Cardinal Hotel St Peter

Recent guest reviews

Staff overall was very friendly but there is a think fellow with glasses who works at the front desk who was arrogant and not helpful at all. The rest of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant food was not that good but breakfast was excellent. Location was good. The terrace restaurant was not open at all--or the hotel did not promote it at all yet on their site, that is what they show. Wireless service is not in the rooms at all just in the lobby. That 's not good. I can't recommend a hotel to friends because of the problem with wireless--none in the rooms!

Experience at the hotel was good. However it's located a little ways from the Vatican and other main features of Rome (about a 7 euro cab ride). Nice pool and room.

We stayed at Cardinal for 3 nites prior to our cruise, 1 night after returning. Disappointments: The toilet was not secure to the wall in the 3 person/1st room. The closet door was off the rails and took a mechanic to open in the 2 person/2nd room. Our 1st balcony was over a sewer grade drain and faced a two story cement wall. The pillows are little more than floor mats. The restaurant and bar are also on Italy's schedule, open part time only. When Italy closes between 2 and 7 pm, the hotel restaurant/bar isn't open either. The Cardinal has umbrella tables in a court yard they close arbitrarily. No Ice (95% of Italy doesn't have ice) and tiny cups so bring your own solo cups if you want refreshments in your room. The local front desk staff do not want to be bothered with guests so forget about "concierge" services. The foreign non-local personnel (1 bellman & a breakfast attendant) were very nice and tried to be helpful. Free broad-ranged breakfast but the restaurant is not worth the prices in the hotel. Good news, the hotel is air conditioned and the bathrooms are sized well. It is in walking distance to grocery, coffee, retail shops and the bus stop.

First off - The location is advertised as a 15-20 minute walk from Vatican City/St. Peter's. It's more like 40-50 minute walk, and a long cab ride from all other major sights in Rome. Nearest metro stop is at least a 20-minute walk away, so we spent what we saved on this hotel on cab rides to and from different sights. Also, no wifi except in the lobby. Not a good value for a 4-star. Save your feet for exploring the parts of the city worth seeing (the neighborhood around this hotel is not scenic at all), and book somewhere closer to the central sights or a metro stop. It's worth the extra cost for a hotel closer to the action. On the plus side, the beds were extremely comfortable, the rooms were large.

Nice hotel in a decent location. Pool closes at 7:00 so that kinda sucked.

Hotel was pretty good with good amenities and clean room. Our room had view of St.Peter's Bascilla from the balcony. The front-desk was okay, not very helpful in suggesting the directions. For anyone staying at this hotel, I highly recommend using the metro to visit attractions like colosseum, trevi fountain etc. We found that out on last day, its really easy if you know proper directions. Also buy a good map, the map supplied by the hotel is cut-off is not helpful

My experience was horrible.....NO INTERNET, NO ADAPTERS TO CONNECT electronics like camera, cell, etc, etc I asked the staff for adapters they told me that they dont have more that if i need it I can go and buy them at the hardware store!!! DO NOT RECOMEND THIS HOTEL AT ALL.

Easy walks to the Vatican and a 10 minute taxi ride to the other attractions of Rome.

We were visiting the old Rome. We lost two luggage as soon as we arrive, and it was a big pain. Have a good breakfast.

The hotel is of good value. We had free breakfast included in the reservation. People were waiting in line for the breakfast after 8:30 am during our stay (the end of year, around christmas). Anyway, it is a little far from the metro. It is a 20 to 30 minute walk (with up and down a hill) from the nearest metro station. Taking bus 31 or 33 from cipro (the metro station near vantican museum) is much easier. We left our baggages there on the check-out day and gathered them later. It worked out great.

Will go again

The hotel was about a mile walk from the metro station. Nice rooms, rather unpleasant staff. Stay closer to the city.
