We love the Stanley, not what we exspected, we have stayed there before. Staff not so friendly, charges to room that were not ours, no amenities at all, no place to buy things we needed because of no amenidies . could not find ice or vending. No the shinning movie to watch. Was not pleased with this visit

I have had much better service in hotels that cost half the price. The Stanley prides itself on being upscale, it may want to invest in training their staff and improving their rooms. Our room had no ducted heating and we had the choice of unbearably hot or opening the bathroom window and letting the 25 degree howling winds through our room to cool it down. Even when the window was shut, freezing particles of snow got through the cracks. The staff was universally uninterested in any guest concerns and with the exception of the bar staff, acted like every request, a room service menu, for example, was the height of unreasonableness. Why there was no menus in the rooms is still a mystery. Our Christmas buffet server had to be requested twice to take a drink order after 10 minutes of waiting, and when I tried to confirm my reservation the day before, I was met with an aggressive woman who snapped, 'they had 500 bookings and could not be expected to find my name quickly'. Perhaps the Stanley Hotel staff have not heard of alphabetical order? We have stayed at many hotels and were especially excited to celebrate our wedding anniversary and Christmas at the Stanley. Needless to say, our excitement and good cheer soon changed to disappointment and finally offense. Don't waste your money on this hotel. It's so busy telling everyone how upscale it is it forgets to actually deliver on the promise.

Beautiful place with and even more beautiful view. Restaurant was amazing. Check in was clumsy and we were given an incorrect room. It took a few minutes but we did get moved. We ordered room service and the kitchen seemed bothered. We waited almost 2 hrs and could only leave a message. They never did bring our food. Wouldn't keep me from staying here again, just don't rely on room service for your dinner.

Great place wonderful staff great breakfast at lodge. Parking with concert going on not so good had to park half mile away and walk other than that was great place

No hot water in shower. Room too warm, even though night was cool (Oct 9). Paid $42 for an ounce of good scotch.

The lobby is lovely, the rooms are rundown and not clean. No air conditioning. Rotting steps, worn furniture and carpet.

We stayed in the lodge which was quieter than the Stanley. The breakfast was excellent. Loved our stay we will be back!

There is some construction going on in the self-parking area at the Stanley Hotel, so we parked in the dirt lot and toted our luggage uphill to the reception area. Only then did we find out that our rooms were in the Aspire, across the street and we had to check in there. Also, we attempted to check in at 4:20, and our rooms was still not ready. No email or other communication informed us that we were not in the mail hotel or that our room was not ready on time. Fortunately, the Aspire is brand new and was totally quiet and luxurious, although there was no microwave to be found in the building.

My wife and I stayed here to attend a wedding. Our room was cramped and way too hot to sleep comfortably. There was a thermostat but the cover had been broken off of it and it didn't seem to do anything. The hair dryer didn't work. We stayed 2 nights but did not get cleaning after the first night. Both mornings, the hotel staff knocked on our door even though we had placed the 'privacy please' card outside. In addition to all of that, the hotel runs frequent 'tours'. This means that groups of non-guests are frequently guided around the building, including right outside our room! The walls are not exactly soundproof, so this provided a very unwelcome disruption. Overall we were very disappointed given the price. This was the kind of experience we expect at a place like Motel 6, not a 'luxury' hotel.

Great once they moved us from the condo to the main building

The hotel and location are absolutely beautiful. Walking into the hotel, I imagine, is like being in the early 1900's. I took off one star because the hotel is seriously in need of some minor repairs. There is frayed carpeting, and areas that need to be painted. For $250 a night I expect a little more upkeep. However, staying here is a unique experience and definitely worth doing once.

We really enjoyed the stay at the Stanley Hotel. It was so close to downtown and the amenities of the hotel were excellent. The historic value of the area was amazing and the ghost tour was very interesting.

This was a great experience for my wife. She has been wanting to go to the hotel for quite some time. We did not plan to stay at the hotel, but while she was going on the hotel's tour I decided to surprise her with a one night stay at the hotel. The hotel front desk said that they full so I checked your site and was able to book a room for a decent price. I then waited for my wife to get done with her tour and walked her to our car, but instead of getting into our car to depart I started getting our luggage. Needless to say she was quite ecstatic. Thank you for the wonderful experience. There was one issue that we had. The Hotel did charge me separately along with your website. So I had to argue with the Hotel that your website had already charged me and that they should not be charging me separately. I am currently waiting for them to refund me for the night stay.

Book your Ghost Tour as soon as possible - the only drawback of our stay was that the Ghost Tour was sold out. Loved everything else!

The Stanley is Estes Park's premiere hotel -- the ONLY place to stay if you're in the mood for old-world elegance and a 24-hour loop of Stephen King's The Shining. The restaurant/bar is charming as are the public areas of the hotel. The only drawback are the vast numbers of tourists who visit, but do not stay at the hotel. The constant hubbub can be tiring while you're trying to relax. Never fear, though, a quick walk into the mountains behind the hotel will see your troubles melt away into oblivion. Don't forget to watch The Shining while you're there! I'm looking forward to returning when the hedge maze is installed. Ooh, scary!

Great Hotel, perfect neighborhood, close to Denver

We had always wanted to stay at the Stanley Hotel because of its notoriety. The Ghost tour was fun, and the area is beautiful, but the room was really small and cramped for the price.

The building itself is great, beautiful exterior, nice restaurant/bar and very friendly staff. The room we had showed its age though and could use a little love.

1 bedroom condo was very nice and spacious. Full kitchen was convenient

Wonderful Experience, Great views and location. Great Staff. Tip, no air-conditioning... not an issue here as it is always cool and windows are screened. Tip.... if there is wedding, you may want a room that faces the back and forgo the view and parking lot noise. The manor house is $100 less and is "private". and has great porches and common areas..
