, but we definitely feel like recommending the place. The rooms are located at the third floor of an old building with no elevator, so this should be taken in consideration by people with mobility issues. Other than that, we found it to be a perfect solution in terms of comfort, position and budget. Despite being in the middle of everything in the Rione Monti, near the Colosseum and Fori Imperiali, in some way it manages to stay very quiet: in fact, we had a pretty good night's sleep! We had the Pamphili room, that was rather small, yet the right answer to our needs. The mattress was comfortable and everything clean and in working order. The A/C can be a little noisy, but if you set it right it will only go off a few times at night. Worth noticing: this is not a hotel, but a guesthouse. Ergo: it doesn't have a 24 hour reception and check-in is from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Late check-in (after 7 p.m.) equals an extra fee. You are provided a set of three keys: one for your room, one for the entrance door and one for the door of the building, downstairs. If you are coming straight from the airport in the late afternoon, you might want to weigh your options. The girl at the reception (she's very nice, by the way) was just speaking on the phone with someone when we arrived, telling them that nobody could be there to open the door for them at 1 a.m. after their flight got delayed... All considered, a great find for your vacation in Rome if you wish to stay around the Fori and on a budget!
Me and my partner recently stayed with HQH in Rome and would not look to stay ever again. We arrived In Rome by taxi from the airport the taxi driver could not find the Hotel and left us to search. After half an hour of searching and a few phone calls to the Hotel we finally found it, a poorly signed (no sign) door in the high street. Up 4 flight of Narrow stairs into the office we were greeted with a lovely lady whom booked us in after parting with £306 for 4 nights (+city charge) which we new about we were shown to the door directly behind us. We entered a small room with a double bed and shower/ toilet room. Immediately we knew being next to the office we would be disturbed so we immediately asked to change rooms which we were told we could not for 2 nights. We except this and carried on. The room over night was very noisy no sound proofing at all we could hear was the lady in the office and the street out side all night long. The bed was very hard not at all worth the £306 we paid! After having not much sleep at all we were woken early by someone knocking our door at 8am for what reason we don’t know. After the 2nd night in the hotel we did not see anyone from reception so we could not change rooms so we had to stay in the same room. Out side was very noisy every night filled with people chatting, cars and motorbikes going up and down and then noise from people in the office checking in and out every day and night. Over all this Hotel for us was meant to be a treat to our selves at over £300 for 4 nights. This hotel / room would be better priced at £30 a night. I feel the room we stayed in should not be sold as a room to rent. We were very disappointed with our stay and would not recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Rome. The only positive was it was close to the centre of Rome.
This is a lovely little place to stay, this is more renting a room than staying in a hotel. Very clean, comfortable bed and helpful staff. Brilliantly located about 5 to 6 mins walk from the Colleseum and Forum area, easy to walk to most of the attractions and Cavour metro station 5 mins away. Explore the little streets all around at night for great ambiance. If you can, be more organised than we were and pre book tickets for the Vatican museum (use the Vatican site, should be 16 euros per adult) to save queuing. The wait for the Basilica moves quickly so don't be put off too much. However, if you are going to go up to the dome, be warned that you may pay to use the elevator, but there are still about 300 steps and parts are very narrow, not good if you are claustrophobic, however views are great. Similarly try and pre book Colleseum (12 € includes, Palatine and Forum), and give yourself plenty of time for Forum and Palatine as there is so much to see. Would stay here again when we hopefully return to explore the rest of Rome. Look out for Pizza sign next door and jewellers the other, as the door to hotel is not marked.
The hotel had a great location and the room was very comfortable, but the hotel was very hard to find. It was more like a Airbnb with not so good service, than a hotel. There was no elevator to the third floor hotel, so a bit inconvenient with luggage. Even if your plane or train is late, you may get a late fee for checking in after 7pm. When we had questions for staff, we had to call, since staff not on site often. Once we called they were very responsive. Price was comparatively good, location excellent, and room was nice and comfortable. Better directions to get there, better service and more accurate description of the hotel would make experience better.
I was on business trip, not on holidays. I didn't check the reviews, I noticed average high score and paid 260€ for 2 night so i had some expectations. They were wrong, should have read the reviews, i could have known... It is hard to find, no signs at all at front door, not even a doorbel with the sign, the "hotel" is at 3rd floor, small staircase to get there. I got 3 keys to enter my room ... Room is nice and comfortable, there is free wifi, you can find the code somewhere in your room, found it second night. There is no breakfast, i figured this out the first morning, unfortunately too short in time due to meetings to find a place to have breakfast. It is very close to colloseum, location is top. I had a room at the street, very noisy as beautiful weather outside, people having a good time, alarms going of and noisy scooters. Too expensive for what i got
We enjoyed 4 nights here and found the location perfect for us. The Coliseum, Forum and all the rest are a short walk down the street. Lots of touristy places to eat nearby, and the little piazza outside seems to be a hangout for the local college kids. The hotel is in a very old building with no lift and the stairs might be a bit of a challenge for some. Room we had was clean, with good a/c and wifi.
I booked this as a surprise birthday present for my partner so the first thing that encouraged me was the price (since I was paying all by myself, it was cost friendly). By far the best price for this location. Also, what encouraged me was the style/look as a lot of Italian decor in hotels seemed quite dated whereas this was the much more modern. Mariya and her team were very friendly and were so helpful - both before and during the trip! We arrived quite late so we checked in the next morning and we were given a map and were advised on areas worth seeing and when, and also what to do if we wanted to use transport (we didn't as it was so easy to walk everywhere), this came in handy the whole holiday so we were very grateful for that. We stayed in the Borghese Room - very clean and tidy, the bathroom was lovely too. Quiet and air conditioning was a godsend when the afternoon/evening was hot. Great location too - just off the main street of Cavour, which has lots of cafés and restaurants available for breakfast which were great! The only downfall would be that anyone who can't handle stairs shouldn't book this as there are a lot of stairs to climb. Would definitely book this again if/when we decide to return. Thank you all for making our trip worthwhile!
Lovely little hotel with LOTS of stairs. Sanny at the front desk was lovely - bright, bubbly, welcoming and happy to help with carting a suitcase upstairs (thank you Sanny!). The rooms were large and clean and were serviced daily. No tea/coffee in rooms but plenty of cafes close by. Close to the Colesseum and within walking distance of many of Rome's tourist sites this is a great location. Also close to the metro. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would be great to have use of the lift in the building but that is a small thing - the stairs would be a problem for elderly or movement impaired but were fine for our stay. There was no hot water one morning but a text to Sanny on her day off and it was fixed within half an hour. She was really delightful to deal with and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.
Anna was AMAZING ever since we booked our 3 nights stay. She showed us all the best places to go and wrote it all on a map. She gave us a list of restaurants worth visiting, hidden treasures in Rome and all the things which was not worth spending time doing. And boy was she right! The location is really close to everything in nice and relaxed Monti. Everything is within walking distance! The only negative thing was a lot of noise outside during the night, but that has nothing to do with the hotel. We loved our stay!
